Adelino Soars was a master craftsman. Me and my wife could not be more pleased. He designed the stairs and walkway like he was Michaelangelo. He is a real artist. Beautiful Job...Did additional work for free...cleaned up when complete

I had purchased the deal to get some stonework on my home repaired. The provider came out to take a look at the stone walk that leads up to my home. There were just a few stones that I wanted to have repaired but when they came out to look at the work he wanted to rearrange a lot of what was there and was trying to tell me that what was currently there isn't up to code. Everything was inspected recently under the auspices of the VA loan that I have on the property and is confirmed to be up to code. When they got back in touch with me I was told that the total to do the work would come out to something in the neighborhood of $6450.00. I feel as though I am being taken advantage of at this point for work that really doesn't need to be done.

Not well. Mr. Soures was called for a problem wiht the chimney and brown streaking down outside of chimney in the winter when the heat went on. He said he could fix it. He did the work in Oct and in Dec the problem was worse than ever. he apparently did not know what he was doing but proceeded to do work that did not correct the problem.

The work done is wonderful. The only downside is how long we had to wait. We signed up for the Angie's List Deal in May and had to wait until November for the job was done (the original contract was for the middle of October.)

I got in contact with Mr. Soares in late May and we signed the deal to have a patio (with pavers/brick) installed in my backyard). However, he was very busy which I took as a good sign! Anyway, my turn finally came in early September. The man is an artist. I had some lovely landscaping done in advance and wanted some pavers put in. He came over to refresh his memory, and gave him an idea of the colors I liked and I let him do the rest. The next day he came with his crew and the entire job took them about a day and a half. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL JOB!!!! Can't wait for next Spring/Summer so I can enjoy my new back yard! Mr. Soares was definintely WORTH THE WAIT!!!!! You won't be sorry!!!

everything went very well and it looks terrific.

The work involved replacing two loose stones on my steps to my front door. These stairs are not used very often, however, I was concerned that someone using these steps could possibly get hurt. He came and quoted us a price of over a thousand dollars. I told him I had no intention of spending that much money on these steps. I did not want them totally rebuilt, however I did want them to be safe. He left being somewhat angered. Later that evening he called back and said he had never lost a customer on Angie's list and wanted to work something out. He said he would do the job for $550 plus the deal from angie's list. He said he was very busy and would get back to us in a month. I have never heard from him, and quite honestly that is fine. I have since hired someone else who will be doing my stairs for a fraction of the price that Mr. Soares wanted. He is also doing stone steps from my deck to my pool.t I am sure Adelino Soares does wonderful work. Unfortunately, it just did not work out.

Excellent workmanship-- took a while to coordinate services, but once confirmed they did a great job.

Mr. Soares came out to our home to provide a quote on the same day that I phoned him, in mid-May. My husband wanted to get another quote to compare, and told Mr. Soares this. Mr. Soares politely thanked us, and left us his business card. That evening, he called us back to give offer a discount on his quote if we decided to contract with him. He told us it would be approximately 2 months before he could get to our job, as he was already booked with several other customers. We gave him a deposit and signed the contract. In early August, I phoned Mr. Soares to see when he was planning on starting our job, as it had already been longer than 2 months wait. He said he was a bit behind due to rainy weather and other customers requesting more work done than was initially planned. He said that his daughter takes care of all of his scheduling, and that he would check with her and call back the following week. When he did not call us back the following week, we had some concerns about the job not getting done. I called him again, and told him that it had been 3 months since we gave the deposit. After apologizing, he said he would come during the first week of September. He assured me that we would be very happy with his work, and thanked me for our patience. In the last week of August, Mr. Soares called to say that he would come the following day, which was a week earlier than I was expecting at this point. He showed up at 9 am that morning as promised, with 2 assistants. They worked all day, and the curbing looks great! They left our yard clean and neat. Our neighbors have been complimenting us on it ever since the install. Even though we waited longer than initially expected, Mr. Soares did an excellent job at a very fair price. Understandably, outdoor masonry work is affected by the weather. We will hire him again in the near future for some additional masonry work..

I entered into a contract with Adelino Soares in May. It took until August for him to begin my job. I had a previously installed ?architectural? colored patio done by another contractor in 2001. Within 6 months, a hairline crack running its entire width developed which I filled, but over the next 13 years the patio settled/raised up on either side of the crack. People were tripping. I knew I had to hire someone with great reviews, a craftsman, and a person who understands the earth, its movement and contours. So I was willing to wait for Adelino Soares. As it turns out the previously failed patio had site prep issues and was doomed to fail ? some of the concrete was 8?deep, and other areas it was 4?, with a variety of thickness in-between. It took 3 men 4 days and 2 jackhammers to get rid of it, and I must say Adelino and crew persevered in what can only be called extremely trying circumstances, and hot August heat. He took extra care in assuring stability, grade, height and run-off issues were addressed, used pavers of my choice, which blended well with my walkways, and worked hands-on while overseeing every detail. My new patio will last a lifetime and was well worth the wait. Highly recommend.

Mr Soares is a very busy man. We put a deposit down in May, and was just able to complete the work the week of 8/10/14. I He is very good at his craft and very meticulos when it came down to the details. He takes alot of pride in the work he performs and even will take a little more time and effort to fix something if its not going to look right. When he was showing me how the stones were being installed, he noticed that one of his helpers had not cut a stone right and he then removed it and had them fix it because it did not meet his standards. If what he wants to accomplish didnt meet the price, he would take care of it just to make sure that it looked right. If you are looking for a craftsman who takes alot of pride in his work and does alot of the work himself, Mr Soares is the right guy to hire. Just understand, that he is in demand and may not be available right away. You need to book well in advance. It will be all worth it and you will not be disapointed in the end.

