Went perfectly and everything is great, I am very pleased with this work.
Description of Work: I spoke with Mr. Hennelly on the phone on the weekend and he said he would be able to come over on Sunday to do an estimate. He called when he was in the area. He arrived on time as agreed and he had his son with him to assist. We agreed on a price on a minor repair on my downspout and they got to work. He finished the job quickly, removed the spoil from the old fixture. The new elbow works great and is a perfect fit. I am so pleased at the way this was all handled and would highly recommend Mr.Hennelly for any future gutter ot roofing work.

We had some gutters that needed repair and were not easily accessible to us. We called Joe Hennelly and he was available to meet us on the following Saturday morning which was the most convenient time for us. When he and his assistant arrived he determined that the best way to reach the gutters was to put a ladder in our neighbors driveway. We have a very prickly neighbor and so I went to ask her permission. By the time I got back he had found another way to access the gutters. We then asked him if he could clean the gutters as well as fix them. Throughout his visit, Joe was extremely efficient, pleasant and willing to answer any questions that we had. He cleaned up everything before he left. Several days later we had some heavy rain and Joe called to see if everything was holding up. We will definitely be calling him back to clean our gutters next year and to eventually replace them. You won't find anyone who is more responsive or accommodating than Joe.
Description of Work: Gutters were repaired and cleaned.

Joe and his associate, Bill, were prompt in showing up as well as being extremely personable with great senses of humor. I was told by another roofer that there was a pitch problem with two of my gutters. Joe did agree with this assessment and promptly made the repairs but also sealed a problematic area at the corner of two gutters. He cleaned the outside of the gutters which the company who had initially cleaned the gutters had left dirty. The price was extremely reasonable and we will definitely use Joe for gutter cleaning and other issues in the future.

The job went great. Joe and his assistant arrived on time, explained what needed to be done, and gave me a quote. He was friendly and helpful, and explained what he was doing as he worked. He was very careful working around my plants. It hasn't rained yet, but I'm confident that my blocked spouts are now operational again.

Joe Hennelley did an outstanding job,. The main problem was to repair the leaking built-in historic architectural copper gutters, one linear and one radial at the bay. The leaking gutters had gradually over time eroded some of the brownstone sills and historic terra cotta trim on the facade. Other gutter contractors recommended replacing the copper gutters at a cost of $23K. The cost was high because the gutters require traditional copper craftsmanship, including soldering and scaffolding (upper gutters are 40 ft high). Joe was able to properly repair the gutters without replacing them. He used compatible patchwork, added bracing support and installed an additional horizontal downspout to increase drainage flow. The latter solution resolved prior water overflow problems during torrential downpours. In addition, he replaced rotten wood trim and flashing at a wood dormer above the upper gutter. He also discovered "soft" spots in the flat membrane roof which indicated water leaks, and was able to find the source of the leaks (at open seams and deteriorated flashing at the skylight curb), and patch and repair them accordingly. As an architect, I understood the problems that Joe pointed out and agreed that his solutions were the most efficient and cost effective approach to resolving the problems and stopping water leakage for the long term.
Description of Work: Work done to my brownstone apartment building included: 1) Repair and unclog leaking built-in copper architectural gutter; 2) Repair, replace and re-flash rotten wood trim at window dormer located above the main gutter; 3) Patch small open seams at the membrane flat roof; and 4) Temporarily seal deterioration at the skylight.curb flashing.

My 65- year- old house, a cape with aluminum siding, was covered in ugly black/green mold. The garage was almost as dirty as the house. Neither had ever been power-washed before. Joe Hennelly had done some roof and gutter repairs for us in the fall and we were extremely pleased with his work and price. So when we needed our filthy house washed we called him. He and his son washed everything thoroughly and even cleaned my patio and lawn furniture. We are glad to have a clean house again. Hope we don't need another cleaning for another 65 years. But if we do we will definitely call Joe again. My husband and I were concerned about power-washing because our house has aluminum siding, not vinyl. Joe washed our concerns away.
Description of Work: Joe power-washed my entire house (including three dormers) and garage. I am putting my review under the gutter-cleaning category because, for some reason, he doesn't have a power-wash category.

Excellent. Joe is a very good guy and he knows his stuff.
Description of Work: Joe Hennelly called to say when he would be there and showed up on time. Not many workmen do that. He not only cleaned all the gutters and made sure the downspouts were free, but he fixed a longstanding problem with a piece of missing flashing on the corner of the house. I would hire him to install or repair gutters, and based on meeting him I would also hire him to do roofing work. He is an honest and good guy. A+ in my book.

