Mr. Neary was very responsive. After I bought the voucher on Angie's List, HE called me to schedule an appointment, which was great. He came by our home and spoke with my husband about what we needed done. Then he emailed me a detailed estimate. Then he came the following week to do the work, Monday at 7AM. He and one other worker did everything we asked him to do (replaced a window sill, replaced trim on window and replaced some rotted wood close to roof line) in approx 4 hours. He was very professional, cleaning up after himself and showing up right on time. Everything looked excellent when they were done. I even asked him to come back and do another window sill, that I failed to notice the first time around, and he said he would come back this week. His rates are high, but the work was excellent, so my husband and I were pleased with the overall experience. And we would highly recommend Bill Neary to anyone needing work done on their home.

My new condo had a large cubby hole that used to house a mini closet and electronic components. The previous owner must have ripped out some wiring in the space, leaving behind an ugly mess. The cubby hole was about 20" x 60", with the bottom about a foot from the baseboard. I left a message for Bill and he called me back right away. I explained to him that I already had painters scheduled to come in shortly to paint the entire place and needed the shelves completed as soon as possible. He showed up precisely when he said he would, and provided a fair estimate. I should mention that other contractors I contacted didn't think it was worth their time to come out and review for an estimate, and they would only provide an estimate based on pictures and measurements I provided. I felt much better that Bill actually came out to see the place before taking the job. He suggested that we extend the shelves to the top of the baseboard, and was the only one to suggest this. I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I felt I could trust his expertise. His estimate was very reasonable. He came back later in the week, early in the morning to complete the job, right when he said he would. The shelves look fantastic! I now realize that it would have looked strange if we hadn't extended it to the baseboard. i will definitely hire him again.
Description of Work: I hired Bill's firm to build display shelves in my new condo.

work unsupervised. My trust was not to be questioned, as when I returned to Boston a few weeks later, I was totally blow away with the wonderful quality of the work he did. He added doors, painted walls, repaired repaired tubs, cleaned up chalk from floors, painted ceillings, replaced fans, small carpentry jobs and replaced ceiling tiles... If you have any carpentry needs...large or small.. you would be doing yourself a favor to hire Bill.. at least, get a quote from him.. I mean it when I say he is the best and I was go grateful to randomly choose him from the initial Angies'List. He was totally competent, on time for all appointments, priced fairly and a really decent person to work with... (That fact that he had the most adorable Irish accent, did not influence me at all) for all your home projects, this is the person you can trust to get the job done at a reasonable price and within a timely work schedule..
Description of Work: I could not have been more pleased with the quality of service I received from Bill at Neary Construction. I live in Ca. and have a condo in Boston that we were preparing to sell. Bill was aware of my time constrains and of the number of small projects needed to be done in the condo. He showed up immediately for the "walk through", calling the night before to verify date and arrival time. He was totally honest with me about what he thought needed to be done and what did not appear to be necessary.. He could have very easily gone with everything I suggested.. He would have done that if he was only interested in making the most amount he could get out of this project. However, he did not do that.. He honestly told me what he thought and suggested ways I could save money. Once we had the walk through, he immediately e-mailed me with his proposal and i was shocked as to how reasonable his prices were.. I told him of my time constriants , as I wanted to list the condo with an agent as soon as possible. Bill came by with a crew within a few days and completed all the work in one day. I was back in California at the time and had total confidence in him letting hinm in the condo and do the

We were very happy with Neary Construction. Mr. Neary came and gave me an estimate early during the week and came back that same week on his one day off to try and help us with our leaky window. Mr. Neary was extremely responsive and honest about the work being done; he addressed all my concerns in a knowledgeable, straight forward manner. We will again use Neary Constructions for future work without any hesitation.

We had a great experience with Neary Construction. We had an interior door (down to our basement) that had broken off the hinge, and guests with a small child coming soon. We wanted all the doors on that level to match, as they are all in close proximity. We were on a pretty tight schedule, given our impending houseguests, but had hectic work schedules at the time as well. Mr. Neary responded very quickly, and worked very hard to get things done as quickly as we wanted them done. He helped us pick out new doors, got the doors in and took away all the old doors and frames, etc. He also completed a couple of other carpentry jobs. All his work was very high quality, and he took great care to see to our wishes and needs, as well as keeping a clean work area. We would definitely use Neary Construction again.
Description of Work: Replaced 4 interior doors and performed some smaller carpentry tasks. Ordered the doors for us, after helping us select some, picked them up, and removed old doors.

Excellent. Please see above.
Description of Work: Bill Neary went and bought materials needed and spent an amazing amount of time getting the required materials. He showed real concern about getting my problem solved. He detected a plumbing leak for me that had been ongoing for months. Had he not pointed it out, we might have had real damage. A work that had been done previously was causing real problems for replacing bulbs in the sockets. Bill consulted his electrician and then was able to solve the problem permanently. He came to my house multiple times to get the job done just right. To top it, he did not charge me the last time he came to wrap up the unfinished work. Bill truly cares about the job and seems to love what he does.

