They do good work, I have used them before so I was familiar with their work. They cleaned up after themselves. They were very professional in skillful in the job.

Everything turned out just fine. They did some pruning and spraying and the work was satisfactory. I had agreed to the additional cost ahead of time, but it was more than I was expecting.

When I called the company to arrange for an estimate, Chris, the person who answered the phone, happened to be the representative for my town. He was very friendly and we agreed on a date. He arrived about 20 minutes early, which worked out very well for me. He assured me that if I hadn't been home he would have waited in his truck. He confirmed my concerns about four trees on my property that needed to come down and explained what was wrong with them in a very understandable way. His estimate arrived a few days later. This estimate was half the price of a second company I spoke with and I called Chris about it. I was concerned, given how off the estimates were, that someone was very incorrect or dishonest. He said that, unlike the competitor, his crew would take only one day instead of two and that they'd use a crane instead of a cherry picker (therefore needing only one day). Once he finished explaining, it was clear that the second company was out to get as much money from me as possible. I did recall that that second rep said, "Don't let anyone tell you they're going to use a crane. It will destroy your driveway." He was trying to swindle me out of another $2500.00. The team arrived on the day expected and they were early. They kindly waited until 8AM and then went to my neighbors' houses to let them know that they'd be blocking the street for a few hours. The neighbors knew they were coming but appreciated the reminder and opportunity to move their cars. The crew was very friendly and they worked smoothly. They ate lunch in the truck and took exactly 30 minutes. Once they left, the only signs of them were the stumps left behind. My driveway is just fine! A second team that Maltby apparently contracts with came by a little over 2 weeks later to grind the stumps down several inches below the soil. I think they would have come sooner but we got snowfall. It all looks great and the property looks much better. And, I am no longer worried about property damage from overgrown, top heavy, diseased trees.

I couldn't be more pleased with the work done by Maltby and Co. We had a very big silver maple in the backyard that was old, in poor condition, and quite close to the house. A storm last year brought down three limbs that fell onto the house, leaving holes in the roof and a damaged gutter. It was a beautiful, old tree and I appreciated the shade, so I was reluctant to have the tree cut down entirely; another tree company came after that storm to connect a cable between the two primary limbs as an alternative to removing the tree. Nevertheless, in a more recent storm several smaller limbs fell, narrowly missing the house. We didn't want to spend another night anxiously waiting to hear another loud crash, so I called three companies with excellent ratings on Angieslist (including the company that had cabled the limbs together, who suggested I call a larger company to use a crane to remove it). There were many trees down in the area because of the storm, and I had to wait several weeks before most other companies could do an estimate. Chris Bugby came to do the estimate a few days later. He was very courteous and friendly, and explained the plan clearly and thoroughly. I received a detailed estimate (by e-mail) the next day. I decided on Maltby because I liked what I'd read about the company, and because their quote was the lowest (I got prices ranging from $1660 to just under $3000!). From start to finish - initial phone call through final clean-up - I was impressed with this company. I was a little nervous watching the entire process (seeing someone 30 - 40 ft. up the tree attach a cable; watching the crane lift large pieces of the trunk over the house), but felt reassured by the men's calm demeanor and confidence as they worked. They worked quickly but carefully. It was fascinating, actually; several neighbors came out to watch with me from across the street. I was quite impressed with their clean- up. They removed all the wood, swept the street (!), and walked through the front yard and garden picking up stray sticks (I told them that was unnecessary since most of the sticks were there already before they arrived, but they insisted and left the yard cleaner than when they'd started). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Maltby & Co. to anyone needing tree work.

We had to wait a few weeks from the time the quote was given because there was so much damage from the storm that companies are very busy. We had a few quotes. Maltby was by far the most reasonable and didn't try to sell us more work than we needed. The work was done as scheduled. A few days later we looked at the site, to be sure that the fence was accessible and to schedule that repair. Unfortunately the large segments of tree trunk were piled up right next to the fence making it difficult for the repair. We called Maltby and asked that they come back and move the wood away from the fence. They were apologetic about not doing right the first time and returned the next day to move the wood. The fence repair was completed with no problem.

Couldn't go any better. No complaints at all.

Marc came out quite quickly to have a look at the little wooded area in need of clean-up. He was very knowledgeable on what kind of trees we had and which should be removed because they were dead or would die soon. He spent quite some time telling us the names of the trees worth keeping. He came back a second time to mark trees we wanted to be removed and spent again some additional time discussing the trees worth keeping with us. His people came as scheduled and did a very nice job cutting down the dead trees being careful not to damage the good ones in the process. They weren't able to finish it completely in one day, so Marc agreed for them to come back another day to finish it off. Overall, it was a very good experience and we would hire them again.