When I first reached Joe, he was on a ladder at another job! Needless to say, he is prompt in answering phone calls. He said he'd return my call once he was on terra firma. Shortly after, he called back and an appointment was scheduled. On job day, he and his assistant arrived promptly. He is proud of his work, very professional, honest, and sets a fair price. When he was high up, he spotted some damage to the house caused by squirrels at the soffit under the eaves. I am having him back to address this new problem because he also has carpentry skills.
Description of Work: Joe cleaned the aluminium gutters of my house, addressing the problem areas very carefully. Spruce needles/debris had completely clogged a downspout. He dismantled it entirely, cleaned it out, and reassembled it using new and proper screws; the previous screws were wrong and contributed to catching debris and buildup to clogging problems. The other downspouts were also closely examined and cleaned. A section with wooden gutters was carefully oiled.

I called Joe to clean out gutters in one of the buildings that we manage. Joe was very responsive and came out within a week. He did a good job on the clean-out and suggested additional repairs we should make if we want to improve drainage. Overall I was very happy and will certainly call him again.

Overall, I have a great experience. I will definitely call him again.
Description of Work: I left Joe a voice mail message. He returned my call within 15 minutes. He told me that he was busy at the time. But he would call me in the afternoon to let me know if he was going to be able to stop by. Joe is a very professional. He called again early afternoon to ask me if I still wanted him to stop by. He checked the house gutters and rinsed them with water. Since the house gutters were cleaned, he only charged me half of the price that he usually charges for cleaning the gutters($60 instead of $120).

This is an update to the previous report. I made the appointment to come back to do further work. Besides adjusting the gutter on the side of the house for proper flow, I had asked him to figure out how to attach gutters and downspouts to the new front porch. The old porch had wooden posts and the downspouts could be fastened to the front of the posts, The new posts are acryllic and cannot be nailed into for support of the downspouts. He designed the gutters at an angle so the rain will flow from one side across the front to the other and then tied it into the downspout at the corner of the house. Everything was completed and cleaned up in a reasonable time. I will certainly call him again if I need further work in the future.
Description of Work: Reposition the gutter on the side of the house for better flow. Add gutter and drain to new porch installed on the front of the house.

When I called in the afternoon, they said they were just finishing a job and headed home. Since they lived in the area, they said they would stop by and look at them. Since it was still early and it was a quick job, they took them apart and cleaned them right away. I discussed some other problems with the gutters and will be making an appointment for them to come back in a couple of weeks to add gutters on the front porch and adjust the angle of the others so the rain will flow correctly. I was very impressed and pleased with their quick service.

We are able to schedule and complete the work shortly after the original estimate. I was not home when they came, but got an update mid-day on how it was going. No expected surprises and the work was done by the time I got home. Joe told me to check one particular spot during the next hard rain and call him if anything came up. I feel satisfied and ready to move on to the painting project. 4/26 UPDATE: During the scraping, the painters discovered 2 areas of rotted wood in our gutters that Hennelley missed. When I called to have them return to take a look, Joe told me they were tied up with a big job and would not be able to come for 1.5 weeks. I was disappointed because my options were to put the painting on hold while I found someone new to fix the rot or go with the painters' carpenter and price. Fortunately the team from the painting company (Socelvic) is very capable and the work is almost completed. I realize now that paint can hide issues. While they knew we were repainting, I wish I had specifically told them to chip whatever paint they needed for their review.
Description of Work: In preparation for painting our house, we knew we needed to do some work on our wooden gutters. The other contractors I met with wanted to completely replace the wooden gutter with aluminum. Hennelley & Son Roofing & Gutters offered us a more customized solution. During their review/estimate process, they got up on ladders (which the others did not) and determined that only some of our gutters needed to be replaced while the rest were long overdue for cleaning. Their estimate to do the work was very reasonable and it allowed us to keep the original look of our house.

Response from Hennelly & Son Roofing & Gutters
Dear members, the member called me Last week while we were on a job about 15 miles from her house and told me that the painter had found some rot on a couple of spots on her gutter. She wanted to know if I could go over and access what they found and let me know what I thought because the quote given to her by the painter to fix the problem seemed to be excessive. She was also dismayed that we didnt find this rot when we were at her house. We quoted her a price to fix 20ft of obvious rotted gutter and to clean the remainder of her gutters ,because she was selling her house and wanted to make the place as presentable as possible. The rot she is was told was there was covered up by at least two, maybe more coats of paint so it wasnt visible from below or when we cleaned, but came about after scraping and sanding.I said I would be happy to come by her house, but my time frame didnt work for her, because I was on another job, with another customers gutters pulled apart, I couldnt just get right over to her house, right away. And the painters were there waiting for her to call back with an answer for them .I told her I was sorry for her situation but thing like this happen when get work done to your house.I apologized and said if I could get there within the next few days i would, but the job(painting)was well under way and she didnt want to stop them or wait. The cost given to her,and the unsatisfactory time line on my end was ,in my guess the reason for her update.Thank you Joe Hennelly (857) 417-6053

After using Joe previously to fix a second floor leaky porch we brought him and his team back to add and replace gutters on one side of our house. Joe and the team came out, gave us an estimate and completed all the work in the time and for the budget quoted. He went out of his way to walk me and my husband around the house to explain what he patched and discussed other maintenance tasks that we should be aware of as new homeowners. The experience was great and we'll definitely use Hennelley & Son again.

