Unresponsive and Unprofessional. Workers didn't show when they said they would. They did not finish the job, but told me they did. Left trash everywhere. They also installed an outdoors unit on my neighbor's property and want me to pay $7,500 to move it. This would have just been a simple fix, but they have been making it extremely difficult leaving me no choice but to file a complaint against their license and their bond.

I only used them once for my central A/C that had stopped working in the middle of a hot summer. They came out the same day, so I thought that was great. I live 2 hours away so I did not meet them. They called and said that they fixed the problem, I paid them and they left. A few days later my realtor went into the home and the basement pipes were frozen solid in August. They did something that caused the A/C to run at the coldest level non stop. They sent another guy out who said he really didn't know much about A/C, so we had to wait for a 3rd guy who fixed it a couple of days later. So I would not use again.

I am a chief engineer unlimited USMM (retired), with EPA niversal and NATE certifications. I consider EF Winslow to be a first-class operation from the office personnel to the tech that they send to your home. Their techs are actually trained and re-trained to mfgr certifications. I will not trust any of my house "mechanical equipment" to be worked on by anyone else on Cape Cod, it is such a pleasure doing business with them. They know how to actually service whatever they sell to you. A+ I further intend to have them install a new standby generator this year for my home.

I know somebody that works there very well. We’ve been using them ever since we moved out here basically, and they are going to do our new bathroom. It was basically an hours time because what he fixed was very simple. After he saw what the problem was, which basically it just needed to be re-caulked. He didn’t have to go crawling around in the crawl space. He said, “well, you know this is so easy, but I’ve got to charge you per-hour. They came out that day. We’ve been using them for the past 7 years. My first impressions of them was all very good, all “A’s”. It was a matter of just opening the phone really. He had just moved to the area and there were some weird things going on with the water heater and they came right out, helped us, so we’ve liked them ever since. It also helps that I know somebody that works there, who is a good friend of mine, who hasn’t done the work himself, but he knows the people who have. So, I get a rating from within. That helps out a lot. It’s like a little internal reference and that’s something you’ve got to go by.

I called numerous places and they were the only ones available and it needed to be attended to right away. The only thing is after the fact that they had to have it checked out as far as the town permits and things for the plumbing and electrical. They ended up having to come back other times to take care of that, so that was somewhat of an inconvenience. They were very very good at responding to my problem. In another words, I talked to them on a Thursday, they came early Friday but I had to leave to pick up my daughter at the airport. I came home and they were gone, but no communication was there in regards to it all. I was told and I googled that it was a high price.

Good. Barry called before he came and was within the time window expected. It had been 7 years since it was last pumped so we were expecting issues. Barry found the unmarked tank and added a riser so it would be easier next time, which should be every 3 years. Once completed, a flush of the toilets helped him confirm all was well. I also bought some bio-clean to help maintain my system,

