Billy is wonderful. He estimates accurately, he arrives on time, he does the work cleanly and efficiently and he is always willing to go the extra mile for the customer. As Billy would say, I'm a rather "particular" customer when it comes to how I like to have things done. Fortunately, Billy is equally as demanding when it comes to quality, so I never have to worry how things will turn out with him. With Billy, you always know what you're going to get and their's nothing more important than that.
Description of Work: This particular project was the installation (and materials) of a new front door, a few interior doors, and crown moulding. However, I've had Billy do every type of project over the years from windows to attic staircases.

Billy was one of several contractors I contacted for quotes; his price was on par with a few other builders we contacted. The other contractors I had come out for quotes were a bit pushy in their sales pitch and tried hard to upsell me on composite decking, rail systems, and lots of other work. However, Billy was very relaxed, knowledgeable, answered all my questions, and didn't push anything beyond what I was asking for. He arrived on the date work was scheduled to start and completed it in about 4 days. It probably would have taken much less time but the weather was very unforgiving and that forced him and his crew to stop early a couple days. However, they were here about 7AM every morning, were very friendly and professional, and didn't leave any kind of mess. The final cost was a few dollars under his original quote. The new deck looks great and we have no complaints.

I reached out to a number of contractors on Angie's List, as well as to another contractor (not currently shown on Angie's List) with whom I'd worked in the past. Billy Neary was the only one who called me back very promptly and he agreed to meet me at my apartment very early the following morning (before I had to be at work) to scope out the job. Within 24 hours he provided me with an estimate and he and his partner showed up to do the work three days later, exactly when he said he'd be there. The repair, which involved a fair amount of detailed finished carpentry, was beautifully performed within a couple of hours. Moreover, because he was able to salvage some of the existing hardware, he charged me less than his original estimate. Throughout, Billy was exceedingly professional and a pleasure to work with. I would engage him again without hesitation.
Description of Work: Entrance door to my apartment was broken, and had to be substantially repaired to provide a secure closure.

He didn't complete the final work. My main complaint, though, is that he overcharged. When my insurance rejected the claim because the final cost was so high, he refused to itemized the cost of his work for insurance company.
Description of Work: They rebuilt four walls that were taken out to the studs. They put in the blue board and put in new window and door frames. He, also. plastered and put in ceiling and baseboard. trim.

[member name removed], I am very sorry that you are unhappy with what i did at your home, but the truth of the matter both and your wife did not know what was been done at your home, Your wife show me what was been done at your home and when i went to do the work at your home you did not know what i was doing in the attic, you thought i was plywood the entire attic, in which i was told only half the attic was getting done, Regarding the rest of the work i priced at your home it all got done, and and both you and your wife give me the go ahead to do the work that i priced And all the work was itemized and i used the same writing for the invoicing so that was adequate for the invoice. If my prices were to high you should have hire someone else, And what i did not do i am lost on that one, and before i got paid you were both ask if everything is done right and that you were happy and you were, I do not work with insurance companies thats for the homeowner to deal with, and the invoice that i gave you to get paid was more and adequate and was detail I also don't get where you get off in grading my company that way you did, for when you were happy when i left and the guys that work for me can back that up Thank you

Willie was great to work with. We had an old door that was non-functional. He came in for a quote on time and was quick with a follow up. We found the price to be towards the higher end, but quality also deserves a higher price, and we got 100% of what we paid for. On the day of work he showed up right on time, and got right to work. His work is great. We could not be happier with our door. We paid exactly what was quoted. We will be using him again with any future needs of our house.
Description of Work: Removed old 1940s door and frame. Installed new frame and door with custom door latch and deadbolt. New oak threshold. Repaired plaster damage

It went great. Billy Neary was very responsive and did the work without us even being there. I got home to a large shed with shiny new doors that won't rot out after a couple seasons.
Description of Work: I had a shed out back with two rotting doors -- the previous owner had used "indoor" doors on the shed, so they were in rough shape. Even worse, the opening of the shed was a non-standard size, so the doors were custom cut to fit the opening. Neary Const replaced the rotten doors with fiberglass doors meant for the outdoors and also adjusted the width of the opening so that no custom door cutting was necessary.

Billy was very responsive when I called for an estimate for the work to be completed. He provided a detailed estimate for each item of work and was prompt in answering all of my questions. He did an excellent job with the work requested and provided helpful suggestions for items that could be beneficial in the future (even if they were outside his scope of work). I have requested Billy to perform some additional work. I have even recommended him to my neighbor. The quality of work is very good and I would highly recommend him.

Billy, and the carpenter working with him - Dermot - were wonderful. They were timely, super friendly and I felt very comfortable having them in my house. The work performed was excellent and they actually did some extra work at no extra cost. The finally tally was exactly as Billy had estimated, even though he ended up having to shop around for a piece of post to make using one of our original railings work. The solution was creative and looks great. We are thrilled with the finished product and will definitely use Billy again for future projects. No question.
Description of Work: The railings on all of our interior stairways in our 1842 house were only 24" high, scary low for toddlers. Billy came in and raised the railings to code height, which required replacing spindles and one railing, though he impressively was able to reuse the railing that comes down from our second floor to our entryway.

