My constantly wet basement is now dry! It is almost all new concrete. The section where my well pump, water softener was boxed off and filled with rock and was constantly wet. I spoke to a supervisor who agreed that the drain could extend behind boxed area and covered with concrete. I thought the workers were informed by the supervisor. I told them what I wanted done. When they were finished, there were still wet rocks there. I explained again and one of the workers said "you want cement?" Now there's a thin layer of cement that is always wet. The drain pipe outside is only inches from the surface, in the middle of the yard. I can only have wood delivered to one side of the house.

Smell is still there and something they used gives of a cat urine odor that isn't going away - they have not returned my calls. The system was installed two years ago so any residual smell should be gone by now. The quality of the original work was sloppy at best. The foam they used to "seal" the vinyl to the cement looks terrible and it has "unstuck" from the plastic they used - so it is no longer "sealed". The tape they used on seams - unstuck and no longer "sealed". They installed new exit pipes for my sump pump. I had to redo the pipes this year as they all disconnected and the water want back up against the house. They hadn't pitched the pipe correctly and did not use any adhesive to keep the pipes together. Very frustrating to spend so much money.
Description of Work: Spent $12K on a system to "seal" my basement and to get rid of the damp smell in my basement. With their work, they assured me I'd be able to finish my basement. Well, I can't.

Tim was a pleasure to work with. He was able to provide an affordable solution to my issue with an uneven pool deck and front walk. Their poly level system is truly amazing - none of the mess with mudjacking with great results. Time and team arrived on time, worked their tails off, and were complete in one day. The finished product exceeded my expectations and the warranty on the work is second to none.

The guys were great. They arrived when they said they would and completed the job in the estimated two days. They were very courteous and made sure I understand the work that would be performed. They even went over my work plan with me before starting. When they finished they cleaned up everything to the best of their ability and even went the extra mile to try and put some of the larger appliances (washer/dryer) back. Overall I was very happy with the job and would definitely recommend them to anyway in the future.
Description of Work: Leader Basement put in a water mitigation system in my basement to prevent ground water from coming in. They installed a french drain around the whole basement with a sump pump.

Description of Work: We paid $10,000 to have our basement waterproofed, including digging a trench, installing a sub pump, and lining the walls with what the company calls "CleanSpace". Very slick salesman, website, and written materials. During the first installation, the crew made a mess of the house, broke a window, were late both days and left early the second day. They failed to install the wall covering all the way up the wall and when I called, I was promised the installers would be back on Wednesday to finish by the owner of the company himself. Wednesday came and the installers called me from another job and asked if I really wanted them there that day because they would have to stay really late or could they come Saturday when they could take their time and do the job correctly. I told them to come Wednesday as I was promised. I had PAID IN FULL at this point and my basement was in no way waterproofed. A few minutes later, a woman from the company called and said that they installers to whom I had just spoke would not be coming out to finish as promised. I had no choice (after waiting around most of the day) but to accept the installation on Saturday. The installer that came on Saturday was here from 9 AM to almost 5 PM, there was so much work left undone by the first crew. He told us that he didn't realize he had so much to do to finish on the job, despite the fact that I had emailed photos of the job to the company as "finished" by the first installation crew. No one from the company has called to check on the status of the job or to see if I am satisfied. Other than the initial contact with the slick salesman, our experience with the owner and staff at Leader Basement led us to conclude that this is a very unprofessional, disorganized outfit. They used a paint can as a stool and the paint broke and spilled all over the floor. They broke a window and never offered to pay for it or fix it. They used a vintage tool box as a stool as well and left foot prints in it. They were in such a hurry to leave that they left tool behind. It took us three hours to clean the mess they left, including dirty coffee cups and dirty scratches on our washer and dryer. I'm hoping that the product does what it was installed to do, but that remains to be seen.

