We received approximately 5 quotes from various contractors. Liam wasn't the lowest but he also wasn't the highest. We ultimately went with him because of his responsiveness, professionalism and willingness in working through any questions we had on the process. There was no large up front deposit required and he was the one that physically did the work through the entire process. In the end we were so happy with our decision to go with him and the end product. It works fast and efficient while paying attention to all the small details of the work... every time we hit an odd issue that required a special solution Liam had an answer for it. It's so difficult finding a trustworthy contractor and Liam exceeded our expectation in the category as well as the end product. He's our go to person now for any future project we have without hesitation.

We asked for his advice on which projects we should tackle to ensure our house was ready for sale. He gave us straight, no nonsense advice on which projects he thought would bring the biggest bang for our budget. It is surprisingly difficult to find reliable contractors with good communication skills that do quality work, especially for these smaller projects. So I was pleased with how smoothly this project went from start to finish. A formal written quote was provided via email which I accepted and he scheduled the work for the following week. They completed it in less time than I thought it would take and did a great job. I will definitely use them again for future projects.

Liam was timely in responding to our request for a quote, and open and responsive to questions. Liam is a craftsman who takes pride in his work, offers creative solutions to unique challenges, and was a pleasure to have at our home throughout the project. Everything went well, Mr Neary was very informative of the days and times he would be there , he contacted me for any questions and was very considerate of our timeline. The work Liam and his crew did was excellent, he was at our home when he said he would be and they cleaned up every night before they left. I am very satisfied with the work Neary Construction did and will hire them for my future home improvement projects.

We hired Liam to renovate our kitchen and first floor and the final result exceeded our expectations. Having recently purchased a ‘fixer-upper’, there was a need to completely gut out the kitchen and ground floor. After giving us an estimate for the scope of work, he even accompanied my wife and I to a kitchen showroom and home improvement store to offer tips on cabinets. This was before we officially hired him and we felt no pressure or inclination to do so. Rather, he was genuinely interested in educating us on buying the best cabinets within our budget. Once we hired Liam, we found him to be punctual and efficient, always arriving early at our house with a plan for the day ahead. I am not familiar with home construction but I do know quality and his workmanship was superb. Being an old house, there are many areas that are not plumb but Liam identified and fixed them without taking any shortcuts. Throughout the process, he was also willing to share his knowledge, something not every contractor is keen to do. Often times, I was onsite to oversee the project and he explained patiently what and how he was constructing a task, such as leveling the floor. As a self-proclaimed DIY’er, I absorbed these nuggets of tips with enthusiasm. Along with Liam, his subcontractors were also qualified in their fields. From the wall plasterer to the tile specialist, they all produced top-notch results. Quality people attract other quality people. By the end of each day, Liam and his crew cleaned up thoroughly and any debris was disposed of properly. All in all, I was extremely pleased with Liam’s work and high standards. His attention to the smallest detail and vast skill-set are what separates him, in my opinion, from many contractors. He is a true professional but more importantly, he is fair and honest.

Liam is great for any construction project large or small. He is extremely reliable, always on time and very receptive. His work is impeccable and he handles the job site with great care. I would highly recommend him for all construction and finish work projects. You will be very happy with the finished product.

Liam Neary is very easy to work with. He responds quickly to requests, is easy to get in touch with, and is very reliable when it comes to scheduling visits. He also happens to be a very nice person, which makes it good to work with him. When he came over to give an estimate, he told me that we needed to replace all of the fascia around the house, including that around the new addition we had put in about 5 years ago. When I questioned that, he said that it was needed. His first estimate was over 8,000 and I asked him to reduce it because it was too much for us. He took just over 10% off which was better for our budget, although it was still extremely expensive. Still, I found that a very nice gesture. The company came on a Friday to do the work and returned on Monday to finish it. Here are some of the good things. They were quick in the work. They were pleasant and they seemed to know what they were doing. When the work was done, Liam sat and chatted and was very nice. He also followed up after the first rain to make sure things went well. Here are some of my concerns. When he took off the fascia of the new addition, it was clear that there was no damage to it and didn't need replacing. He acknowledged that but said that the new wood he was putting in place of this would last even longer. I wasn't happy that I was spending an additional thousand plus dollars for work that wasn't needed. Another concern was that over the weekend, there was a lot of lumber on the lawn in the front and back that was not great for our recently reseeded lawns that we were trying to grow grass on. That lumber was cleaned up for the most part and the lawn does not seem too much worse for wear. There was only minor debris left over on the lawn. Finally, the sawing was all done right next to my vegetable garden and a lot of the sawdust got all over the leaves and vegetables. Hopefully there will not be too many ill effects. Fortunately, the debris that was initially all over the driveway was cleaned up well after I asked and there were no remnant nails or wood on that part. Generally, I think that they did good work, it looks nice, they were easy to work with, and very quick in the job. I am not sure why two days of work with 2 guys on one day and 3 on another (about 12-14 hours of work total) cost over $7000, as the lumber could not been more than a few thousand, but I think that living in Newton leads to higher prices for work. I would recommend Liam to do work for those who have the budget to pay for reliability and efficiency.