. It went flawlessly. Bill had originally planned to do the work two weeks before but it didn't fit well with my schedule so he changed the work date. Bill responded quickly to all my emails and texts so that I knew exactly what was happening and when. Since the design of the porch was one that I came up with and the dimensions of the porch were odd due to the age of the house Bill had to custom make my half walls. When the job was finished he not only swept and vacuumed the porch and steps he also swept and vacuumed the walkway and the driveway. My next door neighbor who is in the construction business commented on the quality of the work and the neatness of my property after Bill left. This is the fourth time I have used Bill Neary for home repairs and I am saving money for project #5. If you need any home repairs done do yourself a favor and give Bill a call. This man is a rare bred in my experience with contractors -- he is on time, on budget, communicates and is neat.

I was working at home that day and observed Bill and his crew at work. They were at all times professional, competent, tidy, friendly, responsive to questions. We are very satisfied with the stairs they built for us (which I watched go together step by step), as well as incidentals such as the cleanup effort, the punctuality, and the professionalism exhibited at all stages. Bill Neary is a solid contractor, and I would not hesitate to hire him again.
Description of Work: Replaced an interior staircase which had a couple bad treads that were near failure. Tore up carpeting and dismantled old stairs. Purchased all materials for a new staircase. Built new staircase. Did not paint or finish the stairs but recommended an excellent contractor who ended up painting them later.

Billy was great. He responded to my call by the next day from when I left a message on his phone. We corresponded by email to discuss the project, negotiate and agree on a quote, and schedule his visit. He arrived on time and completed this long overdue project in the time and cost he estimated. He was neat, professional and performed excellent carpentry with the materials, cuts and installation along with extra touches including sealing. Extra bonus from sealing this entranceway was the improved insulation to the basement which is much warmer now and less humid because all the outside air no longer gets in. Highly recommend Billy for his services, professionalism and timeliness.
Description of Work: A poorly installed door into my basement from the development construction company allowed critters into the basement for years. I've had to control with exterminator services for years and finally searched for a carpenter to fix the doorway. Billy sealed the framing from the bulkhead between the framing and the foundation with quality materials and technique.

Billy's a gem and we're having him back next month to upgrade and reframe a door. Our house is over 50 years old and in places it shows. We had rows of rotten clapboards that the previous owner had painted over, severe water damage on the clapboards where the electrical and gas pipes enter the house, flashing that had never been installed on the roof, a disconnected gutter due to a rotten board behind it and wood so soft surrounding a large picture window that you could put your finger through it. We called Bill on a Friday, Sat morning he arrived to diagnose the issues and by Saturday afternoon we had a quote. We sought out a couple of others and he was right in line. He was here bright and early the day after we hired him. He and his partner Brian worked quickly, efficiently and cleaned up well after themselves. Bill's greatest strength beyond his work ethic in my view was his honesty and ability to improvise. We initially planned for this to be a $15k job. He worked hard to save us money. He found a way to install the new clapboards and repair the damage around our electrical and gas pipes which saved us from hiring an electrician/plumber. He found a way to repair the gutter and the board behind it for $450 vs. the $2800 the alternative method would have cost. Great experience with Bill and we intend to continue using him.

This is the 2nd time Bill and his crew have worked on our house. It went perfectly. here are some key highlights. 1. Bill is easy to contact and responsive via both phone and email 2. Fair price, I shopped a bit and talked to others who had work done similarly and his jobs are priced competitively. 3. Quality work. The deck came out beautifully. The decking is great and he was responsive to our concerns about how things should be done. There was a problem with the deck not being square when originally built and he had some nice workarounds for this problem. For the exterior wall repair they did a nice job removing old clapboards/fascia boards, etc and fixing the root cause of the problem. it looks as good as new! Tested by a heavy rainstorm the next day and the original problem was gone! No more risk of undue rot. 4. He has an assortment of funny employees that he draws upon, quite entertaining. Bill and his team are a hard working group of individuals. They do a quality job, clean up nicely after themselves. Furthermore, he was able to get to us quickly and get the job done. As this is the 2nd time we've used Neary Construction, i can say with certainty that both experiences have been excellent. Highly recommend.

Bill Neary is fantastic to work with. He came by to see what we needed to have done the very same day I called him (a Saturday!!). He was responsive and flexible. Initially we thought we wanted to re-do our back deck with some type of composite decking (like Trex) but as we considered the options (and read lots of reviews of people who weren't happy with composite decking over the long-term) we decided to just use pressure treated wood. Even though this would be a less expensive job, Billy didn't flinch and was happy to provide a quote for the less expensive material. He re-did our entire back deck in 2.5 days. We were very impressed with the quality of his work, his pleasant attitude, his thoroughness, his responsiveness and his fairness. Don't hesitate to call him. He's the right choice. We look forward to working with him again very soon. Thank you, Billy!

After interviewing several well rated Angie's list candidates, Billy was clear from the onset to the our best choice. He and his team were professional, curteous. His pricing was competitive, fair and My husband and I were a bit indecisive, Billy patiently came several times prior to obtaining the job to help us think things through and plan appropriately. He was a real help. Once we decided and began to moved forward, Billy was great to fit us in. He committed to dates and did all the work within the expected time. He and his crew were very respectful, every day they would clean up to make it as safe for our kids and as livable as possible for us throughout the entire process. We were very happy from beginning to end. There were no surprises and his budget was 100% dead on. Above all with everything I have already mentioned, the quality of his work was remarkable. Billy exceeded our expectations, as such we would be happy to have him come back once we are ready to move forward with any other work we want to do throughout the house.

Bill Neary was very easy to work with and the work was first class. I'm very happy with the quality of the materials he used, and was impressed by the fact that he personally selected the boards, as opposed to having them drop-shipped. The workmanship is top quality, and the deck looks great.
