Owner responded very promptly (6AM!) to my call of the evening before. He arrived in the time frame promised and performed the work well and without any problems. Courteous and easy to deal with. I asked him to return in the spring for some additional work that could not be performed due to the weather conditions.

Ted from Evangelous Roofing came out and quoted me to remove old roofing shingles and install new roof. I have not had the work done yet, maybe the spring. I found Ted to be very knowledgeable and courteous! He explained he would be on the job and that was something I was looking for. He sent me all kinds of literature on the materials he would be using. Also sent me samples of tile to pick from. I will call him when I am ready to do the job. Thx Ted!!!

Ted was thoroughly professional and nice to work with. He and his crew did an excellent job. The old roof was a hodgepodge of different kinds of shingles. One chimney had a major leak that another roofing company had supposedly repaired but had done a shoddy job that did not fix the problem. Before the work began, Ted explained clearly and in detail what the job would involve, and what he planned to do to repair the leak. Ted and his crew removed all the old shingles, repaired what needed to be repaired, and fixed the leak around the chimney. Ted was here every day while the work went on. The crew started and finished the work on time and did a thorough clean-up afterward. From now on, Ted Evangelous will be my "go to" person for any roof work.

I unexpectedly landed in the hospital on the day Ted Evangelous dropped by to provide a quote and discuss the job. After giving my wife all the details she phoned me and Ted went through it with me as well, thoroughly answering all my questions and more. Even over the phone, I could tell that this was a guy who took great pride in his work and demanded the same of his employees. When he said he could get a crew out the next day and I expressed concern about rain the the forecast, he promised to get the most up-to date weather report because, "I don't do tarps." In other words, he never starts a job when there is a threat of rain that would require covering unfinished work with tarps. Though still in the hospital the next day, my family told me of a small army of professional roofers who got to work early the next day. Though ours is a small home, each worker moved with incredible precision on the roof and the entire job was done by early afternoon. Ted stopped by himself on several occasions to check on progress. One of his men even took multiple photos of the process so they could be sent to me. From these I could see for myself all the steps that were taken to ensure a solid, watertight roof - one that is guaranteed by both Ted and GAF. Returning home from the hospital was made even sweeter to see such great looking roof. And the yard itself held no clue they had been there - not a nail or crumb of old roofing. In fact, I thought the yard looked even cleaner than I left it, with old leaves and pine needles no longer under the foundation plantings! In short, though no one likes the prospect of having to replace a roof, you cannot go wrong meeting with and getting a quote from Ted Evangelous. In fact, you'd be making a huge mistake not to. He is fair, honest, and a master craftsman. And his team is top-notch and reflects his values as well.

I called 3 companies to give me an estimate to re-do the garage roof. Ted was very responsive. His price was the best. It had been a very rainy week and he said his crew would be able to do it the next day (Saturday) because they had not been able to work due to all the rain. One of the other companies could not even come to give me an estimate until the following week. The other gave me an estimate but would not be able to do the work for 2 weeks. By the time I got up in the morning, they had arrived and had begun removing the old shingles. It was a very hot day but they all worked very hard and diligently to get the job done correctly and efficiently. They were all polite, friendly and hard workers. By 3 pm, the roof was done and the remaining 2 crew members were cleaning up. The roof looks great - no more shingles coming off in high winds!! I would definitely recommend Ted and his crew and plan to call them again for my next roofing job.

I called Ted when I noted that some of the shingles had blown off the roof during a storm. He returned my call within 24 hours and came out that evening to look at the roof to see what needs to be done. He made a point of coming by the next day to do the repair so with the next rain storm, the roof will be all set and not be at risk of leaking. His price was very reasonable and it included the extra shingles that came with the bundle which left behind in case more repairs are needed in the future. I would absolutely use him again.

I originally contacted Ted a few years back to get an estimate for a new roof. His quote was very reasonable. I put off having the work done until this past March. As I had waited too long, after the first big snow storm last year, even though I had raked my roof, I started getting leaks in my ceilings. I contacted Ted and he came within the next few days and put tarps over my entire roof to prevent further damage. After each subsequent snow storm he made sure that my roof was cleared of snow. As soon as the weather turned warm enough, he and his crew replaced my roof. He arrived when he said he would, and each day after he was finished, my yard was clean and looked as if no one had been there. I have since recommended him to two of my friends.