Selected offer from Angie's List; emailed Bill and he wrote back promptly. A few days later he came out and took a look at things; he emailed a quote. We went back and forth over a date -- I think he was very responsive over email and by phone, moreso than many contractors we've worked with. Long story short: He came out and did all the work as promised, and everything looks great. Price = Estimate, and we thought the price was good. We would definitely work with him again.

Bill purchased and installed a new window in upstairs bedroom, removing and disposing of old window, hung a pre-purchased storm door, disposing of old door and installed 2 bedroom doorknobs. This work was urgently needed as we were having an open house that weekend. Bill came right away (accommodating me at 7:30 am in the morning so I would not be late for work) and performed the fixes by lunchtime that same day. Just in conversation, I showed Bill the bulkhead door we were replacing and expressed my fustration that the contractor we hired was taking 2 weeks to complete the job which was cutting it very close with the open house scheduled for upcoming weekend. Bill told me if need be, he could come back the next day with a Bilco bulkhead and install it for me same day! I wish I had taken Bill up on the offer, because the contractor we had previously hired did such a poor installation, it failed the home inspection! I would hire Bill again for future carpentry needs.

I signed up for a Special Deal offer for 2 hours of carpentry knowing that the extent of carpentry needed to fix the problems would require extra time and expense. I emailed photos of the areas that needed to be repaired so he would know what to bring. Each time he came, he came early. His truck is well-equipped with tools and supplies and he cleans the work areas before leaving. Sheets of PVC have been used to make other outside repairs on the house and I am pleased that he used it too. During the first visit he removed a rotting wood face board on one side of the garage door frame and replaced it with a board cut from a sheet of PVC, replaced the end boards of gutters, made other small repairs, and at my request, inspected areas inside and outside the house for possible problems- there were none. He measured the fence that needed to be replaced. (Special Deal for 2 hours carpentry $69. plus $20. for the PVC) The second time he removed the rotting fence and replaced it with pressure treated wood- 3 posts, two sections of fence and the gate with the hardware which he had built off-site. ($785 labor and supplies) The third visit was necessary because another board on the side of the garage door frame that he had previously repaired, had appeared and needed to be replaced because it was rotting. As long as he was coming to repair that, I had him replace the frame on the other side of the garage door. ($128. labor and supplies) He was unable to take away the old fence and gate in his truck, and didn't sand and fill the screw holes or caulk the garage door frame. The PVC boards need to be painted. He gave me the name of someone to hire who will dispose of the fence. It is such a relief to have all that work done and to have had other areas which might have needed repairs inspected. Thank you Angie's List and William Neary! I consider the cost of labor and supplies very fair. He is very personable, accomplished all that work in a reasonable amount of time, responsive to my concerns, works efficiently and was willing to keep the costs within my budget.
Description of Work: replaced 2 sections of wood fence and the gate and the hardware, which he built off-site to fit the area.replaced wood panels at the end of some gutters replaced wood framing along both sides of a double garage door with PVC and weather stripping inspected and repaired flashing above outside kitchen doorreplaced broken brackets on dishwasher to prevent it from tipping forward when door was opened. inspected wood in other areas on outside and inside of house

I couldn't be happier with the results. From start to finish the service was outstanding. Neary Construction was the quickest to respond to my request for an estimate. Along the way there were a few unforseen difficulties but they stuck to the price on the initial estimate. My home is over 100 years old so nothing is standard in size. Neary Construction was able to install new door frames and seamlessly fit in new doors. Our old stairs were very steep and had unusually small treads. The replacement stairs are a huge improvment. Neary Construciton replaced the stringers and reconfigured the angle of the staircase so that they meet modern standards. With both the doors and the stairs the finish carpentry was exceptional. We had planned on putting a runner over the stairs but they came out so good we've decided against it! Lastly, after replacing one gutter they tightened up the others free of charge. Overall Neary Construction did a great job. I would highly reccomend them.

Neary Construction was great! Bill responded to our request for a quote for the work within a day and came out immediately to see what had to be done. He worked up a price for the job , let us know what it was and once we gave him the ok to start the job he gave us an estimate of his start date. The day of the job, Bill showed up right on time and did a great job installing all of the doors and doing repair work on the deck. Bill was very neat in his clean up. We were very happy with his work and would definitely use him again.

Bill came to the house to view the job and give an estimate almost immediately after my purchase of the coupon. After some negotiating of the price, we finally agreed I would provide the materials. I wasn't sure I wanted to do this, but in the end it was really the best arrangement. While doing the work, he provided a few Items I had forgotten and I felt his flexibility in shaping the scope of the job was a plus. The shelves look wonderful. Bill was a pleasant presence in the house, and he was prompt, efficient, neat and helpful. When the job was finished, I mentioned a sticky door which he fixed for no consideration. All in all a very good experience.

