Services we offer
At New England Bulkhead, Bulkheads are all we do! We offer several variants of bulkheads which include; changing old wooden bulkheads to metal two door systems, replacing your existing rotted metal bulkhead with a new metal system, and also complete dig out excavation for those of you with rotted metal stairs in the ground with single overhead lift doors. We installed Bilco and Gordon door systems.
New bulkhead was quickly installed but was close to a brick landing. The installer said that he did thousands of these so I assumed he would install some sort of rubber contact so the door wouldn’t hit the brick. I was wrong. Less than a week after installation rust spots started to show on my new door. When I told them about it they showed up unannounced (and nearly had the police called on them by our nanny) and hit it with some touch up spray paint. The result looks very amateurish. I am not thrilled with this work and I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: Needed bulkhead doors replaced with powder coated finish doors (so I wouldn’t have to deal with painting)

I called New England Bulkhead for an estimate, mid June 2016. A couple of days later Sweden Culver came to the house and took all the measurements and left me a detailed proposal. We looked it over, called and accepted it. We got a call very shortly that Henry Krueger Jr would be doing our job. He came here when promised, removed the old wood and the rusty door. He replaced all the wood with new pressure treated and the old door with a new Gordon metal door with metal trim. No wood shows now, so there can't be any rotting/ leaking . The new door looks so good. Even though I haven't painted it yet ( the caulk has to cure first ) it makes the whole back of the house look much much better. Henry told me what paint to buy and exactly how to paint so my door should look beautiful and last a long time. Henry cleaned up the job site perfectly and removed all the debris. Bottom line is if you need a new bulkhead door don't mess around, call these people at New England Bulkhead right away.

The quote process was easy and punctual. The scheduling of the job was fast. My father watched them as they worked because he was so impressed with them. They worked great as a team, efficient, quality, professional. It has rained and snowed since installation and its tight and dry.

I responded on October 9th with address and phone number on angies list and by leaving a voice message. It's has been almost 3 weeks and never heard from this company. He could of at least given a courtesy call that he was not interested doing buisness with me.

Very well, keep area fairly clean. However, I was surpised to learn the bulk head was not painted but factory primed. It would have been helpful to know that it was not going to be a painted product or even better if I had been given the choice to install a factory painted bulk head or have someone do it as a total part of the price. I would have given the quality a 5 star otherwise.

His price was very high and he was very unprofessional. I decided to go with another company and he came to my home when there was no one home and called to harass me. He claimed that we had a verbal contract and that he was going to sue me. He also harassed some of the other service providers in the area because he thought that I was going to use them.

It went fine. Only took around 3 hours. Some of the work was previously done by my son-in-law because my bulkhead butts my small back porch and they do not repair porches. Removed all the debris and it gave me a 5 year warranty. Since the bulkhead was installed it has rained quite heavy and it has not leaked at all.

I had an existing bulkhead and then had a stone patio installed. The installation of the patio left a trough in front of the bulkhead and resulted in water pooling and draining into the basement during rainstorms. I called New England Bulkhead to install a new bulkhead on a concrete footing that was above ground level to eliminate the trough. Henry came out promptly to estimate. We scheduled and rescheduled (due to rainy weather) and Henry accomodated each change. He said it would take parts of two days: first to pour footing, second to install bulkhead. He and Lonnie were right on time both days. Work very professional. Cleanup complete. A piston hinge on the bulkhead door was faulty and needed to be replaced....Henry back in two days with replacement part. Bulkhead works fine. I would use them again and recommend to anyone.

The original installation was done on December 16, 2014 and we were pleased with the experience. However, we noticed that some of the sealing gasket protruded out onto the bottom step and this area was wet all winter with some standing water noted in that corner. My calls to this company to check this out went unanswered until I finally got a response on 5/6/15 when I was told someone would come that afternoon. No one came or called to reschedule. The next day they showed up unexpectedly and cut off the protruding gasket and tightened the bolts connecting the bulkhead to the foundation. It was not until they had left that I realized they had driven their pick-up truck through my hostas and across my lawn. There was no need to do that since there was plenty of parking space in my driveway. I did ask where they had parked since I did not see the truck in the driveway and was told "on the side" which I took to mean on the side of the street (I could not see that area because the house was in the way and I was already in the back yard when they came). I believe that running down three of my hostas was intentional because they were clearly marked with wooden markers and the area of damage was twelve feet wide. There is no pick-up truck that wide. So unfortunately even if this bulkhead proves to be the best in the world, I am always going to connect it and this company with my ruined hostas!