I had the good fortune to encounter Neary Construction last year, when I needed a lot of work done to remedy the damage that the awful winter of 2014-2015 did to my house. Short form: I am very picky about my contractors, and Neary went above and beyond on almost every level. Billy went over the damaged areas carefully, pointed out several things I had not thought were problems (but obviously were, in hindsight), and took the time necessary to explain the work that needed to be done. Then he sent me an itemized list of fixes that needed to be made. I chose the ones that were most needed, and Billy didn’t argue with me to do the whole job. The friendly and helpful interactions on the front side were an awesome start. Then he came when he said he would, did the work in a very competent way, and cleaned up after himself when he was done. I have to say that his competent and professional manner, his obvious depth of knowledge, and his overall business practices are far and away the best experience I’ve ever had in a contractor. This spring, I called him in again to do some work on my front porch, and in my kitchen. Same service, same professionalism, no hard sell, and first-class work. Scheduling is a little rough-and-ready (and more last-minute than I’d like), but that's a very small issue when set against the overall backdrop of good and competent work. I’d recommend these guys without reservations. They've got my business for the foreseeable future

What can I say? Liam and his crew not only performed outstanding work but are truly lovely people. Liam Neary (of Neary Construction) came to the site personally to give us an estimate, and began work about a week later. After the first day on the job, we gave Liam the key to our business; it was immediately apparent he was not only professional but also 100% trustworthy, and we felt comfortable with both him and his crew coming and going whenever they needed, regardless if we were present or not. The work Liam did was fantastic, and anytime we felt something needed to be revised, he was always receptive to our ideas and more than willing to accommodate them. In addition, his subcontractors were equally nice and professional; always respectful, polite and worked at lightning speed. I'm fairly certain the job would have taken another contractor twice the time. One of the challenges of doing work at a business that is open to the public is keeping things clean; Liam always made sure the space was free of dust and debris. Perhaps most importantly, though, Liam and his crew are among the loveliest people I've met. It was a joy to be in their company, and I thought of them as family in some ways. It's a rare but wonderful experience to miss your contractor when he's gone! Lastly, I should mention that Liam went above and beyond the scope of his original contract, helping with aspects of the project he had no obligation to get involved in, and even accommodated a last minute paint job. Having done restaurant build outs in the past, I can say that our experience with Neary Construction has, unequivocally, been the best. Highly, highly recommended.

I easily installed two rubber washers behind the plate on the front door and now the door closes securely. The rear door is ok. I will replace the lock if needed and if I have a problem later this winter with the rear door not closing I can easily add two washers behind the plate so it will close securely, too. Bill solved my problem quickly and it cost me nothing. I will certainly call him if I have any issues in the future.

Billy is a great guy, punctual and a hard worker. He shows up when he says he will and works diligently until the job is complete. When he found additional wood rotting he found away to talk me through it and figure out how to still hit the budget. When a window came with a small chip on it, he did not try to install it, but showed me the problem and said he would be ordering a new window. High character guy. When we had a last minute issue with the installation of our new counter top in our kitchen, I called Billy who was came out to the house the next day to properly prepare the counter top for installation. We have used Billy for a few items and plan on using him again. He gives detailed quotes and on our last project was even able to come in under budget. I would recommend Neary Construction.

Neary is one of the good ones. Billy gave me detailed quotes for all the work, and worked with me to get the most important stuff finished before winter hit. He's one of those rare true craftsmen -- not "that guy" who gives you a quote and then sends a random crew of day laborers to do a slapdash job. He was on the job himself most days, doing the work and giving direction to the people who work with him. He knows enough to recognize when other jobs weren't done correctly, takes the time to explain the problem, then goes & fixes it right. There were some delays, but you mostly have to expect that when working with contractors. The important part is that I felt that I got excellent value for the money I paid (not cheap!), and my house is in much better condition than it was at the beginning of the year. A+ would hire again (in fact, I'm already working on a list for him to quote in the spring).

Bill is prompt, shows up when he says he will and can be flexible to your schedule. He does great and exacting work. It seems like Bill can literally do anything and is very knowledgable. The first thing we had Bill do is create custom cabinets in both our hallway and our living room. He's quote came in literally 1/2 of any other quote, and he did the work in the time he promised. We were so impressed that we had him fix a bunch of other things around the house that I had done originally. Basically, he fixed a bunch of my mistakes. I also had him frame one of our bathrooms and also install a stove vent. I also liked that he does not take short cuts. For example, even though I know he can do basic electical and plumbing, he requires subs for that, no matter the size of the project. All in all, I am very pleased with the work Bill does. And the best recommendations is that I will continue to use Bill in the future. He's a machine. A good, honest and reliable contractor is hard to find, and I found one in Bill.

Bill did a wonderful job, as he always does. The deck looks wonderful and he completed it very fast, especially considering his schedule. Also, when we changed our mind about how we wanted the gates to open, he came out right away and changed it for us. He was always extremely professional and committed to making sure the project came out the way we wanted it. We have used Bill for a number of projects now, and will not hesitate to do so again in the future.

Billy and his team talked through the problems with me, worked with me on a plan and delivered. He and his team were professional, clean and always on-time.
