Description of Work: A pair of reading glasses got accidently flushed down a toilet. I called this plumber based on the number of reports on Angie's list and the overall grade. The plumber arrived and told us that it was a flat rate to remove the glasses, no matter how long it took him. In the end it took him almost an hour and a half to remove the toilet, retrieve the glasses but most of that time was due to reseating the toilet as he claimed he had to put in new bolts after cutting the old ones with a hack saw. Not the most professional job I have seen, and the flat rate was I felt over the top.

 + -1 moreWE WEREN'T OVERLY THRILLED WITH THE WORK PERFORMED. WE WERE PUTTING A WASHER AND DRYER BACK INTO AN EXISTING SPACE WHERE IT HAD BEEN BEFORE... YET IT STILL TOOK HIM 8 HOURS. HE ENDED UP CUTTING A HOLE IN THE SIDE OF THE HOUSE TO PUT THE DRYER VENT IN, AND YET A MONTH LATER I FOUND THERE WAS ALREADY AN EXISTING VENT CUT ABOUT 20 FEET CLOSER TO THE DRYER ITSELF. THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS FINE... JUST SEEMED IT TOOK HIM A VERY LONG TIME TO DO A PRETTY SIMPLE TASK.
Description of Work: HOOKED UP WASHING MACHINE - NEEDED TO OPEN WALL TO ACCESS EXISTING PIPING. INSTALLED DRYER VENT.

 + -1 moreTIM WAS THE PLUMBER THAT DID THE WORK WAS VERY POLITE AND WAS CAREFULL NOT TO SCRATCH THE PAINT HE ALSO LEFT THE PLACE VERY CLEAN.HE WAS VERY THOROUGH
Description of Work: REPLACED HOT WATER HEATER AND HAD TO BRING PIPING UP TO CODE.PREVIOUS PLUMBER HAD DRAIN VALVE TO HIGH AND THERE WAS AN OPEN DRAIN THAT NEEDED TO BE CAPPED BECAUSE OF TOXIC FUMES COULD COME OUT. DID NOT RELIEZW THIS UNTIL HE REMOVED THE OLD WATER HEATER.

THEY EXPLAINED WHAT THEY WERE DOING AND WHY, PROVIDED OPINIONS ON OTHER WORK WE'RE CONSIDERING, AND WERE EXTREMELY PATIENT WITH MY QUESTIONS. IN THE TIME IT TOOK SILCO TO RESPOND TO MY INITIAL CALL (AFTER HOURS, IMMEDIATE CALL BACK), GIVE A DETAILED WRITTEN ESTIMATE (PROMPT NEXT WORKDAY SERVICE), AND COMPLETE THE JOB (TWO MORE DAYS), THE OTHER PLUMBER (GIVEN TOP RATINGS ON THE LIST) HAD PATRONIZED ME, AND VIEWED THE JOB, BUT FAILED TO PROVIDE A WRITTEN ESTIMATE. IT MAY HAVE COST ME A BIT MORE (I CAN'T TELL AS THE COMPETITION CHARGES BY THE HOUR and SILCO CHARGES BY THE JOB), BUT THE EASE OF DEALING WITH THEM AND PEACE OF MIND WERE WELL WORTH IT.
Description of Work: REPLACED CAST IRON DRAIN PIPE AND HOUSE TRAP WITH PVC, INSTALLED LAUNDRY STANDPIPE, HOT & COLD WATER LINES, AND VENTED DRYER THROUGH OUTSIDE WALL.