Ted was one of 4 estimates I received. He showed up when expected, did a thorough examination of the work, discussed options with me, and provided a competitive estimate. Because of the time of the year (early winter) and the extent of damage to the existing roof surface (missing shingles in a number of places) Ted suggested that we repair the roof and wait until early spring to start the job. We agreed that when he started the work, he would work in sections (garage, addition, each side of the mansard) and that he would spread the work out over a few weeks. Based on this he provided a very reasonable price including using slate-line shingles for the mansard section of the roof which provide a slate-like look instead of standard 3-tab or architectural shingles. This type of shingle costs more and requires more time and effort to apply properly. Ted sent his crew to the house and they replaced any missing shingles, and re-nailed any loose shingles to make it through the winter. I gave him a small deposit towards the work. Ted contacted me in very late winter, when the weather was just starting to get better (there was still snow on the ground) and said that he was ready to start. We agreed on color and he sent his crew over to prepare. They shoveled the snow around the house where needed and dropped off their equipment so that they could start on the next good day. The crew worked over a period of about 2 weeks, roofing sections as the weather permitted. Instead of spreading this out as Ted had originally planned, he worked more or less consecutively (skipping only when there was inclement weather). His crew came early to prepare, were very professional, and cleaned up every day. There were a couple of extra items, removing a chimney, replacing a vent pipe, extending drip edge over a few windows that were poorly designed, replacing some underlayment, and a good amount of flashing around the windows in the mansard section of the roof. Ted only charged extra (aswe had agreed) for those items that we hadn't already planned for in the original estimate, and his charges were very reasonable. He explained every charge, providing both a material cost and a labor cost. Ted was on-site whenever needed, and contacted me whenever I had a question or he needed to verify something with me. I am very happy with the experience I had with Ted and his crew. They did a fantastic job, at a very competitive price and in less time than we originally intended. I would highly recommend his work and would use him again.

Experience went extremely well. I was unsure who to use as I've never had roof work done before. Through personal references and Angie's list I found Ted's company, Evangelous Roofing. I was fortunate to be able to speak with Ted, the owner directly. I called, he picked up immediately. I explained the problem and Ted quickly explained possible solutions and was able to give me a firm time commitment and approximate estimate. I found Ted to be extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and punctual. Throughout project - although small - he communicated well all during the way. Most importantly he solved my problem quickly and at a fair price. He was also able to suggest other possible areas of improvement for my roof, which I appreciate hearing. I would recommend Ted's company to Angie's list members. It is worth noting that Ted's company offers and uses only GAF/ELK Factory Certified Master Elite product.
Description of Work: During recent snow storm I was using a roof rake to remove snow from my roof. In the process, I tore off a section of shingling that left the underlying wood exposed. With warmer weather projected for the following day I was anxious about further damage that could've occurred if left un-addressed quickly. I needed a small section of roofing shingles replaced quickly to avoid water leaking and damage.

Needed a professional to finish up the hard-to-reach places on an overlay roofing job I had started. Very happy with the work. There was a large error made (in my favor) by one of his crew - they did a large section of the roof they were not supposed to do. The owner was upfront about what happened, but made it clear there would be no charge for the labor, and that I would not be obligated to pay for the materials (although any help would be appreciated). As I got a full roofing job out of it at a discount, I paid part of the cost anyway. The only negative was difficulty getting the detailed breakdown of costs clearly laid out and some resulting misunderstandings, but I do not feel this was anything intentional. I eventually got everything I needed. Would recommend and would hire him again.