This was an awful experience and I don't take lightly writing bad things about small business owners. Bought a new summer house on the cape. I called to get and estimate for some replacement of bath fixtures but I new that there would need to be some minor modifications done so I requested an estimate. They stated it was two weeks out for an estimate so I booked the appt. and waited. Drove an hour and a half and took the day off from work to meet the "estimator". Got a call a half hour before my time window from the plumber stating he was running early as they made a mistake in booking his earlier appt. on the wrong day so he was running early could he come by. I said fine I was there. He showed up rather frantically wearing a ripped t-shirt and shorts. Now I get it they are plumbers but for all the reviews I would have at least thought perhaps a company t-shirt free from rips and stains all over it after all this was for an estimate. He asked me to show him the work needed and within two minutes stated..."I can't do this you need an estimator" I was upset to say the least but kept my cool and said that is what he was supposed to be. He said I can't do this today you need estimating. He proceeded to ask me to show him the work anyways which I did....One of the items was simply reconnect the existing ice maker water line to a brand new fridge. He said he could do that in two minutes as he felt bad....He insisted on swapping out the plastic ferrule for a metal one at the tip of the water line. Again just two minutes.Well didn't quite work he created a crack in the line and when he turned it back on the water proceeded to pour for minutes all over the brand new floors we just put in. I scrambled for a bucket and towels and continued to clean as the bucket was filling. A half hour later he finally fixed the leak...it was raining but mud was tracked all on the brand new wool carpets we had just put in...(again I swallowed it and rolled with the punches)... He stated he would have the office call me right away and also remarked on how well I was handling all the bad news from EF Winslow....(again I preserver....Well needless to say that call never came and I called them....She stated "is that what you wanted an estimator" I said yes that was the entire point of the call. Put me on hold came back and realized they had made a mistake and requested I give them a chance to make it right and they would call me back by the end of the day to try and get an estimator out asap.....End of the day came...no call so I went back to Boston. No call the next day....Finally on the 3rd day they call and tell me they could have someone there Friday....now realize this is a week from the original date and this is them trying to make it right..... (now meanwhile I have lost total confidence and called another plumber). I express that I already found someone as I hadn't heard back as promised....To that she stated...ok and hung up. I still wasn't going to give a bad review until the other day when I receive a bill for 119.00 for ice maker line hookup....Which I can tell you was a disaster. Now I am a complete believer in "nothing is free" but given the water leak, the mud tracked through the house, the lack of follow through and the complete waste of my time and missing a day from work I think someone should have reconsidered sending insult to injury in a bill for 119.00. Now that is when enough is enough and I will give a small business a poor review. I am sure the response will be standard as they have to bill for their time which I can understand but given the comedy of errors and I am sure I am not going to be able to bill for my time or aggravation on their errors...Not sending that bill is fair and honest customer service. I will say I chose them for their reviews, but was left totally let down and would caution others on what seems to be a very disorganized disconnected business model. I can't imagine what happens in season on the cape...could only be that much worse. Ultimately the plumbing has been done the "plumber I called" was there the next day did awesome clean and drama free work... I just hope that someone in management at EF Winslow can check his ticket and ultimately listed to my hopefully recorded voice mails as every stitch of this review is 100 percent accurate and factual stated.

Very disappointed. Never before have I written a negative review, including on Angie's List. l even filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, which is something I never even considered before and I am in my late sixties. I just want to share my experience so that it might benefit others. They fixed the original problem and I paid them, but the same problem came back again. Attempts at fixing it failed until one competent tech, Jeff, realized it was the warrantied part they had installed earlier. He replaced it and the problem was fixed. Another tech came back later to swap out a part that he mistakenly thought might have been the issue. When replacing the part he failed to connect a wire which led to a low heat problem. I thought it was totally unrelated to Winslow's work. Plus, Winslow had said they would not be servicing us again so I called another company to fix it. They did for $199. I sent 2 emails to Winslow, nothing. I called and was told the owner and accounts manager were "out of the office". The message I left for him was never returned. I believe we could have worked this out by talking it over. They ignored me and I feel they should have been responsible for the charges incurred because their tech forgot to connect that wire.

