The owner of Beacon Paints arrived on time for our first appointment and was very polite, cordial and amicable. After inspecting our house, he prepared a very detailed estimate of the job. This was very nice as other companies had taken several days (or even weeks) to provide a cost estimate. In addition, he was able to make suggestions on possible colors for the house, trim and doors and also provided us with recommendations of a paint store (in the area) that had consultants who could advise us on paint colors and schemes. Another big plus was that he showed us pictures of local houses (before and after) that Beacon Paints had painted and provided their addresses so we could see them in person. This was important since a picture can sometimes look different from the "real thing"! Our house needed some repairs before the painting could begin. Beacon Paints recommended a carpenter, who was also punctual, polite and meticulous in his work. The additional benefit of using this recommended carpenter was that the carpenter coordinated the completion of the carpentry repair work with when Beacon Paints would start painting the house. When we narrowed down the colors for the house and trim, Beacon Paints obtained samples of each color and painted small sections of the house so that we could compare and make our final selection. This was a big deal for us since we would have to live with our choice for the next several years! The crew came and stripped the old paint off the house, cleaned the side boards and caulked any gaps between the boards in approximately 2 days and then spent another day covering all the windows and trim with plastic. Since we were re-painting the house with an entirely different color, they spent approximately 2 days priming the whole house and another 2 days for the new color. Any issues that came up during the final inspection was dealt with quickly and without argument and this was mainly with some of the windows were sticking so Beacon Paints went and rechecked all the windows and made sure they were opening smoothly. Overall, we are extremely happy with Beacon Paints, their work and their professionalism. Our neighbors have complimented us on the work and the new look of the house!

I was extremely pleased with the power washing and paint job. The painters were thorough and neat. All work was done as promised and on schedule. Based on my recommendation, my neighbors also used Beacon and were very satisfied with the work. The owner, Ed Norris, went the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction, repainting a door that was not in the original quote but which had been slightly discolored by the power washing.

They were great. Arrived on time. Neat. Great job.

Ed was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what products to use to make our deck look it's best. It took about a month to get the project scheduled, but once we had it set up, it was completed within 2 weeks. The project itself took 4 days, which seemed very reasonable for this kind of project. We're very happy with the finished result.

We needed the work done for a closing so we had deadlines to meet and Ed was very accommodating. Ed was very detailed and thorough in his proposal and the price was reasonable. His crew were on time, non intrusive and worked efficiently but with great care to the details of the trim work, etc. We were very pleased with the quality of the work and that Ed was very accessible and responsive to any questions or concerns we had.

They did quite a good job. The worker was a decent guy.

He was very responsive to the initial call and came to do the estimate when planned a few days later. He was very thorough in his review of the job and the best approach to the outside. He was honest about the pros and cons of doing the job now or later based on whether we are going to sell the house or not. We decided not to paint the outside yet, but would likely use him if/when we do. We used someone else with the same quote for the interior work because he had too long a wait for the time pressure we were under. The only complaint I have is that he was very chatty and stayed a long time. This is more a preference issue for me. He was very nice and informative, clearly is passionate about house painting!, I just had other things I needed to do, so I would have preferred a slightly shorter visit.

It went very well. We are getting the house ready to put on the market. Ed and his crew are top notch. The job looks great.

Ed Norris and his crew are hard working and meticulous. Our house was not an easy job. As they discovered, a previous paint job had damaged the bonding surface by applying the incorrect primer. So they had a lot more prep work to do than anticipated. That did not deter them. His team uses a new state of the art Festool HEPA vacuum to allow sanding and completely contain lead dust, which was essential on an 1870 house, which had layers of lead paint on it. And with small kids in the house, it was piece of mind for us. The bottom line is that Ed wants his customers to be happy. We had a last minute unpleasant surprise with the paint color we had selected. That didn't phase Ed who offered to return the paint to Phillips Fine Paint (who he works with closely) and worked with them to modify it to match the color we really wanted. All this with just a few hours to spare before his crew was to start painting! He really went out of his way to make us happy and we loved the end result.

Ed and his team Pedro and Deyvide were professional from the start. Ed gave us a timely and accurate estimate. Our schedule had to be a bit vague at first but Ed was flexible and prompt as soon as our date became concrete. Despite potential constraints the work was done flawlessly in the time predicted. In addition, everyone was friendly, easy to communicate with and trustworthy. We plan to use Beacon Painting again for the rest of our house and have already recommended them to family.

Beacon had done our home a number of years ago and with some repairs it needed to be done again. I called Ed and he came promptly to check things out. He noticed some wood that would need replacing (he gave us the name of a carpenter but we used one we knew) and gave us the estimate on the spot. His crew came as scheduled a few weeks later. They are hard workers, come early, stay as late as necessary, are quiet and considerate. The neighbors were thrilled. The foundation plantings survived with the consideration of the crew.Ed took the time to find just the right color for the decking since I was being picky.While working the men found further rot in fascia boards and trim. Our carpenter came to do the repairs and then Ed and the crew came back to finish the painting of those areas as well as the decking (perfect timing as we were gone on vacation!)We are very happy with all aspects of the job.

