We have been around since 1923 as a family-owned company and have survived and grown through Great and not so great depressions.
We have always prided ourselves on being a truly service-oriented company, not just about an expansive 25,000 square foot display or even the sales expertise of highly trained salespeople.

Delivery and product service are the largest departments within Yale at 65 people and 25 vehicles. It is our commitment to you to deliver properly without damage and fix problem products quickly. Buying an appliance, lights, and plumbing at Yale is about sales and especially the service experience.

We went to Yale Appliance on to look at a range and refrigerator. Jessica Petrino was our sales associate. From the minute we walked into the showroom we were treated well. The staff are extremely professional. Jessica took us around and showed us different models, never rushing us, answering all of our questions and when she didn't have the exact answer, found it out for us immediately. We purchased the two appliances as well as a new matching microwave. Yale's pricing was well below the MSRP that we had seen on the manufacturer's web sites. When we were ready to take delivery, I called Jessica and arranged the date. Again she was extremely helpful. On delivery day, the truck showed up on time, It was a rainy day and the men took great care to protect our new hardwood floors. They also were very professional, courteous and there was no damage to our doors, floor or woodwork. They set up the appliances and left. I highly recommend Yale Appliance.

Every 4 or 5 years I need a new ignition for my stove. I use it all the time and I was using it the Friday before Easter at 8am, but it wouldn't light. The woman on the phone really worked to find a service rep that could come take care of me. By 11:00 they had a team there. They fixed it while I had a business meeting with a group of people in the room next door. Really professional. The guys who were fixing it were really aware of what I had going on. They were quiet. They only needed to speak with me briefly, when I left the meeting to take a phone call and then was put on hold. They put a tarp down to keep the area clean. They arranged to charge it to my credit card on file so that I didn't need to interrupt my work. Very very good service.

I've purchased at Yale before and I've always come back because of their expertise, their focus on quality but most importantly is their service. Even the best appliances need servicing on occasion, and Yale always stands behinds their products like no other company I've seen. So when it was time to replace an old refrigerator, I turned to Yale. As usual, they delivered on time (in fact, they called to see if they could come early!), they were incredibly friendly and professional, they hauled away my old unit and the new one is perfect. I can't say enough positive things about my experience with this company.
Description of Work: Every time I've purchased at Yale Appliance, their service has been incredible. From the installation to repair, they provide top notch service. My most recent purchase was the delivery and installation of a refrigerator, as well as the removal of the old one.

We are sorry to disappoint you. Older appliances are sometimes tougher to repair. About the price: We use a Blue Book of average service rates in New England. Although you will find a few cheaper servicers, we charge by the job. We do not charge for extra time spent on repair, and we warranty all our parts for 5 years, not 90 days like the others Sorry again to disappoint you and thank you for your comments Sincerely, Steve Sheinkopf CEO

I called Yale and left a machine message which was promptly returned. The repair person came the next day, as scheduled. He determined that food was plugging the drain but he went the extra step and made sure that the motor wasn't overheated. He noted on the report that if we called again because he had overlooked something, we wouldn't be charged again for the initial service fee. I call that service. The dishwasher was not under warranty but we did purchase it at Yale several years ago.

Based on reviews and a visit to the website, Yale Appliance was our first choice for buying a full set of stainless steel kitchen appliances. We visited the store on June 8th and were very impressed with the selection and the prices. The showroom is spotless and the sales staff knows the products. Once we made the decision to purchase, I told my salesperson that I needed the delivery done on June 21st in the morning because I was leaving at noon, and I was assured that would not be a problem scheduling it this far in advance. I provided my home and cell phone numbers, and asked that if there were any issues that I would be called on my cell phone. I heard nothing from Yale until the night before the delivery when I arrived home and had two separate messages on my home phone. The first was from my salesperson informing me that the dishwasher would not be included in the delivery as it was damaged. The second was from the delivery informing me that the time of the delivery would be between 11:30 - 2:30 when I would not be available. I tried calling my salesperson at 7:30 that night since they closed at 8, and I left him a message stating that I could not take delivery at that time. Delivery was closed so I could not talk with them about my situation. On Friday morning, June 21st, I called delivery as soon as they opened and explained what happened. The salesperson had removed me from the delivery schedule based on my message, and I asked why I was not scheduled for the morning as was agreed to during my sales visit. I was informed that delivery times cannot be guaranteed, and when I stated that sales had said it would not be a problem I was told that was incorrect and should not have been told that. Once the store opened I called the salesperson and asked what happened, and he was very apologetic but offered no solutions. There was no adequate explanation of why messages were left on my home phone instead of calling my cell as requested or why my request for morning delivery was not met despite his assurance. All he wanted to talk about was rescheduling the delivery (with no guaranteed times) and when I asked when the replacement dishwasher could be available he did not know. He wanted to deliver all the appliances that were available and schedule a second delivery for the dishwasher. I told him that I wanted one delivery and asked why a company the size of Yale would not have adequate inventory to account for damage to a single unit. Again he had no answers. He said he would get back to me and apologized again. After the call I went online and found the email of the company president and sent him an email outlining the case above. From there the situation improved immediately. I received a call from one of his direct reports and he offered to do the full delivery including the dishwasher on the following day, June 22nd, at a time of my convenience. I explained that while I appreciated the offer, I was out of town and could not take delivery. I told him I would be available all day on July 5th and could take delivery then. We agreed on that, but, in the interim, my refrigerator failed and I asked if the delivery could be moved up to June 29th, a Saturday. He was very accommodating and said I would be the first delivery of the morning. On that Saturday there were two separate teams to do the installations, and both were on time and very professional. They did an excellent job installing the products. Overall this was a mixed experience. I appreciate that after I escalated the problem Yale did everything possible to rectify it, but I would have a difficult time trusting the regular sales staff again.