Our experience began with a meeting with EF Winslow's Glenn Raymond. The company's professionalism was on center stage immediately as Glenn arrived a few minutes early and was familiar with the background materials that had been prepared for the project. During this initial review it was clear Glenn was attentive, open-minded, and a true expert in the plumbing field. Glenn provided thoughtful suggestions--such as using a different brand condensing boiler--which upon some research is a well known manufacturer, just more so in Europe. He also carefully assessed the difficulties associated with working in a very old house (>200 years) and took into account the important details like not damaging the interior of the preserved home while installing panel radiators. Glenn produced a well documented project cost estimate within a few days, and based on the fact the Glenn was the only bidder we had contacted who actually demonstrated an understanding of the project and a willingness to install it as it was engineered (as opposed to suggesting a different approach, which happens more frequently than one would logically expect), we hired E F Winslow. With the project now completed and the system up and running it is difficult to offer the praise that E F Winslow deserves in a brief review. However, it started with flexibility and good communication. We elected to purchase the radiators ourselves as there was a discount provided to the engineer of the project. E F Winslow was totally accommodating and we worked together to get the radiators on site and coordinate the project start date. This process was quite smooth, pretty much all by e-mail with excellent responsiveness. The next major milestone was a pre-work meeting with the project leader, Bob. Bob also came aware of the requirements of the project and spent well over an hour helping get the radiators into the house and reviewing all aspects of the installation (most of this work was done without any owner/engineer oversight). After a thorough review and identification of all important decision points the project began as planned. E F Winslow provided a spectacular, highly experienced team of no less than four persons to handle the installation. One great aspect of this organization is that they have superb on-staff support from expert carpenters and electricians. One team carefully worked on each radiator installation (nine total) and did an absolutely beautiful job getting from the basement up into the house often after notching small sections of 200+ year old sill (sill that is on a full foundation as system was installed in a full basement, which was critical for a proper job). Each and every radiator came out excellent. The electrician installed three different zone thermostats and when you look at the work you cannot imagine the care that was taken to only drill one small hole in the floor to snake the control wire up to the thermostat locations (including the second floor). Not only competent mechanically, but quite artful at planning floor and ceiling penetrations and not impacting the interior of the house materially. They also were willing to work closely with us to allow pre-finishing of some exposed piping in order to avoid making some of the finishing work more complicated. They were happy to stay a little late one day and work to get the job installed right the first time. The boiler installation is 100% perfect. The layout of the piping is excellent and all the controls are set-up nicely so the system is very easy to monitor and work on as need be. The person handling the boiler installation was very experienced and it was a pleasure to work with somebody that really cared about the work and how it was going to look. It was so awesome we could not help but text a few pictures to some geeky friends given it was picture perfect. The start-up went off without any issues (it is important to note this job was completed over a two week time period with roughly 7-8 days of active work). When we arrived at the house a day or two after completion the system was running perfectly and had been set-up exactly as had been discussed. In summary, it is pretty difficult to work within preserved old homes and E F Winslow showed how well a project can go when experienced staff that know how to pay proper attention to detail work as a team.

E.F. Winslow sent an unprofessional plumber who my parents met for me at my home. They were very distressed at his attitude. He was loutish and perfunctory with them. My mother described him has ill prepared. For this simple job, he had to go to purchase a part (and I was charged for the time). He demanded payment right away from my parents (I could not be there because I was out of town unexpectedly). I called him to give him a credit card number, but his phone reception was not that good. The next day I called the main office with the intent to pay them and they told me how disappointed they were that I could not pay them upon service completion. Which, of course, raised my hackles. However, the plumber did not finish the job because he did not have the appropriate tool to remove the plug at the bottom of the shower valve (nor do I). So the job remains unfinished to this date. The main officed could not provide me with the bill even the next day as the plumber had not provided them with the completed work invoice. Frankly, I was upset with their attitude and their intimation that I was remiss on paying them at the time of service (which I tried to do). All in all, not a very pleasing experience. The leak was fixed, the valve was partially installed and the faucet handle unstuck. So the work was done, almost. But they are not customer service oriented. Jeff

I've purchased an older home that had not been very well taken care of. One of my outside faucets would not turn off, resulting in a necessary turn off of all of the water. I called EF Winslow on the recommendation of a friend - they scheduled a time within 24 hours. The repairman came out on time and did the repair in a very timely way. He looked at an extra problem that I had and told me the best way to repair that and assure me that it was not an emergency - which was very helpful information as I could put off to the fall. The job came in under what I expected. I could not have been happier and will be calling them again.

The plumber called 20 minutes before arriving. He actually was a few minutes earlier than the appt, which worked out great for me. Copletely drained all plumbing fixtures, radiators, toilets, washing machine, outdoor shower etc and put anti freeze in all systems where needed. This is the second year that they have done this service for me. I will continue to use them. Punctual and professional and the plumbers that I have had were just nice people!