They were great! They are really busy, but they're good about getting back with you. They were meticulous and their attention to detail was great. They were very careful and the workers that he has working for him were friendly, punctual, and cleaned up after themselves; no mess was left. They were also patient with us when we picked our colors, offered suggestions and great ideas! Everything turned out well. I asked them to do another small job for us.

Ed and his team were always professional and efficient. Ed's estimate was very precise and detailed which I thought was an important characteristic of a crew intrusted to paint our house. Once the work started, his team were punctual and completed the work on time. TheOriginally, our plan was to only do the exterior of the house but we were so impressed by their work, we asked them to work on our family room which also included some minor repair dry wall work because of water damage from the previous winter. I have no issues hiring Beacon Painting again or referring them to others.

Arrived on time, communication regarding paint issues etc was easy and pleasant, manager checked on progress. Cleaned up. Did a great job.

We purchased an Angie's List coupon for painting for a different painting company, and had Beacon painting come to give an estimate for the same job, to make sure the first company was charging a reasonable rate for the overall price. In addition to the 2 rooms we purchased coupons for, we wanted 2 other rooms stripped of wall paper and painted. The Beacon estimate came in slightly under the first company, but with the coupon it was worth it to use the first company. Two months after we received the estimate, the first company still had not done the job, and had not shown up for the start date. At that time, I called back Beacon to see if they were still interested in doing the 2 rooms for which I did not have a coupon. Beacon's response time was first rate! Less than 2 weeks later, Beacon had not only removed the wall paper, repaired water damage on the ceilings, and painted the 2 rooms, but they had also done a 3rd room we added to the list because they had done such an excellent job with the other 2 rooms. We regret purchasing the coupon for the first company, and would hire Beacon again in a heartbeat. They will be our first and only call for any other painting we need!

They did an excellent job. The crew were extremely cooperative. They were clean, very careful around our landscaping, they worked very hard during the heat. When they put the primer on, I decided I didn't like the color of the paint and changed the color and they adjusted nicely.

All work was carried out in a professional and business-like manner with useful appropriate advice and recommendations offered by experienced and knowledgeable staff. All e-mail and telephone communications were responded to very promptly. We were very impressed with how much attention and time was spent on preparation prior to painting. The workmen were friendly and diligent in cleaning up after completion of the work. They were flexible about working around our time schedule and the schedule of the carpenter who was doing exterior remedial work. The quality of the work was excellent.

They gave me a low estimate and I had good interaction with the owner. It is a very small company and at the end of the day I decided they did not have the tools to do the job I needed to get done. I felt like their recommended course of action was not the best choice; but the decision was not based on price. The owner spent a good chunk of time looking at the house; he had good customer service skills and was very straight with me. I will use them again in the future.

I described the overall project previously. The estimate was on target. The crew thoroughly prepared the house for painting including sanding scraping and priming. The job was completed promptly and thoroughly supervised.

Everything went well. They charged a reasonable rate, were very professional, and left everything clean when they had finished.

Look, everyone has an off day. We've all had those moments when we are not at our best. Yesterday, apparently, was that sort of day for Ed Norris. Based on the stellar Angie's List reviews of Beacon's work, we asked Mr. Norris to provide an estimate for completely repainting the exterior of our home. My husband made the appointment and I waited at the house to meet with Mr. Norris, who arrived 25 minutes late and obviously in a pretty bad mood. After discussing his difficulty in reaching my husband by phone to alert us that he was running late (which I reassured him was no problem, as I?d just been working in the yard while I waited for him), Mr. Norris and I walked to the back of the house to discuss the work. With each minute, he became more belligerent and more dismissive of my questions/comments. When I tried to confirm that they would strip the shingles and replace any damaged ones, he said ?I don?t know what you?re talking about.? I responded, ?well, you remove the existing paint, right?? to which he responded, condescendingly, ?you?re not using the right terminology ? we don?t strip it, we scrape it.? At this point, his rudeness caused me to stop and tell him that I was uncomfortable with the way he was speaking to me. His response? He said I was probably picking up on the fact that he really didn't want to be there; he wanted to be home watching the Sox on TV. Again, the tone was belligerent, not joking. I suggested that if he didn't really want to be there, he should leave. As I was escorting him out, I mentioned that I would file a report on Angie's List. Mr. Norris responded with something that might have been an explanation or perhaps an excuse...had it not been delivered in what sounded like an insincere and combative manner. I suggested that he not accept appointments if he had no interest in keeping them. Despite the glowing reports seen here ? I know, we are the only rating lower than an ?A? at present, I cannot recommend Beacon professionally. I am relieved that we had not engaged their services and then been treated to this disrespectful, baffling behavior. I?m a pretty easy-going person, not some fussy-fuss-pants high-maintenance client. Seriously, I just don?t understand why anyone would behave this way when they are, basically, auditioning for a job.