We purchased an over-the-range hood to replace an old, existing unit that had failed and for which parts were no longer available. We knew in advance that this was not going to be a routine installation because there was a custom cut granite backsplash and the unit would need to fit exactly in the footprint of the old one. In addition, the clearance to the ceiling was slightly tighter than the manufacturer recommended. The installer Yale sent, Ricky Robitaille, removed the old unit then started putting the new unit in. He determined that he could not install the unit without damage and so, rather than trying to force it, took it back out and arranged for the hood's chimney to be laser cut to size and got a granite installer to come in and trim the backsplash to ensure a proper fit. The charges for this extra work were extremely reasonable, and the end-results were perfect.

I wanted LG washer and dryer because of high Consumer Reports ratings. Yale claims to carry LG. Salesman told me he doesn't recommend LG because if service is necessary it could take a while to get the parts. He tried to switch me to other brands. Ultimately we struck a deal for LG. 2 weeks later they scheduled delivery but the washer was dented so both were returned. 2 weeks later another delivery was scheduled but when they called the day before to confirm it turned out they were only delivering the dryer; still no washer. They then told me they were trying to expedite the washer with the LG regional rep and would have it the next week (yesterday). The salesman told me that they can't really get LG but say they can because their customers want it because of the Consumer Report ratings. Yesterday they called to confirm delivery and when I asked what was being delivered they told me it was only the dryer and the washer might be in 2 weeks later. They claim to carry a product that gets customers through the door and then try to switch them to something else. Bait and switch is a sleazy practice and Yale Appliance is a sleazy company.

PLEASE READ: We sell and stock LG without an issue. This customer wanted a special order piece that was not available locally. Special orders on this brand are notorious for delivery issues and concealed damages. We told the customers this BEFOREHAND in great detail. We delivered the washer and dryer. Both packages were perfect in the box, but the dryer had concealed damage on the side. The soonest LG would have a replacement was two weeks if the shipping time is accurate as we know from experience it is not I understand the customers frustration to certain point, but at no time were we deceptive about what might happen. In fact, we were incredibly transparent about the whole process, painstakingly so and communicated extensively throughout the ordering and delivery process. As an addendum, most box stores do not order LG as a special order. As of today neither will we.

When the refrigerator was taken off the delivery truck I noticed that the left back corner was crushed. The metal was crimped and the plastic in the back was broken. This unit had been previously dropped from quite a height. I told the delivery guy that this refrigerator was damaged and that I didn’t want it. The delivery guy said that I would not notice the corner once it was installed and that it should work just fine. I told him to take it back. I then cancelled my order from Yale and have not done any business with them since.

It is really difficult to respond to a delivery incident from 4 years ago. That being said, we apologize to this member for any inconvenience. Damage is an unfortunate reality of this business as more product travels longer distances with less packing We have a simple procedure for damages. Customers can keep the unit with a discount or we will deliver another one at their convenience. If they are without refrigeration, then they can use the damaged one until the new one arrives. Again, I apologize to the member and will endeavor to improve in the future

I bought all new appliances from Yale in 2011. Could not have been happier with this expereince. Second time. Our refrigerator started to 'leak' -- assumed the ice maker was faulty due to the source - chest freezer - on the bottom of the unit. I decided to call Yale back -- told me to do so if any problems arise. Scheduled the appointment. Asked them during the scheduling call if there are any recalls on the ice maker from the manufacturer I should be aware of - they told me to check the manufacturers web-site..., really, no idea? Turns out the refrigerator was leaking due to clogged drain. I am dissappointed that this simple fix was billed at $250 ($99 travel/diagnosis fee up front -- $140 once on site to do the work). Child Care privider at the house - Tech was pushy with her - won't start work till I get paid (Gave Yale my CC and all details the day before over the phone, what is the issue?) Work was done as described - easy to schedule - showed up on time. Hefty bill rate for less than an hr. of work - I expected a better experience from Yale.

