Orchard Valley Heating and Cooling

Very responsive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had a series of "hiccups" in getting the furnace to stay on during the coldest days of a very cold winter, and it took some trial and error for the problem to be identified and fixed. Their responsiveness was excellent throughout this process, though the problem itself was frustrating. Would certainly recommend.

I've talked to lots of HVAC guys in recent months, and in terms of responsiveness and level of knowledge, these guys are tops. James is the only Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer (means he's had the training) within 20 miles of me. This is important because while new systems can be very efficient, they often don't live up to the hype, and the problem has everything to do with installer skill. Installer skill is more important than price, brand, warranty or any given feature. I've spent months reading homeowner sob stories on Internet forums about expensive systems that don't perform to expectations or fail entirely too quickly, and it's usually because a plumber and electrician joined forces to attempt installing a complex system they knew nothing about. As you might expect, having the best equipment and best training puts your services in demand, and as a result you can ask top dollar for your time. Orchard Valley Heating and Cooling gets top dollar for their projects. If you're rich, I strongly suggest that you contact them. With heating oil prices falling dramatically, I don't know when it will make sense for me to install a new system, much as I might like to.

Received one response, I replied, then no responses. I received responses and quotes from other vendors.

He had to spend a lot of time on a weekend. But he fixed and no problem since then.

Excellent. Jim arrived for the estimate. He knew exactly what I needed. He and his son did the work. They are professional ,courteous and did a great job. All my questions were answered and I was satisfied I made the right choice. I had 3 other estimates before choosing Orchard Valley.

This is the email I got three days after he no-showed for the estimate: and quot;Robert,My apologies for missing this email and the appointment date and time noted. I had the Flu for a couple of weeks and my email was pretty backed up and buried this one. Im going to be away from this Thursday thru next Monday but could stop by wed or Thursday am next week. Best,Jimand quot; I did not reschedule and decided to use another company for the work.

I was not able to get to the bottom of the problem, and he apologized for not being able to come right over. He did suggest that I think about signing up for Guardian Care coverage through the gas company, which jogged my mind that I did, indeed, have that coverage! I had signed on to it several years ago, and it was not direct billed to us (it was included in our monthly gas bill) so I had forgotten we had it. I had called other closer contractors in our area, and none had expressed concern or tried to assist as Jim did. He is #1 in my book, and I would highly recommend him as someone honest to do business with - always a concern in these times.

Jim was identified as the go-to person for this kind of work by the contractor that built our house. He was punctual, immediately understood our needs and came up with an elaborate plan to address our needs. We had solicited input from other groups that generated plans that on further research would have been costly and likely would not have addressed the humidity appropriately. Jim clearly understood the issues, understood the needs and the thermodynamics involved. In the end we decided to defer the project for now due to cost issues, and try more conservative measures and limit our use of our pool. If this does not address the humidity issue, we will use Orchard Valley.

At this point I am waiting for him to call back when he sets an appointment up with another customer not far from my home. If he doesn't call soon I will call and remind him that I am waiting. At this point it is only and quot;show and telland quot;, not physical service which I am waiting for. Hopefully he will call soon on his own.

Jim set up an appointment for the same day he returned our call. He came to do the routine summer inspection and cleaning of our outdoor air conditioning unit. After removing the resident dead mice, he inspected the AC unit and did whatever work that was required. Then Jim and my husband went into the basement to check out the electronics of the system. All the time, Jim was giving my husband advice about how to maintain the whole HV/AC system, including what kind of filters to use in the furnace. All was well, so he didn't have to do anything. My husband asked him to walk through the house to see the three thermostats that govern our 3-zone HV/AC system, and Jim gave him advice about how to use it efficiently. One thermostat may be out of order, so he told us how to test it over the next few days and to get back to him if it seems to be malfunctioning. My husband was very pleased by the professional service and we would definately call Orchard Valley Heating and Cooling again.

Jim and his crew came in to remove my old furnjace. They put down working blankets to protect the floors. Each worker had h is job and they all worked together. Coming up the stairs wasn't an easy job but they did a great job. After everything was up and running, Jim went over all the controls explained how everything worked. He came back later as the heating season went into full swing to make some adjustments.

They were punctual, professional, work was completed as agreed upon with thorough explanation of what was done and why it was necessary. Wonderful experience and would highly recommend. Very professional, but also easy to talk with and good customer manners/workmanship.

They were on time, efficient and cleaned up completely. They charged the price as stated and discussed the future issues.

We are just at the beginning but all meetings have been great so far. Extremely knowledgable.

Jim Patterson is a consummate professional. He is very knowledgable and personable. He responded to my request for help late on Friday afternoon and stayed until the heat was working. I would recommend Orchard Valley to anyone and everyone.

Jim Patterson, the owner, did very well but he is high in price. He is high on his labor and parts. He charges $98 an hour. But he does do good work. He is very competent and honest. He responds when he tells you he is going to respond and do the work.

The work turned out good. We are real pleased with them. He is very knowledgeable. We would use him again. He's the best.

We have a very good relationship with them. They have been very responsive and have been very helpful in emergency situations. He has worked really hard for us to try and save us some money when he can and he's very considerate. We highly recommend them.

The maintenance went well. Jim arrived promptly at the arranged time. He informed me of cost effective replacement parts for some discontinued equipment in our system. Jim also took the time to describe the requirements for the new oil spill insurance regulations. He was also kind enough to point out a plumbing leak in our basement that had gone unnoticed.