Response from New England Bulkhead
Good morning [Member's name removed] I am troubled that you feel that we would ever intentionally run over you hostas plants. We do our absolute best to make sure our customers are satisfied always. As for the late response to get out and fix the issues you had with the bulkhead steps I apologize aswell. We are a small and very busy company, after that long brutl winter we were back up with insurance claims from ice damn damage. Hope the bulkhead and new stairs continue to work perfectly for you and if there is ever an issue please call me at 781-801-8188 thanks, Henry Krueger Jr New England Bulkhead

I received an estimate for the work within days of my request. Because of business heating up after a long, destructive winter, there was about a week 's delay between my agreeing to the estimate and a call from me to inquire as to a possible scheduling for the work. Once an appointment was set up, Henry and his assistant arrived on time, removed the old bulkhead but realized they had the wrong replacement. After covering the area, they had to return to their workplace but were back very quickly and the new bulkhead was installed, all was cleaned up, (offer a trash bag for the various bits) and the bill was paid. All was very professional. Later, I was in the cellar and noticed some gaps that were a concern as I had not seen gaps in the original cover. I left a voice mail regarding my concerns but did not receive a response until I called again the next day with an overly insistent message. Later, when my call was returned, I apologized profusely. Again, the representative couldn't have been more professional. She relayed my concerns to Henry, who later set up a day and time to come back to inspect the bulkhead. He arrived on time and checked the gaps. He did make an attempt to correct the problem and it was resolved as well as could be expected. Again, he was very professional. All in all, I'm very satisfied with the company's work and professionalism.

On 11/5/14, provider came by to give us a quote to replace our old bulkhead. Sweden, sales lady (the owner's daughter) reviewed the area and came back to me with an honest assessment of what TRULY needed to be done. No upselling, etc. She provided me with two scenarios with pricing. One was to dig out the existing area or the other was to just replace the existing bulkhead. Based on what she saw, the conditions of the metal stairs, etc , I would be ok in just replacing the actual bulkhead. In addition, in the quotes presented, I was provided with a 10% senior discount off the price. The next morning I called to tell them that I wanted to have the work performed (replacing the bulkhead only., I was told that it would be about 10 days to 2 weeks for install. That was fine with me as that was explained to me when I got the quote. That evening I received a call from NE Bulkhead offering me to have the installation done the next day, due to a cancellation. I said yes. The team that came could not have been more professional and worked straight through to get the job done. They both worked hand in hand with a system that told me that they have been doing this for a long time. After the install, they cleaned up after themselves and, other than the fact that you now see a new bulkhead, you would never know that anyone was there. That's how much care they took in cleaning up after themselves. Very happy with the results.
Description of Work: This provider did not do basement waterproofing, they changed my bulkhead. I am assuming it is the same company listed above. Their paperwork shows an address of PO Box 84 Canton Ma with a phone of 781-801-4900.

Although the proposed work was not performed in the end, I enjoyed my communications with Henry. I found him to be very responsive and professional. To contact him, I called and left a message, and he always returned my call very soon after. His first visit to my house occurred, with my permission, while I was at work. He wrote up a proposal and left it at the house for me to read. A few days later, I called Henry back with some questions about the proposal. He answered my questions fully and even went back to the house to look at things again. In the end, Henry told me that he could not take on the job. There were some constraints imposed by the configuration of my house and yard that made it impossible for him to guarantee that water would not get into the bulkhead during one of those severe storms that we have occasionally around here. Henry took the time to explain his decision fully, and I decided that I should postpone the bulkhead replacement and make it part of a larger remodeling job that will happen in the not too distant future. At that time, the constraints will be removed, and the bulkhead replacement will be easier to execute. In summary, I found Henry Krueger of New England Bulkhead to be professional, responsive, honest, and responsible (and the price he quoted was definitely competitive). He did not take on a job that he felt could not be done right due to outside constraints. I appreciated that very much.
