Evangelous Roofing

Despite previous high ratings on Angie's List, Mr. Evangelous has not returned multiple telephone calls over the past week,s and now his voice mail is full and not accepting messages. I see other recent similar reviews. Update: Finally received a callback.

In a word, "great". Ted's team showed up and got right to work. What I expected to be a 3 day job ended up being 1-2 days. I work from home so could hear activity overhead all morning. When I stepped outside to see how things were progressing after lunch, I was surprised to see that the whole roof had been stripped and was more than half-shingled. Everything was very clean when they left and someone even came back specifically for pick up and walked all around the house finding little scraps. In the month+ since the job was done, I've found next to nothing in the tall grass, maybe a small shingle corner or two but that's it. As for quality, everything was top notch. I mentioned that our roof has some interesting valleys, there is one section where 3-4 separate roof surfaces come together into a shallow valley. Ted and I had initially talked about using heavy-duty water/ice shield with shingles on top. When the time came, his team had alternate plans. They basically said that they could not shingle it and guarantee that it would not leak so didn't want to do it. Ted and I talked and we ended up putting in a rubber roof in that section. I greatly appreciate that his team was looking out for me and that they were more interested in doing the job "right" rather than what we'd initially planned on. I would definitely recommend Evangelous Roofing.

The company did not answer any of my calls, return any of my messages, and were unresponsive.

It could not have gone better. Ted came to the house and we walked around and I explained to him my issues. Some of them being buckling plywood in the back of the house (south side) and the area I have had issues with ice dams over the years. He explained in clear English why the problems were happening and what he would do to remediate them. From other estimates I received I felt his price was more than fair. The other estimates I received were also not going to the extent he was going to with adding roof vent and Grace Ice & Water Shield. They showed up when they said they would show up and they completed the job in a fast, efficient and professional manner. To correct the previous issues they installed three new roof vents which would allow more heat to vent out of the attic. The excess heat in the attic was causing the nails to pop and the plywood to buckle on the south side of the house. In the area of the ice dam he installed additional venting under the eaves and covered that section of the roof with GRACE Ice & Water Shield a self adhering roofing underlayment. From my research it is a completely waterproof material and some consider it the Cadillac of the roofing industry.. What amazed me was they almost went all the way up the roof with it. they then put the GAF shingles over it. The HD shingles look great and the workers were polite and professional. The cleanup was very well done.

Ted was great. Crew was professional, arrived promptly and did a real nice job. They had their own dumpster on site that does not damage the lawn and they cleaned up everything before leaving. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

We were very happy with the job that was completed. Ted personally came out to our house to discuss roofing options, paying attention to all of the unique details of the job. Our estimate was thorough and timely. Ted has a fantastic crew that works for him. They were at our house in the blistering heat for 12 hours the first day. I was amazed at their strong work ethic. Minimal breaks and chatter--just worked hard!! Rare these days! Ted was personally involved in the installation of the replacment skylights and it was refreshing to see the owner of a company on a ladder sweating with his guys and not just on the ground directing. I would highly recommend Evangelous Roofing. There is a reason he is in such high demand. He does good work and has a great team.

The whole team was courteous and professional. They took the time to explain the process, and answered all of my questions. The job site was kept clean at all times. The owner was present for the duration of the job. I felt confident in their expertise and was kept informed of their progress. .I highly recommend Evangelous Roofing.

Ted is the owner of Evangelous Roofing Co. He gave us the best estimate around and stuck to that. We told him when we wanted the roof done by and he finished the job the day before. We highly recommend Ted Evangelous. He was easy, personable and honest to deal with. His crew did a great job, the roof looks amazing. He vented out our bathroom through the roof.He had a guy that specializes in chimneys mortar, lead and flash around the old chimney which looks the best its ever looked. He has a large crew that worked hard, even as it started to rain. They clean up as they go along, and raked the yard when it was done. The winter of 2015 did a number on most New Englanders. It was the coldest, snowiest winter in history, and our roof sure did take a beating. We knew as soon as Spring rolled around that we needed to replace our roof. Ted was fast and responsive on getting back to us for an estimate. We called him on a Monday to see when he was available to come look at the roof and give us an estimate, and he was at our house on Wednesday of that same week. So within 1 week our entire roof was replaced! We had learned about Ted from good family friends that had their roof replaced by Ted after the hail storm approx 10 years ago. We are not going to need another roof on our house for a long time- but we would recommend Ted and his team to anyone looking for a new roof with a fair price. This is a follow-up review to my 6/14 review in which this contractor was rated A. I had this contractor fix my flashing on my 20 year old roof in April of 2014. In 20 years the roof never leaked. The contractor gave me a fair price and performed the work. About a month later I contacted the contractor and got a fair estimate for a complete roof replacement. This work was performed in June of 2014. In October of 2014 I inspected the attic and noticed water on the inside wall near the chimney. I immediately contacted the contractor. He suggested that I have the chimney sealed through his friend. Which I did at an additional cost to me of $550. This did not work either as I kept getting water in the same spot. I contacted the contractor again and he was very unresponsive. He promised to come over and look at the flashing. At one point he even said "I only made $500 on this job!" At the end of January he finally sent one of his employees over to put a temporary patch on the space where the chimney meets the roof. After this horrible winter in the Northeast I contacted him again on 3/5/2015 as the attic had thawed out. 3/5/2015 was the 1st 40 degree day since December 2014 and the attic was wet again. I got no response. On 4/1/2015 I filed a formal complaint with Angies List and opened a complaint with GAF the company that warranties the roof for life.