Overall Joe and crew did a very good job. They quoted us work and started the process by saying that there might be some additional work necessary if they found damaged structure (which ended up being the case) so we were properly prepared. The crew put in a ton of hours to get it done right and the porch looked great when they were complete. I have to mention that there was one little valley in a roof above the porch that Joe said he'd patch that was missed during the job but I called him to fix it and he came right back and made the fix. Now our porch is nice and dry and looks great. We'd definitely use Joe again!

Joe immediately picked up the phone when I called. I explained the situation with the gutters and we set up an appointment for him to stop by. He was on time, looked over the job and gave me a quote right there. Price seemed reasonable, since he had to pick up extra supplies and I knew the job would take the entire morning. He could have done an easy job on one downspout and I wouldn't have known the difference, but he added several segments that made it run clean against the house and look way better than I'd have expected. When he left, everything was clean and I've got new, clean gutters.
Description of Work: Gutters, which actually ran directly into the sewer system underneath the house, were cut out, detached and adjusted to flow away from the house. Entry points into the house were cemented up.

Installation went great from start to finish, no problems. My old rolled-felt-and-tar flat roof of my 3-decker had started to leak, with water from puddles over the front porches leaking through the top of the porch. Rather than go through endless patch jobs, I decided to get a new rubber roof with a 10-year warranty. I got 3 quotes, using Angie's List. A guy Joe works with lives in my neighborhood, so I included Joe as one of the 3 quotes. He returned my call promptly and set up a time to come over and look at my roof. He gave me a clear and easy-to-understand written proposal at a fair price that was competitive with the other 2 quotes. He patiently answered my questions: Did we need to tear off the old roof? No, because the old roof was one layer, underneath that was tar paper, and underneath that the roof deck, so no, the old roof did not need to come off and the new roof could be installed onto the existing roof). Should I have insulation? Yes, a standard 1/2-inch-thick insulation would diminish the entry of both summer heat and winter cold into my house, and it could be installed directly onto the existing roof, with the new roof installed directly onto the new insulation. What was chimney counter-flashing, was it important, and would he do it? Counter-flashing means that the new flashing (the water-tight continuing of the roof membrane partly up the vertical surface of any element like a chimney, pipe, or vent that penetrates the roof) would go up and underneath the copper chimney wrap, which would wrap around the new flashing like an apron and be riveted with copper rivets into the new flashing, that's counter-flashing, and yes, it's the correct way to flash a brick element like a chimney. Did I need metal stress plates? Yes. These lightweight plates are part of the new roof. What sold me on Joe, in addition to the unanimously positive reviews he's received here on Angie's List, was his assertion that he would get the roof nice and tight, no leaks, and warranty it for 10 years, 100%, period. Joe helpfully negotiated crane access to the common driveway with my Polish neighbor next door who has a history of arguing with work crews who work on my house, so that there was no trouble with getting the crane lifting the roofing material onto my roof to be in the common driveway without trouble from the Polish people. He gave the crane driver a few bucks (around $20, I think) out of his own pocket and refused my offer to reimburse him. He did not have to deal with the Polish wife or tip the driver out of his own money, but he did these things anyway, evidence of his good people skills, and which prevented possible hassles, allowing me to go to work without worry. He watched the weather like a hawk and found a good dry spell and scheduled the installation for then, when the roof had gotten a chance to dry out and when there wouldn't be any rain or snow during the installation so that the roof could go on dry. He brought 1 guy with him on the first 2 days of installation, 2 guys with him on the 3rd and last day. In these 3 days, they installed the insulation, carefully screwing it in with special screws that had an umbrella-like circle that would hold the insulation material, then over that the 0.60 rubber roof material, likewise using special screws, then adding the flashing around all the pipes and the chimney, using the above-described counter-flashing technique to secure the existing copper apron onto the new chimney flashing with new copper rivets, and finally putting in edging around the entire new roof and properly uniting the edging with the new rubber roof. He let go up on the roof several times during installation so that I could see for myself how it was going. (Because the last day of installation was a Saturday and I didn't have to go off to work, I got the guys coffee and bagels from Dunkin Donuts, also around $20, to balance out the tip Joe gave the crane driver.) The new roof is awesome, it looks just like Joe promised, nice and tight and well installed, everything carefully screwed and glued. I've attached a before and some after pictures so you can see for yourself.
Description of Work: Installed new 1600-square-foot insulated flat EPDM rubber roof.
