August 20, 2020 WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR! Non completion of work, Left us with unfinished project and strung us along for 7 months. Worst experience we ever had! My husband and I were selling our home to move into another home. We wanted to have some renovations done first. We hired J Goss construction in February 2020. Jarrod definitely talks the talk. I asked him if he was a hands on business owner, and he said absolutely and guarantees his work. That meant a lot to me knowing he would then take pride doing the work himself. He said he could have us in the house by May 1, 2020. This is why we chose Jarrod over numerous other quotes obtained because we were paying two mortgages; so time was an important factor. Our renovations included the following: 15X16 family room with wood ceilings, 9' slider, fireplace box to ceiling with stone surround installed, 2 trapezoid windows, 2 double hung windows, an 18X16 Trex deck, a half wall built in kitchen and repair ceiling where wall taken down half way. Also, install raw oak flooring throught out kitchen, dining room and the new famiy room. He insisted on taking 2/3rds of the money in March 2020; stating needed for materials. Still no work or materials were delivered. I was very patient calling or texting every other week. Are you coming to to the house this week? Weeks went by, no response! Finally in April he sent two guys to install part of my oak flooring so I wouldn't question him any longer. Part of the wood floor was installed; but not level! Jarrod told me they would make sure it was level. I told him I wasn't happy with the floor and that it should have been level. He said "don't worry about it." I advised Jarrod that when they did continue to install the remaining wood floor in the dining room and the new addition; I expected the floor to be level and for him to make sure it was level. Jarrod was on the job only once during the framing of the family room that didn't happen until May! His men installed my 9 ft slider with parts missing and no track for the screen. There was no way to close the screen. Screws showing inside and out. Jarrod said the door was fine and that he wasn't eating the cost of the door to repair or replace. I had to call the sales rep to come to look at it. Sales rep ordered the parts that were missing. Jarrod sent two guys to install the parts and those too were installed incorrectly. Now there are more screws and the screen still has gaps open to the outside to allow bugs to get in. I never got my trapezoid windows. Jarrod said he couldn't put them in. Jarrod did what he wanted when he felt like it. As a customer, in contract with him; I should be able to ask him questions regarding any concerns or issues that may arise with our project. With Jarrod, if you questioned him; he would either completely ignore your inquires or get very upset that you are questioning him and then he would make you wait longer. Now its June and Jarrod sent his two guys a couple of times. Never a full week. They installed the rest of the floor. Jarrod was not there once to make sure it was being intalled properly. STILL NOT LEVEL! The level of the new family room floor did not meet up to the level of the existing floor. I called Jarrod he said "I'll look at it." Once again, he said "Don't worry about it." He had no intention on fixing anything. Now its July and Jarrod sent a "finish carpenter" to do the wood ceiling and build the half wall in the kitchen. This guy (Rick) said he's been doing carpentry for 26 years and that he was a perfectionist. So I though great finally someone thats good at what he does. Well, all he did was complain how sick he was and that he couldn't bend over, he had tooth aches, etc. A weeks worth of work took him a month because he would only work 3 hours every other day and he would bring his son to help him. One day he drove up my driveway, got out of his truck and asked me if I would tie his shoes????? I did of course. I was just happy to have someone working at the house. Well there is no happy ending to this ordeal! The wall he built and the granite shelf is crooked and not level! The drywall work is all cracked and a mess. The wood ceiling is the only nice job done. Jarrod kept telling him to hurry, get done and get out of there. Jarrod also told him to take all their tools out completely. I had a bad feeling he wasn't going to repair the work or finish the project. I text and called Jarrod with no response. It has now been over 7 MONTHS of being patient with him hoping he would finish what he started; my floors were never repaired to make level, sanded, stained or polyed. My slider is a mess (needs repair or replacing). There is siding missing and trim. No Deck, No Trapezoid windows. Crooked half wall, No fireplace wall (still open framing), drywall is cracked and also ceiling cracked after Rick patched. On August 13th, 2020, I get an email from Jarrod saying he was removing himself from my project and that it was in the best interest for his company. BEST INTEREST FOR HIM, NOT US! I am now trying to find another contractor in this busy time to fix their mess and finish my house. DON'T HIRE J GOSS CONTRUCTION! He does false advertising. He's not on the job 100% and does not guarantee his work. You cant discuss any concerns you might have about the project with him. He speaks rudely to you and treats you with disrespect. He left us with an unfinished project and strung us along for 7 MONTHS. I've heard horror stories of contractors like him (Jarrod). J Goss Construction is your worst nightmare!!!!! The above statements are based on our experience and our opinion.