My husband and I were both very impressed with Leader Basement's Systems Representative. He was on time, a contractor himself, no pressure and he was very helpful in finding a solution to what our basement needed. I was not at home when the installment took place, my husband was. The estimated time to complete this job was exactly what we were told. When the installation was complete all debris was taken and the cellar was spotless. My husband rated their work ethic and professionalism A+. In his exact words; "great bunch of guys very professional". Today 12/9/2014, it has been raining all night and will till tomorrow. I went into the cellar this morning which by now would normally be damp everywhere. It is not. Leader's Basement Systems Inc. is a company that works with you to find the best solution for your particular issue of a wet damp cellar. The cost for us was very reasonable because we had already done some work which was usable. I am sure the cost will differ for whatever the issue may be for other wet and damp cellars but know that their waterproofing system is worth it.
Description of Work: We worked with Leader Basement's representative to address the issue in our Basement. We had already had some work done years ago with a different company and the problem of a damp cellar continued. Our choice was to have installed Leaders Water Guard. This was done to the entire Perimeter of our basement. An open area in the basement floor where water was visible was sealed with concrete. There are three Ports that are used to flush any silt that may build up. Leader will return within one year and flush the system and we will observe so that we are able to do this ourselves. The guarantee is for the life of the house, transferable to the next owner if ever sold.
Clean job, very professional, system is very high end, drain does what it says it will do. I no longer have smell or water in basement. Dehumidification is very high end. Craig is very responsive crew did great job. Its expensive but worth it if you want a dry basement. Highly recommend. You get what you pay for. Craig is reliable and professional. He spent a lot of time with me going over job. Was not pushy or did not rush.

Description of Work: Evaluated basement water issues. A couple of options were presented. While a full blown drainage system was recommended, we choose to go with the option of an industrial strength dehumidifier. This has proven very effective. Free service call after 1 year was very good. Technician was knowledgeable and provided us with helpful information.

Craig Leader runs a well greased and capable company. His employees are ALL caring and hardworking. From the office, to the field, and in a persons home, his people are professional, talented, and know their jobs and how to do them well. The details are as follows: Craig was punctual in our first meeting and took great care to make sure that we knew the systems he provides and how they worked. The systems were exactly what I have been looking for and it was Craig that was there willing to provide it. What followed was just what a consumer wants! The employees were equally punctual, and caring about every thing they do. The office workers were helpful and worked very hard to accommodate all my requests and needs. I am a typical New Englander. My money is important to me as it is to everyone. I am also self employed, in the service sector, and I feel that I got my money's worth and more. Since the installation, there was a problem with the dehumidifier, and Craig and his team, have been all over it to fix the situation. What else can I say........other than "hire this company, and see how satisfied you will be with them"!
Description of Work: A crew came into my crawlspace and took out all debris, stones, blocks, and old rigid insulation and took it all away. They cleaned the entire place before they even started the installation of the system! Thereafter the crew, led by Ryan, meticulously insulated the walls, then lined the walls and floor on top of the water flow mat. All this time they were also taping and sealing ever seam and crack. After this the crew located and installed a water evacuation system with the skill of a landscaping company. They then installed all the pumps and evacuation machinery, and showed my wife and me how the entire system works.

Description of Work: Installed interior drainage & sumps to replace failed exterior perimeter drains. Cleaned up after ground water flooding, prepped for interior basement work and installed system. Crew was great. Excellent clean up after they completed the job. Buried drain pipes after spring thaw. Highly recommend. Expensive, yes, but surely cheaper than re-excavating around foundation if even possible. And this system will last. Good Warranty. VERY pleased and basement very dry!

I went to their Web site and submitted an online request for a quote. The next morning, I had a phone call from a representative to go over the details and set up an appointment for a few weeks later. Craig, the owner, showed up promptly. He inspected the basement, foundation, and existing setup and asked me what my preferred outcome would be (in my case, just a presentable basement dry enough to serve as a storage area, rather than turning it into recreational or office space). We then went over the options using his laptop. I was able to see what the proposed products would look like, and we had a discussion about whether my needs would best be served by the least, middle, or most expensive options. Craig did not push for the most expensive option and agreed with me when I settled for the middle-to-low options. The work was scheduled within a few weeks. The workers, Brandon and Jay, could not have been more professional, pleasant, and hard working. They arrived right on time and worked nonstop. It was clear from my conversations with them that they took great pride in their work, which was evident as they pointed out the details they had given extra attention to. I think the price was more than reasonable for the work that was performed and the equipment required to alleviate the problem. The space is now much more attractive, and dry enough that I can store items, including clothing, without having to worry about mold or damage from a damp environment. The company is based in CT and uses materials manufactured in the U.S. All in all, I don't know what more I could ask of a company. That said, we have not had heavy rains or snow melt since I had it installed. I am confident it will work as advertised, and will check back here if it does not. Based on their positive reviews, I'm not too worried.
Description of Work: Address issues with damp basement that routinely flooded during heavy rains and snow melts: Jackhammer a channel for under-floor drainage and fill with concrete; dig outdoor trench to discharge water 20+ feet from foundation; install sump pump and cap and fill old one; install heavy-duty dehumidifier. Cinder block walls with peeling paint and efflorescence were covered with white panels for a clean look.