Expected service date came and went; they did show up about a month late after I contacted them twice. I didn't get a sense that sales and service functions were well-coordinated back at the office. They did a good job once on site.

We obtained several quotes and Malby was the best. They arrived as scheduled and removed the trees that had fallen during Sandy. They even cleared some brush in the area of the trees. They cleaned up very well afterwards.

They came promptly, they were professional as well.

This company is fantastic especially because they have a live person in the office during regular office house who is polite, knowledgeable and communicative. This secretary made all the difference and I truly wish that all companies had someone like her. The person who came out for the estimate was also very polite and a good listener. And the men who came out to do the job were again, extremely polite, responsive, efficient, very communicative, considerate of my neighbors and quite adept at cleaning up after themselves. I am so happy to have discovered this company through a coupon program with Angies list as very likely I would have not considered them otherwise. I would definitely recommend them to anyone without hesitation.

I previously wrote a bad review for the Maltby Company. However, they have contacted me and we are moving ahead with scheduling the tree services. I feel confident that all will go well.

The evening of the hurricane, a large fir tree broke and fell in my back yard, knocking into and damaging a second tree, and against my house, breaking a large picture window. I needed the tree removed before the window could be repaired (had to be done from the outside). The following day, I called seven companies from Angies List looking for an estimate and someone to come quickly and remove the tree. Four of the companies that I called said they would not be able to even give estimates for a few days (two never called). Maltby & Company said they will send someone the next day. The following morning, Chris Bugbee from Maltby & Co.(very friendly, polite and knowledgeable) stopped by and told me he could remove the tree for $1330. He also recommended that I remove the second tree, as it was cracked and possibly could also fall. He gave me a $450 price for this tree. He told me they could do the work the following day. Later that same day, I was surprised to see a crane and other trucks pull in next my house. There were 6 workers, and they removed the two trees in a few hours. They also removed small branches and all debris, leaving the yard looking cleaner then before the tree fell.

individual came and gave an estimate and looked over the job. suggest a few other trees that could use trimming but i deferred. he was fine with that. came and did the job when i wasn't home. all went well and he cleaned everything up beautifully. no complaints at all.

Watching them remove and trim our trees was amazing! They brought in a huge bucket truck that went over the top of our large home, reaching out back where they removed the cherry tree and trimmed the large lower branches of our Norway Maple, providing us with beautiful sunlight to our previously completely shaded back yard. They did a wonderful job, cleaning up everything to perfection..

Initially after purchasing a deal through Angie's List in April, we contacted Maltby and Co, but did not hear back. My husband called again a few weeks later and the sales rep was VERY apologetic. He said they had been busy, but not too busy to lose a customer. They scheduled a date with us a few weeks out. The day of service, they were there right on time, and performed all of the services requested. They walked around the yard with my husband to discuss all of the trees, and the scope of the work on each. We felt they recovered well from our initial impression and did a very professional job.

Everyone I dealt with was knowledgable, courteous, responsive, personable, & helpful. From Katie and Lauren in the office, Chris the Employee manager, Johnny, Rich, Jason B, & Jason S who were the 4 men Crew on my job, to Co-owner Bob Maltby, they were the best group of people I have ever dealt with. Johnny, the Foreman of the Crew introduced himself when the Crew arrived promptly at 7:30 am & explained in detail how they were removing the trees. They protected our lawn by laying out sheets of plywood so they could drive the crane onto our property & not damage anything. After the 3 hugh trees were cut down, the Crew cleaned up everything then another day came to grind the stumps. I've had other tree service companies and Maltby & Company was the best. And the Angie's Deal save us a lot of money.

It took a bit of prodding to get someone to come out and then to send an estimate. However, once Marc did so, he was very responsive and flexible. He came out with the crew and we went over everything again. We added a few small things for which we were not charged. The crew was efficient and polite; the young man in charge was also very accommodating--even to neighbor who asked for some additional work overhanging her yard. The clean-up was interrupted by a thunderstorm so we had a few twigs to pick up the next day. The only problem was damage to a few saplings we'd decided to keep as screening, but Marc came back and trimmed and tied them up later. We are very pleased with the work.

They weren't willing to come out to my town, so I cancelled the coupon I bought.
