Description of Work: Maltby appears to be a good company. The estimator they sent was pleasant and professional. The problem with the Angie's list "deal" was that $300 was basically an 1/8th of the services we would have needed, and our trees are so old there is no guarantee the services would help. So in summary, we lost the $140 we spent on this "deal" because there is nothing useful it could purchase us. I think Angie's list should not promote situations like this where consumers end up losing out. It compromises their impartiality and alleged market positioning as consumer advocates.

Description of Work: I called for an appointment on Monday and they said someone would call me back. Instead the fellow came by my house on Thursday and left a card in the door. How that is helpful to me at work, I don't know. I called him and left a message asking him to call me back on my cell phone so that we could set up an appointment when I could be at the house to show him the trees I wanted cut down. Instead, he called at 10 pm at night, on my house phone, and left a message that he was going on vacation and to call his office in the morning and someone else would help me. I did not follow up with this company.

Description of Work: Maltby came by, assessed the trees that need work, and provided a quote. They were very quick to respond to my online inquiry and made getting an estimate painless. I didn't even need to be home, which was great. I haven't yet had any work done on the trees, but when I do I will likely use Maltby.

They called and gave me an estimate, and I said that sounded wrong, then they realized that they were at the wrong place. They came back and gave me a quote that was higher than another quote. I told them that I wasn't interested. They came pretty quickly.

+ -1 moreA Maltby representative came and walked around the yard with me to discuss what pruning and trimming needed to be done. He promptly sent an estimate. With all the rain, it took a while to find a date to complete the job. Two workmen came and did an excellent job of the pruning, also cleaned up all the debris. They were polite and knowledgeable. We already plan to have them back in the fall to relocate some large rhododendron.
Description of Work: Several trees and arborvitae hedge pruned/trimmed.

+ -1 moreThe initial estimate was provided promptly and the work was scheduled. Between the time the work was estimated and scheduled, I twice attempted to contact the estimator to discuss the exact area of work. No return calls were received. The workers appeared on the date scheduled, performed the work according to the estimate and did a terrific job of preparation, removal and cleanup. You would not have known they were there by looking at the lawn or area surrounding the work. A few days after the work was completed, the estimator called to check on my satisfaction. She was surprised that she did not receive the two messages. Although the communication problem occurred, it did not diminish the good work provided. In the future, I will be more aggressive if a return call is not received.
Description of Work: Had Maltby trim back branches hanging over my roof and removed saplings along the side yard.

They even took a few minutes to discuss the various kinds of trees we have in the wooded portion of our back yard. They had planned to use the bucket to do the work, but to protect our lawn, they did climbing instead. A really good company to work with.
Description of Work: We had several dead trees in our back yard, some of which were leaning over our fence. They removed two medium sized tree, and 5 smaller trees.

+ -1 moreThey were so nice, as well as very professional. They took down a huge white pine without damaging a branch on our lilac bushes, planted on a hill 1-3 ft away from the tree! They came to the door before they started, and were done within 45 min to 1 hr.

+ -1 moreTHEY DELIVERED SUPERB EXECUTION OF THE JOB, THEY STUCK TO THE QUOTE AND WERE REALLY STRAIGHT SHOOTERS, HONEST, AND DEPENDABLE. THEY CAME ON TIME AND WERE WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH. EVERYONE I SPOKE WITH FROM THE OFFICE STAFF TO THE WORKERS WERE VERY CONCERNED AND CARED ABOUT OUR SAFETY IN GETTING THE JOB DONE RIGHT. THEY PICKED UP COMPLETELY, THEY SWEPT EVERYTHING IN THE FRONT AND YOU COULDN'T EVEN TELL THEY HAD BEEN HERE, AND THEY SENT A LOG TRUCK TO PICK UP THE WOOD AT THE END OF THE DAY. IT WAS VERY PRECISE AND THEY COMPLETED THE JOB IN TWO PHASES OVER TWO DAYS. I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN! I'VE USED THEM IN THE PAST FOR SMALLER JOBS AND THEY WERE VERY AFFORDABLE AS WELL.
Description of Work: THEY TOOK DOWN TWO TREES AND REMOVED THE DEBRIS. THESE WERE VERY LARGE 100 YEAR OLD TREES, MORE THAN 60 FT TALL, WITH RESTRICTED ACCESS. THE JOB REQUIRED A 15 TON CRANE. ONE OF THE TREES FELL ON OUR HOUSE AND HAD TO BE REMOVED.
