As a property manager I deal with many contractors. Mario's roofing crew arrived on time to replace roof on a large building with four units. His large crew have an amazing system going. Each worker knows what their job is and does it with quality and speed. They start setting things up on the ground by blocking the area off for safety, laying tarps down on the ground for the removal of the shingles which can cause a lot of damage on the ground if not done correctly. They worked long and hard to complete the job. I also had visits from the owner of the company and his construction supervisor checking in to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Upon completion of the roof I inspected each patio and the grounds and found no damage and no nails. These guys are amazing and I will use them again.

A++ Steve at Mario’s was awesome! He worked with me finding a price that was within my budget! Workers were awesome as well. Got there when expected. Worked diligently and were thorough! Started getting dark while they were cleaning up but Chris/foreman had a couple of guys come back the next morning to make sure the yard was thoroughly cleaned up and even though he had cleaned the skylights -he had them wash the skylights again. What a great company to work with!

We purchased a roof after meeting with their salesman Tim. The sales process was very professional and informative. We have a pretty big hip roof and we wanted to make sure it was done properly; after hearing what Mario’s did we hired them with confidence. The install was fantastic and the cleaning after was very impressive. My neighbor even commented on how well the crew cleaned. Overall it was a nice experience and we are very happy we picked Mario’s for our roof.

I had Mario's come out and give me a quote to add a better ridge and add soffit vents to my house back in the fall. Michael came out and looked and gave me what I thought at the time was a good price (and would have been if they had actually done what they were suppose to). I pretty much signed the proposal that day and told Michael to contact me when they would be coming so I could be hear. Two weeks past and I didn't hear from Michael, right before I was going to call him again, I come home one day from work and they had already been there. So much for letting me know when they are coming. Ridge vent look good and I didn't look to close at the soffit vents (my fault) but they had installed about 14 metal louvers around the house which I thought were completely open underneath ( they weren't more on this later). I had MassSave come out and insulate and while they were working in the attic I was informed that I had very inadequate lower ventilation. Surprised at this I went out and took a close look at the soffit's Mario had put in. Even though the 8"x16" inch soffift vents, all they had done was drill out TWO LITTLE 2" holes underneath these. There was basically no open space under the vents. They should have cut open the whole underside of the metal vent, I mean why use such a big vent cover for two dinky holes? In December I wrote a review on here much like this one warning customers to stay away and the next week I get a call from the company trying to make things right. At first Michael tried to play it off saying that it was the way my house was designed. I finally had to due the math and show him that the amount of lower ventilation was incorrect for this size house. Mass building code is for every 150 sqft of attic space, 1sqft of ventilation split between the upper and lower. I'm not going to get into the math but Mario baraly added a square foot of lower vent. When Michael came back out to look I gave him my paperwork where I did all the math for them and he seemed to not know what to make of it. This is basic building science (not to mention Mass code and yes I know this is a retrofit but come on). Michael then said he would fix it and I took down by review, but then he proceeded to string me along for about 2 months always coming up with an excuse for not being able to come out. Suffice to say he had no intention of fixing the problem. So yeah I don't recommend this unprofessional company. It seems either like they don't know what they are doing or hoping that the customer doesn't know what needs to be done. My advice, stay away.
Description of Work: Stay very far away - Contractor lacks basic understanding of building science.