This is an update of a prior review...first part up to "would use again in a heartbeat" is my initial review. What has happened since is below that. I had trees come down on two sides of my roof during the Halloween 2011 ice storm. The insurance company sent someone out right away to tarp but arranging for repair was up to me. I had 3 estimates from A rated roofers I'd found on Angie's List. As the Angie's List ratings and comments were comparable, all had GAF master installer certification, and I thought I could work well with any of them I went with Evangelous Roofing on price + coupon (in total about 25% less than the other 2). It took a while to get started on the project because the insurance appraiser said they would only cover damage on one side. Even though Ted, the roofing co owner, took pictures of another damaged section the insurance company said it wasn't damaged "enough" for them cover. Since I was already going to have to pay for part of the work myself in order for the entire roof to match because the existing 10 year old shingles aren't being made anymore, I wanted to be sure the insurance covered all of the damaged area they were responsible for. Ted offered to come meet an adjuster to look at that section together. At the end of the day the insurance company agreed to cover 1/2 of the roof so that wasn't necessary. Ted put together the estimate quickly, explaining in detail what he would do. I paid a small deposit. He left a sample color book of the GAF Timberline HD shingles and gave me local addresses of work done with the various colors I was interested in. I had trouble deciding on a color because I'll be re-siding the house next year so I don't have the final paint color yet to try to coordinate with. After looking at the various roofs I didn't think I liked any of the colors so did some research on line. I thought I might like the color of another style of shingle. Ted researched the cost -- of course I would like them, they turned out to be GAF top of the line and not only very expensive but more labor intensive to install! So I asked if he could bring a few full sized Timberline shingles of the colors I liked on the sample board. Although I think this delayed the start of the project he graciously got a couple of "shingle board" from his supplier for me to look at. As soon as I saw one of those I knew it was the color. Ted was able to have the shingles delivered and start the project the next day. Before the work started Ted checked the roof from the attic. He found that even though the prior roofer had installed a ridge vent he hadn't properly cut the sheathing at the ridge so it wasn't allowing for the proper attic ventilation. Ted re-cut the ridge. During the work he ran into a rotted rake board that needed to be replaced and had a lot of problems with the gutter overlying the old drip edge so the gutters on two sides of the house had to come down (not a problem as I'm going to replace them anyway). The roof has 2 valleys. On the old roof the shingles were cut at an angle down the valley. These are woven across the valley...I like this look much better. Products installed--GAF Lifetime Roofing System:Timberline HD StainGuard labeled shingles with 6 nails WeatherWatch leak barrier 6' at eaves and rakes, in valleys, around chimney, etcPro-Start eave and rake starter stripsCobra attic ventilation and Seal-a-Ridge protective ridge capDrip edge The shingles on a nearby wood shed matched the old ones so he added a layer of new shingles over the visible slope so they'd match the new ones on the house. He removed the old chimney (about 3' x 9') leading and replaced it with new. He replaced an old bubble style bathroom skylight for cost of parts (about $500) + $200 labor. It was an odd size but given how well it fits you'd never know from the inside or outside that the new one wasn't the original. There was one problem in that an accident caused a piece of the bluestone front porch to be "chipped" (3" by about 6" chunk taken out of the leading edge of a stair tread). Ted immediately called to let me know and that he'd arrange for a mason to repair. Communication throughout the whole project was excellent. Anytime he ran into anything unexpected he called to let me know. He also called the evening of day 1 to let me know where things stood and what was left to be done on day 2. Clean up was impeccible...not a nail to be found anywhere. At the end of the project Ted provided a package with all the warranty information and all the info necessary for me to apply for a GAF veteran's rebate of $300. Overall, this was an excellent project...I'd use this company again in a heartbeat! NEW INFORMATION: Unfortunately, Ted has completely dropped the ball on fixing the damage to my steps. Although he initially kept in touch saying that he was having trouble finding someone willing to do such a small job it wasn't long before he stopped reporting in on his efforts. Several emails to him went unreturned. We finally touched base a couple of more times---but he still hasn't done anything to fix the damage. 4 months later I'm now at the point of having hired someone else myself and just hoping I hit the top of their list before it is too cold to do the work. The roof job itself is fine and I've said I'd hire Ted again but in reality if there had been a "maybe I'd rehire" option that would have been what I'd have chosen. I'll be sending the bill for the repair to Ted---of course, I'm wishing I'd withheld a couple hundred dollars for the repair. Lesson learned.

