American Pest Solutions was founded in 1913 by Abraham Russell and he was later joined by his son Matthew in 1929. That same year, the company incorporated and moved to 1421 Main Street, Springfield, Massachusetts. Matthew headed up American for 37 years and in 1956 his son James joined the company after completing his college studies. Jim took over as President in 1971 and has run the company since then. Jim Russell has received numerous civic and industry awards while in this position. In 2005, Jim was selected to be the 13th recipient of the Bart Eldridge award, the highest award given to a pest management professional by the National Pest Management Association In 1986, James' son Robert, became the fourth generation to join the company. By this time, American had moved to it’s current location at 169 William St. in the south end of Springfield. General offices, the service department, warehouse, and garages are located at this address. Bob was appointed to the position of President in 1995 and in 2005, Bob became a Board Certified Entomologist. American continues to be a leader in our field, and in the community, and in March of 2006, American Pest Solutions was honored for it's 60th year as a member of the Better Business Bureau of Central New England. Jim Russell, a past president of the BBB, is quite proud of this honor