Company tried to persuade me to NOT get something that was expensive. He was also extremely unorganized.

Adelino's company is in demand. We gave him deposit in early May and he was booked out about 3 months. This is not uncommon for masons and contractors, and it is worth the wait for such a craftsman. Adelino has been doing this his whole life and takes great pride in his work. Once he and crew started on the job, they moved along and finished quickly. He paid attention to many details, and this was not an easy, straight forward job. The price was VERY fair for the amount of work he did. Our whole driveway had to be built up about a foot and a half to pitch out to the road and he had no idea the work it entailed until he started. He never once complained, he just got it done and within our agreed price. He even cleaned up our exiting walkway with fresh stone at no additional charge. He is a master of his craft and an artist. You need to let him do his process and trust in his work ethic. If you want a fancy invoice and a professional office building, you won't get it. If you want a true tradesman that gets the job done, Adelino won't disappoint.

Adelino Soares Construction has installed my walkway and other then the long wait (Adelino Soares is in high demand) the work was completed quickly after they started. Adelino takes great pride in his work and old school skills, and worked hard to make me happy with the work before he considered the job complete. Thank you Adelino

I'd like to be able to provide a statement as to the quality of his work, but we never got that far. Adelino is not lacking confidence in his abilities as he didn't hesitate to let me know more then several times during his visit how good he is. We walked around the pool deck and I showed him the spots where the plastic border was coming displaced. He told me that was a "Mickey Mouse" way of putting in a retaining border and it should have been cemented in. That sounded good to me as cement would likely be a more permanent solution. We also took a look at the surface and spoke about the resanding. When I told him that I would like to have the surface power washed, he seemed surprised. He said that would add a lot of time and cost. I wondered how he would remove the old sand and the moss growing between the pavers without power washing. I asked him how he would make sure that the sand find its way into the seems between the pavers. He ignored the question and we moved onto another section. When i asked him the same question again, he responded with, "You want to know, well I'll tell you, but I already know I'm not going to get this job." I've never had somebody giving me a quote say this to me before. He went on to tell me that he would use a compactor/vibration plate to make sure that sand found its way between the pavers. Now that I new his "secret" he was certain that I was going to share this information with another contractor. Adelino, I already knew the answer to this question and I regret to inform you that if a 30 second google search reveals that a vibration plate should be used for this job, it is not a trade secret. On his way out I asked if he had any pictures of is work. He handed me a disorganized stack of date stamped photos. Not one of them was less than 25 years old. I did call about two weeks later when i hadn't heard from him. He told me he would provide the estimate by the end of the week. That never happened. I wish I hadn't wasted my time trying to get an estimate from Adelino Soares Construction. I prefer to hire skilled, professionals. He could very well be skilled, but he has proven to be anything but professional.

The $699 was a great price, but then the total price was well over the budget I wanted to spend on the size lot and the neighborhood.

We signed a contract in March 2014 and didn't hear from him for about a month. When I finally did he apologized & said he had been in the hospital, that was understandable but someone should have contacted us. They finally started the work in mid-May. It seemed to be going well when I left to visit my sister in CA. But when I got home, I found that he had only followed the OLD layout and instead of putting in another step, they "raised" the brick walkway for about a yard. That left a huge dip in the walkway for water to puddle in. I also complained to him about the "debris" left everywhere -- cement splashed everywhere. They did return and raised the brick walkway further downward so as not to be so noticeable. I then realized that the spacing of the bricks did not match the rest of the walkway - too close together which was very obvious. They did return to fix this and clean up some of the debris that my husband & I had not gotten to. However, cement/concrete dust was embedded in a LOT of the bricks in the walkway & cannot be removed -- we've tried everything.

The contractor appeared and reviewed the job request in mid-late May, and said he would do the work for $250 more. The check was cashed. I called twice to schedule the work in July. No response.

Mr. Soares was quick to make the initial contact and provided me with a lot of pictures of his finished projects; some were absolutely spectacular. It was clear fro the outset that Mr. Soares was a craftsman of the old school who took great pride in his work. After a brief discussion, he measured the patio, asked what I wanted for materials and gave me a very reasonable price. Until I saw the finished project I did not realize just how reasonable the price was. Since we made the final agreement in the early spring, I had to wait about 1 and one-half months to get the work actually done. Mr.. Soares contacted me and apologized for the long delay, then made an appointment to do the work. He and his crew arrived on time and worked steadily. The work took just about the entire day. When they left, the area was cleaned up and the new patio was a sight to see. The attention to detail confirmed my initial feeling about Mr. Soares. He is a true craftsman.

I am stuck because i already paid for the downpayment from angle's list. The work isn't going to happen until late august

My parents needed work done very quickly due to health reasons. Adelino Soares Construction responding very promptly to their request and did a very good job. My mom called to thank me for the reference from Angie's List and asked me to write a good review for the company.

Went very well. It was a two day job and Adelino came back to fix something I wanted done. Very nice work.

Adelino is a very busy man but he came out very quickly to talk to me about my project. When we talked about what needed to be done, I had quotes from two other contractors for a unilock type wall. He convinced me that a rock wall would last longer and look better for my home and he provided numerous pictures (see his web site) and a quote on the spot which I thought was fair, given that there would be more work than merely putting up a unilock type wall. We signed on April 28th and he knew we had a contract to replace the abutting driveway in early June. He had some initial delays due to truck mechanical problems and rainy weather. But he started on June 3 and wrapped up June 9. He and his helpers work very quickly and at the end of each day cleaned up the area he was working in. I have received many compliments in just a few days and my neighbors also want him to have some work done on their homes. The wall looks great and we are very happy with the results.
