He was supposed to give us advanced notice for when he was starting work. Instead, he called us Friday morning and stated he would start work that same day. We said fine. He then let us know Friday evening that he would be returning on Saturday morning. He never showed up and didn't call. We called him and he didn't return our call. We wasted a Saturday waiting for him. He showed up Monday morning without warning us. He finished the job. He was extremely rude to us throughout the process by having a horrible attitude, questioning and belittling our decisions and comments. The pathway edging cracked in three different areas while drying. He came back to repair it and it's now very noticeable because it's discolored.

The work was completed exactly as we had hoped. We strongly recommend Avico Mason Contractors. The thought and care that went into meeting the needs for our basement water problems and deck tiling were exemplary. We couldn't be more satisfied with the result and the cost.

All work went according to provisions in the contract. All work was done in a very professional manner and done in a timely fashion considering the weather we have been having. I will definitely call Avico Mason Contractors for any future work that I may need done.

AVICO was actually LESS expensive that some of the quotes I received and they provided a much better quality of stone than what some of the other masons were willing to provide me with. They do PHENOMENAL quality work that one just doesn?t see anymore. I LOVE that they think outside the box and it?s not what you would typically see elsewhere. I fully trust them! They are true craftsmen! Their professionalism is something that other companies particularly retailers should learn from! They were able to complete the project in a timely manner and they cleaned up after themselves each time leaving the area pristine. I have to say that I am truly blessed that my co-worker was able to recommend AVICO. I would use them again and again because they know how to treat customers and should give others a lesson or two on how to do so!! Thanks to them I was chosen as home of the month in my town!! Thank you AVICO!!!

The end results look good in that the treated areas blend in with the rest of the house.

I signed the contract on 4/20/11 and they actually started the job and they pulled out of the job with no practical reason. Apparently what happened was they didn't calculate the materials correctly and I couldn't provide them with my credit card because I had a meeting. I asked them to please wait for an hour so I could get them my credit card so they could get the materials and they said they wouldn't do it and they were going to walk away. I said that I had a contract with them and they couldn't simply walk away with no particular reason. He said that he had another job and he wasn't losing anything and he was going to walk away. I work right next to my house and when I came two hours later he had destroyed my walkway. He did a little bit of work and destroyed everything he did. He breached the contract and walked away. I have another contractor that is going to start in a week. I lost all that time and I have all these materials sitting on my driveway all this time. I have dealt with contractors all this time and I've never seen anything like this. He is the most unprofessional contractor I have ever seen in my entire life. I am going to complain to the Better Business Bureau but I haven't had any time. I was smart enough not to put any money up front. That is why he said he didn't care about my job because he had another job so he walked away. I think he got a bigger job that he wanted to do. He destroyed not only the little amount of work that he did, he destroyed my materials and my walkway. My blood pressure goes up when I talk about it. I would never recommend him to anyone.

Avico did a good job waterproofing our basement. The only problem was that they didn't remove a bunch of garbage in the basement (we were under the impression that they would) and also they mixed concrete in our yard and damaged some plants. Also, the concrete they poured seems a bit weak - it might have been useful for them to polyurethane over it or something, to make it more durable (the cement chips a bit when we wheel carts in and out of the space...) But overall, they did a good job and kept to the price they quoted.

The work they did was good enough. They spent a lot of time talking up how difficult the process would be and that it would take two trained masons two full days to do the job. Instead, a couple of guys did the whole thing in less than one day. The price they charged was based on two people, two days, so they made out well by charging me twice what they should have. Then he suggested that I make the check out directly to him instead of his company to "make it easier for his accountant."

We should have asked more questions regarding the design he planned, whether weed proofing fabric would be under the pavers, lining to keep pavers from moving out of place. We did not initially know we had to hire a separate contractor to put in blacktop to keep the pavers in place, though I suspect this was a miscommunication between our expectations and his of what the final area would look like. Drawings of the project would have been key. AJ was solicitous at the beginning and end, but showed a bit of a temper when we changed our minds about water proofing the basement and change in the design of the front steps. Despite the misunderstandings, we are happy with the final result.

Overall, it went well. Once they started, they stayed at it until they finished.