First, I apologize if you ever felt pressured. We take that seriously, and will review with the whole staff. About the pricing: We use a Blue Book of average prices throughout New England and price accordingly. Water leaks also can be huge insurance problems if not diagnosed and repaired accurately. That is the basis behind the price. We are not looking to gauge customers, but help with issues if needed Thank you again for your comments. We do listen and will improve

Buyer Beware! Don't go to Yale for your bathroom! Kitchen, yes. Bathroom, no! We recently had a good experience with Yale for our kitchen, but not so much with our bathroom. They displayed a bathroom vanity in their showroom that was the perfect size and price, so we ordered it. When our delivery date came and went, we called our Yale rep many times over a two-week period. This turned into a nightmare in that he never could give us solid information on when and if the vanity would ever be delivered. He repeatedly stated over and over again, that "They are not answering my voice mail or email messages." Subsequently, we called Customer Service and were told that the Purchasing Manager would contact us, but that never happened. Who is vetting Yale's vendors? This is not my problem. I ordered the vanity from Yale. It is Yale's responsibility to deliver. My recommendation: go somewhere else for your bathroom vanity, not Yale's. P.S. They randomly sent me a $50 Yale gift card as a peace offering, I think, as there was no note attached. There is very little in their store selling for $50 or less. I consider this an insult in that, in order to use the card, I would need to spend even more money in their store! Very tacky.

Looking to replace the existing out-dated kitchen appliances and purchase a new washer and dryer, we decided to drive down to Yale based on their excellent Angie's List reviews. After recovering from the shock of the vast selection of appliances, we finally settled on a Frigidaire package whose appliances would fit our kitchen. Chris was able to point out the various options and comparisons. The process was all very easy and painless, especially compared to our previous outings at other B&M stores to comparison shop. While we had initially gone to Yale just for the kitchen appliances, we also decided to take advantage of their great customer service and financing options to purchase a washer and dryer. The initial package that we bought included a over-stove microwave. After reading the specs and evaluating options in our kitchen, we decided that the microwave was too big. We were able to call Yale and within 10 minutes had them remove the microwave and credit back the cost -- quick and painless. We booked the appliances to be delivered 2 weeks later. Yale called ahead in advance to confirm delivery. They arrived on time the day of delivery. Their delivery guys were friendly and efficient. Appliances were removed from the boxes and quickly moved into place. The old appliances were removed. All said, the delivery and removal took less than 30 minutes

The sales people are responsive without being pushy. The delivery dispatcher volunteered to change the day when the original time did not work for us. The truck arrived at the beginning of the time window we were told to expect delivery. The two very strong men managed to get both machines up a rather narrow steep staircase without scratching the walls. What I think is particularly commendable is Yale's very informative and detailed website. There is lots of information to help you select the appliances you need,. There are links to all the installation and use manuals. There is also a commentary on the companies and their products. Finally, I really like to support local businesses. Yale makes this easy by guaranteeing their prices for 90 days.

I needed an unusual size cooktop to fit an existing cutout after 12 year old cooktop stopped working properly. Big box stores and Internet searches yielded nothing. Yale salesman picked up the phone, immediately knew what I needed and sent me a link to the product. Armed with that info I checked around and found the item from online supply houses for a few dollars less but with too many strings to make it a real savings. Called back to give my credit card. Salesman followed up promptly with expected date he would receive the shipment from the mfr. That date was correct. I picked it up and installed it the next morning. Works perfectly. Very professional start to finish, though it is isn't often when one is in a position of not comparing products! I would definitely buy from Yale again.

Bought a new stacked washer and drier from Yale. The actual sales was fine - we had only a limited set of options in the small space available in the house so we just picked one after shopping around and Yale had them in stock. I scheduled a plumber to come hook up the gas after delivery. The delivery, on the other hand, was incredibly irritating. Yale offers Saturday delivery, which is nice, but the first Saturday came and went because after I had set it up the woman I was talking to apparently didn't bother to write it down. So I rescheduled the plumber for the next Saturday and take a Wednesday off work to get the delivery. Wednesday comes and the delivery happens, they take away the old stuff, but the glass on the drier is cracked so they put that one back in the truck and leave me with only the washer. This could not have been checked at the warehouse? So I call the plumber and reschedule again. Yale delivers the second drier on Saturday and I take another day off work to get it hooked up. The kicker was that when I would call them about these things they would be faintly apologetic at best. After the first screw up which was 100% their fault I would have expected that a second screwup would leave them falling all over themselves to apologize. I ended up taking two days off work when originally I was scheduled to take half a day for plumbing and be able to work the other half. This was money out of my pocket but Yale believed "sorry" was enough. I guess the people I was talking to had no authority to say anything more than sorry and didn't bother to talk to someone who did (or were afraid to talk to someone who did) and I'm not the type to say "put your manager on the phone".

Fantastic from the moment we walked into the show room. John Ramsey was our rep and he was professional, helpful in pointing out pro's and con's of what we were looking for and had great follow up. He suggested their plumber (as well as checked a couple of others from Angie's List) and was the winner. Delivery came through when we asked and had a snaffu. The stove came with a hard wire cord and my electrician installed a 3 pronged outlet. I called Yale customer service and spoke to Sandy who was great at tracking down a resolution so we could get the stove installed that same day. So we had the easy part of ordering and a glitch with the delivery. The response on both sides from Yale was what you expect from a high quality establishment. Based on our experience we'll be coming back to them the next time we need to purchase appliances.
Description of Work: new apartment sized stainless appliances for condo. We purchased a range, dishwasher and fridge. I used the plumber Yale recommends (Pamko Construction) and Paul did a great job on the initial walk thru to installation of the dishwasher and dual fuel range we purchased.