Mr. Neary handled all these tasks incredibly efficiently, and repaired ALL these items within two hours' time! Each item was done professionally and neatly, and I'm thrilled with the repair of all the items. The only item that extended past the two hours was replacing the front porch wood slats, which turned out to be a bigger job since the slats in place were more damaged than first visible, so Mr. Neary graciously agreed to work another1 1/2 hours to replace as many slats as I had replacements. He was reluctant to accept payment for the extra time, but I insisted on paying him since he had worked that time. As amazing as it sounds, he wouldn't accept payment for the last 1/2 hour, but I insisted that when he came back to do some further work on the front porch, we would add that time on. His hourly rate is incredibly reasonable and I was more than happy to continue to use his services as my home really needed the additional repairs. I absolutely plan on retaining his services again to complete my front porch repairs, as well as the other odds and ends that inevitably come up in my home that need repair. What I was most amazed at was how quickly he went through and repaired all the items, and how neatly and professionally each item was repaired. Having had other carpentry work done by other individuals over the years, I did not expect that he would have been able to get through as much work as he did, but he is so knowledgeable and competent at what he does, he just methodically plowed through all the work, amazing me in the process. I passed his business card on to my extended family, because I wanted to share my good luck at finding Mr. Neary's company!
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal of two hours of carpentry services from Neary Construction, and I have absolutely nothing but praise about the entire process, from booking the job to job completion. Bill Neary of Neary Construction promptly followed up on my purchase to schedule a time to work the two hours on my varied small carpentry projects. My projects ranged from fixing a misplaced cabinet door, blocking holes inside a top cabinet using sheet metal so mice were barred access to my home, installing a door sweep on a front door, securing a queen bed that was pulling apart at the wood seams, fixing a french door, re-securing a towel rack that had pulled out and made a hole in the wall, and replacing wood slats on our front porch.

Originally purchased a 2 hour coupon for handyman services, with the screen porch being my primary concern. Bill responded with 24 hours of my purchase, came out to the house and looked at the porch. He offered to either patch it as needed. which would require large portions of screen being replaced, probably not the most economical way to solve the issue due to the number of tears and the overall poor condition of the framing from years of new england winters. Bill later e-mailed me an estimate of $1870 for the entire porch, including installation of all new screen, framing and removal of old screen work and old framing. After deducting the coupon and another $100 for a piece of framing that was reused, the final cost was $1700. Bill was very pleasant and easy to work with. He takes pride in his work and communicates regularly with the customer. The work was completed in one (long, hot) day. Bill and an associate worked together to finish the work as requested and all porch items were back in their place when we returned home. The porch and yard were completely cleaned and except for then new screen/framing you could not tell anyone had been there. My wife and I are very happy with the work Bill completed and we will be hiring him again for future work on the house.
Description of Work: 3 season 11x11 porch required all existing screens be removed due to years of wear and tear. Multiple holes and tears from weather related issues over the past 15 years. 1) Strip and remove from premises all old screening and wood framing that kept the screen in place. 2) Order, install all new screening including new wood framing to hold the new screen in place.

Mr. Neary was prompt, professional, and quick. The job was relatively straightforward and there were no glitches or complicated problems. It was a great experience. The stairs are so much safer than our old stairs. I don't worry when my kids start to go down the stars as I once did. He widened the stairs and by doing so made it a much more functional. The stairs are very well built and I was very happy with his solution to stabilize the existing railings.

I took advantage of the "Big Deal" ($69 for two hours) and am so glad I did. I had three "must have" items on my list after our contractor bailed on us (install the shower door, a corner needed a 3/4" round piece, and fixing a kitchen drawer). William Neary completed all three and also installed our new medicine cabinet! He starts early, between 7:30-8 AM, and works very pleasantly and quietly for someone with a drill. By 9:15 everything was done and very competently, which is the first time I've had the experience of good work happening quickly. I will definitely be working with him again in the future.

I took advantage of Angie's Deal for Neary Construction and was not disappointed. William Neary returned my call promptly and worked on finding a convenient time for us both. He showed up on time, asked what was needed to be done, assessed the work and was honest about what to expect with the train towel rack which needed to be installed against a stone wall in the bathroom. He stated he would try to attempt this if he thought he could do so without exposing holes on the stones. We discussed where I wanted the knobs attached, the hooks and towel rack installed. Then he went to work. He did a great job. The installation was precise and balanced. The work was clean. He cleaned up after himself. He was professional and efficient with a sense of humor!

Great job - great price! Bill did a fantastic job cleaning out all the house gutters and my house is rather large, so he had to climb up to 2-3 roof areas with the highest being third story. While on one roof, he even washed the kitchen window for me, because I couldn't access it from inside the house. Otherwise, I would have had to climb over the deck railing onto the roof to do it myself. He made recommendations for a particularly challenging area where a downspout needs to be reworked, He also recommended a roofer who will be providing me with an estimate this week. I never felt like he was in a hurry, even though he did have another job to go to. He took the time to walk around the house with me and answer my questions. Bill is professional, thorough and has a great personality. I recommend hiring him.
Description of Work: Gutters cleaned and downspouts inspected.