I scheduled so that I could be home to meet the estimator and ask some questions. Ted came out to do the estimate himself. Along the way, he made two bogus claims:1. Gutters cause ice dams. (Actually, ice dams are caused by snow that melts from heat escaping your roof and re-freezes as it reaches the cooler eaves.)2. Ice & Water Shield prevents ice dams. (Wrong again, it simply adds another layer of protection against leaks - it does not prevent ice dams.) And two gaffes:1. Peeled back my drip edge to see how many layers of shingles there were on my roof. (I had to point this out so he would climb back up to bend it back.)2. Snagged his ladder in the powerlines above my driveway. Given the lack of care, I was not eager to have Ted or his crew back on my property. Also, I prefer a company that knows more about their business than I do. Unfortunately for Ted, I am an architect and could call his bluff.

Response from Evangelous Roofing
In regards to this recent comment: The estimate meeting that took place one year ago had full explanation that gutters contribute to ice dams when you have vented drip edge. The gutter fills up with ice during winter months then the vented drip edge gets covered and clogged. This does not allow air from the soffit to the peak (to go through the ridge vent). Evangelous Roofing contractors diligently ask homeowners first if they have had any ice dams. The reason is that the presence of existing ice dams directs us to use a high end product of ice and water shield called Grace. It is the home owner’s best protection against ice dams but will not guarantee that an ice dam will occur. Three factors can influence the presence of an ice dam. 1. Inadequate insulation that causes heat loss. 2. Poor ventilation/no soffit or ridge vents 3. Inadequate or No ice and water shield present. In regards to this specific estimate, the house at hand had many sections with varied layers and differences throughout. The roof had appeared to have been re roofed over the years with multiple layers. As a company owner, I always check these layers to save the homeowner the expense of extra costs of removal. Lastly, with a year delay on reviewing Evangelous Roofing, as well as no contact being made to our company directly, we ask that you please review our company reports here on Angies List. Evangelous Roofing is highly knowledgeable and thorough from start to finish with any roofing estimate or job. Every detail is explained to each homeowner and references show the great customer response. Evangelous Roofing works with architects on many jobs and also carries a prominent title with GAF, as a Master Elite Roofer. Please feel free to refer to the GAF website for 100% feedback. First was the roof. Ted was more that competitive with his estimate. His work was impecable. I'm someone who is very detail orientated and was very impressed when I arrived home form work on both days his people were at my house and they were walking my entire yard with magnets making sure there were no nails or any other debris in my yard. His work was impeccable. Ted takes the time to do things other roofers do not. 6 feet of ice shield insted of just 3 feet other roofers said they woul do. Drip edge everywhere it was needed. Repair wood where needed. The front door. Ted walked us through the process of picking a quility door, ordered the door when the door came in he scheduled an install date and his people were there first thing and ready to work. Just as the roof the work done was outstanding. Siding I can't say enough about the siding job Ted did on my house. For starters he had the materials delivered the day before he started, they did not spend any more time in my yard than they needed. The workmanship is indescrible. I have owned a house with vinal siding, and the workmanship that Ted provided me was unbelieveable. Again I can not stress enough the attention to detail. The siding it's self is dead straight, the way the trim was wrapped and the time it took to make sure it was perfect. Again it's the little details that make it with me. Ted even took the time to speak with my wife about the shutters we have on our house and made sure he himself delevered them, he placed them in my garage and followed up with a phone call to let me know they were there. All in all I would highly recomend Ted Evangelous for any work you need done. His work ethic and professionlisum is beyound reproach.
Description of Work: I contacted Ted Evangelous to get a roofing esitmate. When all was said and done Ted provided me with all the services that my wife and I had talked about. Roof, remove and replace front door, siding.

Ted came on Friday diagnosed the problem as an ice dam issue and said his repair crew could be out the next day and fix it. Two work men from Evangelous came on Saturday morning and completed the work in an hour. It looks great.
Description of Work: Repaired a leakly roof (turned out from an ice dam) above the garage over hang and painted the ceiling stain the leak created.
