I want to share my experience of communication with Mr. Sylvia. About a month ago we bought a house in Reading MA. The house is pretty old, therefore there were quite a few repairs and alterations in it. One of the issues was that when any electrical appliance was switched on, the light began to flash, the microwave oven movement slowed down as if it lacked energy. We decided that this was not the most urgent of the problems and were wrong. Last Saturday, there was a short circuit resulting in a burnt treadmill and completely lost of an electricity. We started looking for an electrician. Since the case took place on Saturday, most of those who had been contacted either did not respond or could not come. When I called Mr. Sylvia, he said that he could only arrive at three o'clock (it was noon) and we agreed. At three o'clock he sent a message that he would come at four. At four o'clock he did not come and at four fifteen I texted him and asked not to come. He called and said that he was already here and that he changed his whole day to be able to attend and so on ... I agreed. He started by saying that apparently all our electrical appliances were burnt. Well, or most of it. Then he replaced the breaker in the electrical panel. Then, when it did not help, he said that our electrical panel has breakers of different firms and that there are too many double breakers and that the home inspector which inspected the house before buying did his job badly and we need to contact a lawyer. After that, he proposed to replace the electrical panel, saying that it will completely fix all the problems. I have several times clarified whether he is completely sure of his words and he said yes. I said that I need a second opinion and I will give him an answer tomorrow. Then he asked me for permission to throw out the old shingles that he had in his car into my dumpster (we had just finished the roof replacement and the dumpster wasn’t taken yet), threw out several bags, charged me two hundred dollars and left. After that, we called another electrician who determined that there was a problem with the damage of the neutral wire in the town’s system, a few dozen yards from our house. We called an electrician from the town light company and he replaced the damaged wire. Everything worked. All those electrical appliances that Mr. Sylvia thought burned out work fine. Since when I contacted Mr. Sylvia few times by email and text, asked him to send me the receipt for two hundred dollars I have paid, but wasn’t answered and didn’t receive any receipt although the check was immediately deposited. I do not want to judge anyone; I will only say for myself - we are very unhappy with the services provided to us.

If didn't. Called and left a message, never received a call to either decline the work or get the estimate. Generally has very nice reviews, both here and online.