They were fabulous. They were wonderful. The salesperson. the two guys that installed it, they were incredible.
Overall, we are happy with the end result but the experience was not as smooth as we would have liked. Communication was lacking and I kept getting the sense that they wanted to do the job their way on their terms. They were quick to provide a written estimate and their pricing was slightly better than others we had gotten. Because we were ready to move, we signed the estimate with the exception of one item, a set of sliders we were looking to replace. Mike was our sales contact; he was very friendly and willing to tell us what we wanted to hear. He was helping us price and pick a replacement door and said we could write up a separate contract once we make a final decision. Seemed benign and put our project in the queue. It was two months later before they started work. Communication was an issue throughout the project. After we signed the contract, we did not hear from them at all. After several weeks, we reached out to Mike. He told us we are in the next patch of jobs. Two weeks later we get a call saying they wanted to start the next day. Good thing we were ready. We assumed that their crews would show up the same time every morning and every day until the job was done. That was wrong. There was miscommunication about them working on July 3rd (Monday); we cancelled our travel plans expecting them to work on Monday as were told multiple times. So that second week, we did not see a crew till Wednesday. They asked to use my attached two-car garage as a staging area for all the materials. I thought it was a courtesy. Little did I know the disarray that would be left behind. For almost two weeks, I had to carry my toddler in and out of the house because I did not want her walking through the garage with nails, metal and siding with sharp edges strewn about. It also required us to be home when crews arrived so we could unlock the garage door for the crews. Thursday morning my wife waited till 9AM for the crews, they were a no-show. She called Chris and was told the crew was pulled for a “larger” job in another town. No phone call, no courtesy notification, we were just left hanging. Guess what, Friday, no crews again. Again, no phone call, no e-mail, no text, no courtesy notification. Being Friday, the crews had worked only one day that entire week. Since the Thursday before, our garage was a mess. For eleven days they had one of their trucks parked in my driveway. Since they did not work Monday, Thursday or Friday they lost considerable time on the project. I had a house mostly sided, gutters on the rear of the house but no downspouts. Friday brought torrential rains, typical summer storm. Without downspouts in place rain dumped along my foundation and found it’s way into my basement. Very upset I called Steve (owner of Mario’s) to express my anger; that crews did not show up Monday when we were told they were; that we did not get a call when crews were not scheduled to work Thursday and Friday; that I was left with debris on my roof before a summer rainstorm and finally my anger that I had water in my normally dry basement. Returning to our sliding door. From the day we signed the contract we asked Mike for a product catalog and each time we were told, “next time I come back”. The job completed and during his final visit, Mike told us he would work a “deal” with Steve for our troubles. We never heard back and we even reached out to him since with no response. Looking back at this, I get the feeling that Mario’s was not interested in doing the door; they had no intention of doing the door so they strung us along. In addition to the vinyl siding, we had a set of windows replaced. One of the windows has a defect screen. Mike said, “no problem”, we could give it to him and he would get it repaired/replaced. We still have the broken screen. I will personally bring it back to Harvey myself. I learned one thing the hard way. I would have written in the contract to have them lay down tarps when tearing off the old wooden clapboard. I can’t tell you the amount of debris, wood chips, nails, razor blades and paint chips that I picked out of my lawn. I spent hours with a magnet rake and on my hands and knees to make sure my lawn was safe for my toddler and friends. If you’ve never done siding work, it’s loud, very loud especially when you are inside the house. Working well into the evening and on Saturdays sounds good in terms of keeping the project moving, but living in that environment takes patience and earplugs! So keep that in mind. If you are sensitive to noise, negotiate work hours up front. Their work crews were dedicated workers. They worked long, long days in some of the worst summer heat and sun without a complaint. The crew working our house did not speak English well, so communication with them was limited. When I talked to them about certain aspects of the job, they were uncomfortable making a commitment or decision. Each time deferring to Chris, who was not a constant fixture on the job site. The crews were drinking sodas on the lower roof one day. How do I know that? They left a soda cup on my chimney cap. For three day, I had to ask three individuals to remove the soda cup left on my chimney cap. After they left the job site I also found a soda can in my gutter, restricting flow to my downspout. Looking back, I get the sense that they have a job that they know well and were not really interested in listening to the details I wanted addressed, they just wanted to get the job done so they could move to the next job. I talked to Mike and Chris about a cable coax that came through the side of the house on the second floor. We talked about a couple options. I asking them to leave the slack at one end because I know cable technicians that could help me address it. They did a good job of hiding the coax, but little did I know they took the slack and bundled up the coax and screwed it to my foundation sill. Esthetically nice, but I started to have problems with several channels on my cable TV. I had to undo what they had done and address it properly. If they had only done what I asked them to do I would have been happier and saved myself time. Throughout our project, we had numerous conversations with Mike, he was on-site almost everyday. We brought all these issues up with him in person. I brought the issue of communication up with Chris, twice face-to-face when they didn’t show up for work. I had a phone conversation with Steve that one Friday. At the end of the project I even wrote a letter to Steve summarizing our experience. So nothing here in this review should be a shock to anyone at Mario’s Quality Roofing, Siding and Windows. We really tried to be honest and patient with them throughout the process. I hope they take feedback seriously; they must because even after all this, they sent us a letter requesting this review.

They showed up early on a blisteringly hot and humid day, with a short crew because of the heat. The worked tirelessly (although they took needed breaks for safely due to the heat and humidity). Because they were shorthanded the job took much longer than they had planned but they stayed until everything was 100% completed and cleaned up. There were two minor problems and their foreman came over first thing the next morning and cleared them up. We couldn't have been more pleased!

After initial contact, got a call back to schedule an estimate the next day, which was good. No showed the day I was expecting them to arrive. I reached out again, they apologized and came for the estimate later that day, which again was good. Gave me a great price after assessing the work that needed to be done. Reached out a few days later saying I wanted to go through with the job and was ready to sign a contract and give a down payment. No showed the day I was expecting to sign the paperwork. Reach out again, said they would pass along my message, and have not heard since. I understand they may be busy, but repeated no shows for a potential customer are unacceptable

The sales rep, Dan L. came to our home for an estimate for a new roof and siding. We knew there was a problem with air circulation in the attic. Dan looked at the roof and vents and told us we had a problem. He recommended a solution before we even broached the subject. He explained in great detail what the work entailed, how long it should take, the quality of the materials that we chose and the warranty information. He came to our home again before the men started the job. The roofers did an excellent job. There were team members cleaning up the debris, nails, etc. as the old roof was taken off. Once the work was completed, another professional came out to inspect the work. Once they left, you could not tell anyone had been there except for the beautiful new roof. Once the weather cleared there was a team to do the vinyl siding. Two crew members came a day early and brought all their tools and equipment. They told us what to expect from the installers. The entire team was so professional and worked from early in the morning until it was dusk. They removed the old shingles, prepped the house and then the siding was installed. Gutters were installed also. They removed about 6 outdoor lights when they put up the siding and we chose not to have them re-install them. It was the perfect time to replace all the outdoor lighting on the house. We had our electrician install them a few days later. Clean up was performed quickly. Expect a truck in your driveway to hold all the debris/waste from the job while they are working. On the last day, Dan came out again to make sure all was well. The teams that performed the work were very professional, knowledgeable and pleasant. We selected a brand new color of siding that became available just this year and have volunteered to let Dan use us as a referral. We are now ordering a new front door from Mario's and will have them do the installation. We are very, very pleased with all the workmanship and materials. Dan Lunney is a joy to work with. He has great customer service skills!