They were quick to come out and quote the job. I had lot of questions and the rep went above and beyond to answer questions. He was very professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Even though thy were the mot expensive quote I went with them because of the system. The installers arrived on time and got right to work. They took care keep the concrete dust to a minimum as they jack-hammered the floor. The crew was courteous and friendly but could have presented a more professional appearance. The final look of the job was slightly below my expectations aesthetically but it should accomplish the task. Good Job overall but could improve in some areas.
Description of Work: They installed a basement water proof system around the interior perimeter floor and a sump pump.

The crew was organized and hard-working. Each person in the crew knew what his job was and did it. They told me what to expect and delivered on that. The first day, they did the jack hammering (needless to say, I left for that), laid stone down in the trench, installed the drainage pipe and created the area where the sump pump was going to go. The second day, they laid down concrete over the drainage system, installed the sump pump, dug a trench outside for the drainage pipe there and covered the walls in the wall covering. They also brought in the dehumidifier. After all was done, the foreman walked me around the work, explaining everything and told me what to do should the alarm on the sump pump sound. This system is definitely pricey, but I had been looking at various approaches to basement water for awhile and found none of them are cheap. Leader sends out a book about various approaches to basement water for you to read prior to the sales rep's arrival, which was quite informative. The system is under warranty and the warranty is transferable if you sell the house, which is what I hope to be doing in the next couple of years. All in all, the work was neatly and quickly done; the crew was personable and professional.
Description of Work: The work crew jack hammered a trench around the basement floor perimeter, installed a drainage system and then poured concrete so that it looks quite presentable. The also installed a sump pump and dehumidifier and installed drainage outside for the water pumped outside. They also covered the walls in a vinyl wall covering that looks clean and neat.

They were okay. I have tenants who live in there ever since and I never heard a problem about water. They did what they said they were going to do. I have nothing bad to say. The foreman was good and the guys that worked for him. Everybody worked well. One thing I did like was sometimes, when you get three or four guys working, language can get a little foul and they were very good about not cussing because I do have families living in the building and most of them don't use foul language so it's nice. They were very nice. They cleaned up when they were done, showed me everything that they had done and how to make sure that I knew if it did work, the maintenance and whatever so there's no problem. I would use them again. If I ever have another water problem, they're gonna be the first company I'd call.
Description of Work: Leader Basement Systems fixed the basement. The owner came and he made a couple of suggestions which we had tried so it wouldn't be so expensive and they didn't work. I have nothing against him and I understand it's an apartment house and it's not like your own. I had them come back and they gave me a quote and waterproofed it.

The two men from Leader Basement Systems arrived promptly to complete the work. They were very professional and appeared trustworthy. Before doing any work they again went through the whole process with me, with an estimate of how long they would be there. They walked outside with me to show me about how far out the piping would be for the sump pump, and asked if it would be okay for them to move some small plants in the area. They worked extremely hard and came for two days. They left the work area extremely neat, even replacing the plants that they had to remove in order to install the piping in the yard. I felt comfortable having them complete some of the work while I was not home. Before they left they ran through how the sump pump and dehumidifiers worked and recommended that I get a battery backup for the sump pump at a future time, in case of power outages during large storms.
Description of Work: I contacted Leader Basement Systems and one other reputable contractor for an estimate for waterproofing my basement and advice as to whether they would recommend a sump pump. I had recently purchased my home and had one severe episode of water coming in through the concrete in the basement walls (the walls may be fieldstone, I'm not sure). Both companies were prompt and their service reps personable. The difference between the two is that the other company wanted me to do work above and beyond what was necessary, whereas Leader Basement Systems gave me what they believed I needed based on the problems I had been having, with the understanding that more could be done if necessary. The other company recommended a $12,000 fix, whereas Leader Basement Systems proposed starting off with a $5,000 fix. As a result, I went with Leader Basement Systems. They went through the complete waterproofing procedure with me, which consisted of putting a plastic tarp-like material over the problem areas, and trench drains around the perimeter of that same area, plus in front of the cellar steps where the bulkhead is in case water ever comes in there from the outside. The water will now drip down behind the plastic material and into the trench drains, to be carried out via the sump pump which they also installed. Because I had complained of a musty smell throughout the downstairs living area of my home, they also installed a dehumidifier which will work to eliminate that musty smell throughout my whole house, as well. Altogether it came to roughly $5200.
They were excellent. They were polite. They were quiet. They left everything clean. They came back on a Saturday to finish up the work so I could have my basement back. I chose them over three companies. Their price was higher, but the quality of work was worth it. They gave me a senior discount. The owner spoke with me about my concerns for removing an old steam pipe.
Description of Work: They tore up and laid a new basement. They did drain work as well. They removed an old steam pipe.