I found Ted Evangelous to be very professional, personable, friendly and conscience regarding his business. Ted returned my phone calls in a timely manner. His estimate was the most reasonable. He appeared on the job when he said he would. The time line he quoted as to when the job would be completed was right on schedule. My yard was cleaner after the roof was completed than before!! He was very particular in ensuring I was satisfied with the job. His crew appeared to work well as a team. I would highly recommend Ted to anyone who wants the best in the business!! The quality of Ted and his work is nonpareil!!

This provider claimed he cleared some ice dams on our roof. Very minimal evidence that any work was performed. Charged $800. Would not return phone calls or emails when attempting to get in touch after work was performed.

No interaction with owner at all. Three phone calls placed and I sent two emails through Angie's List about scheduling service and there has been no response. Only contact was with the sales manager who states different resolutions on different days. Cant pin a time down or get anything in concrete. The last time I talked to him he stated he was speaking with owner that night and would hear back from them the next day and since have heard nothing.

Very good experience. We have 4 skylights on a screened porch and hadn't intended to replace them, but Ted suggested it would be better to replace seeing they were 28 years old. He explained everything , but wasn't pushey about his suggesttions. We decided to follow his advice and are happy we did, when the skylights were removed they had quite a bit of water damage and they would have needed replacing in a few years which would have been more costly. His crew is the hardest working group we have ever seen ( as is Ted). They were careful with tarps and did a good clean up. We're having heavy rain, and the leaks we had are gone--yeah!

Ours was not a job that the average roofing company could or would tackle. It involved the tear off of wood shakes and two layers of asphalt shingles and then laying down plywood sheathing. It also involved several steep pitched gables and a very complicated area where four planes of roofing and siding met that was then recovered in rubber. Of all the quotes I received Ted Evangelous? was by far the most comprehensive, competitive, and professional. He took the time to explain in detail what we should expect as far as the timeline, process, and materials to be used. I liked the fact that a dump truck was used rather than a dumpster to haul away the debris. This allowed us the use of our driveway during the week long process (lengthened due to rain delays). Ted spent a good portion of the job onsite managing and supporting his team. It was a pleasure to see the teamwork and skill of his crew who put in very long days to accomplish the task. I very highly recommend Evangelous Construction.

Called Ted in April for leak. He came promptly and fixed. We've been thinking about replacing 20 year old roof anyway. Called Ted for estimate. Gave very fair price and explained all options. Deducted cost of repair from new roof price . Very professional, neat, courteous. Except for new roof could never tell they were here. Even checked in with me via text. Thanks Ted. Highly recommended!!

The crew arrived at 7:30 AM as arranged, worked like Trojans all day long and did not leave until the job was complete at about 7PM. They were polite, and did not beat up the shrubs around the house. They swept the yard for nails and cleaned up all their trash.

Ted showed up on schedule as promised with a full crew. The roof looks good, as does the rotten trim he replaced. Excellent clean up.

I had called to arrange to have Evangelous roofing come out. He said he would come Wednesday 5/7/14 late afternoon and would call with a time. He called me on Wednesday morning and said he could come at 2:30pm, I had a meeting at 12:30pm and said I would rush home to meet him. 2:30pm came and went, no call, at 3:15pm I called the office and left a message, nothing. I called an left a message that evening that I was very disappointed that night as I had heard nothing from the company not even an apology! It is obvious that Mr. Evangelos cares nothing for his potential customers and business must be that good that he can throw it away. If he can't even show up for an appointment, or then follow up with an apology how could you trust him to show up once he has you hooked and to follow up if there is a problem. We got his information from Angies list and his reviews were good, so this was so disappointing. It is now 5/10/14 and still no call or apology, hence this review.

Evangelous Roofing may be good, but if he never contacted you back for your problem professionally, it is as good as an "F".

Job performed as explained and service was excellent

I had called Evangelous Roofing during the winter about an ice dam. Ted was responsive and helpful in his advice. I needed to replace a roof quickly, and Ted sent out a crew the next day, literally. They were quick, professional, and cleaned up so well, my wife didn't even know we had a contractor working on our property. I will use Evangelous Roofing for any future needs. Thank you!

Everything went fabulous. Not one leak after this whole winter! Every day I would go out and check, but obviously it is sealed perfectly. The guy that did the work was very knowledgeable and knew what he was doing. I trusted him completely. They were hard working and stayed late to get the job done. It was a great experience. Ted was very good at returning phone calls and I enjoyed working with him as well.

This winter has been rotten. For a while, the amount of snow on our roof was truly impressive, as were the ice dams that formed. We found Evangelous Roofing here on Angies List and liked the reviews. So we called them. Ted answered the phone himself and said he'd be out the next day. He was and he and his team cut channels in the snow and the ice so that we might get some drainage. Then it snowed again. And again. The first sign of a thaw led to water coming into our living room in the afternoon. We called Ted. He and his crew were back the very next day. They cleared off the entire problem side of the roof, cut channels in the ice, and the water stopped coming in. We were very impressed with their responsiveness, their professionalism, and, frankly, the fact that they got up on the roof with a foot or more of snow on it and no one got hurt. That wasn't something I was even going to try myself--and for that reason alone, they were worth the price. We'll use them again for our roofing needs. Professional. Responsive. And good value. Great experience all the way around.

Ted was very quick to respond to my emergency call for help when we had water seeping into our house through our bay window. He asked for details about what was happening and provdided a clear overview of what the problem could be, issues we might need to look into further in terms of insulation etc and how he would go about resolving the immediate problem. He was able to fit us into his schedule quickly so that we could address the issue before the next snow storm that was scheuled to hit within a few days. Ted is extremely professional and I would not hesitate to call him again for a similar issue or for other services he provides.
