+ -1 moreI had a roof replaced on m detached garage including all wood. Also had a small flat roof replaced. Both were in bad shape and for the flat roof that I had to redo the joists and outer wood. I have used them twice now and in both cases they were very responsive to phone calls and was able to schedule both jobs very quickly. In both cases they took their time to make sure the underlying surface/wood was replaced and fixed prior to roofing.

+ -1 moreThis is an update to the Skylight review from 10/23/2018. It seems I cant edit my last review so I'm adding a new one. Joe Hennelly contacted me the next day after my last review to apologize. He is a very customer oriented person so I was very excited that he was willing to try again. Joe and one of his colleagues came on site the same day that he reached out to me and conducted an inspection of my old skylight and took measurements. He called a supplier to inquire about the cost of a skylight to fit the current space. He suggested I shop around for a good deal on a skylight and that once we find one he would be available to install it before the cold season sets in. I am very happy Joe reached out as I believe sometimes folks just have a rough patch and need second chance. It speaks volumes to his character that he would apologize and seek another opportunity to correct the issue. That type of character and work ethic is hard to come by. I'm looking forward to working with the Hennelly & Son company to install a new skylight. And if this works out well, I hope to work on many other projects with his team in the future.

+ 4 moreWe have a 110 year old house and it always needs work. Joe Hennelly has been helping us from when he joined Angie’s List. That’s many years ago. He is like the son we never had. Always kind, professional and good at what he does. Incredibly honest. Will never offer to do anything you don’t need. Even though he specializes in roofing and gutters, he fans closed in a hole where squirrels were getting in, cut tree limbs, and so on. Absolutely best price for cleaning gutters and everything else. That’s not a minor consideration when it’s a three family house. He and his workers have a great customer oriented attitude and always leave after having cleaned up. Fabulous company, you will never be disappointed.

From promptly responding to a request for an estimate, clearly explaining the scope of the work, starting the job when promised and finishing all the work and a perfect cleanup in 3 days, I couldn’t be more pleased. Initially I was only hiring them for the gutter work (on a 3 story, hundred year old house). They noticed that one rubber roof section needed a new roof and they also estimated that job. All of it cost a lot, but they are careful and smart and their assistants seem pleasant, friendly and good natured.

+ 0 moreIt was amazing to watch the professional and efficient crew replace the roof and install new gutters in one day. When they finished, the cleanup was immaculate. There haven't been any problems in two years. Recently, when I thought one of the gutters was leaking, Joe responded immediately. The problem was only some leaves blocking the water flow and he cleaned them out in a few minutes. I highly recommend Hennelly and Son for your roofing and gutter needs.

+ -1 moreThis was one of the best experiences that I've had with a contractor. Joe answered the phone when I first called on Wednesday. We set up a time for today, Friday. His crew called when they were 1/2 an hour out and arrived promptly. Extremely nice and courteous men. I had been quoted a possible price of $200 but when they finished, they said that my gutters were not bad and would only charge me $120. Who does that? They also told me that because I don't have a lot of trees on my property, I probably didn't need to have them cleaned on a regular schedule. Again, who does that? When the gutters are ready to be cleaned again, I will absolutely be calling Hennelly & Sons.

I told him absolutely and 20 minutes later a crew was here. The price quoted seemed very reasonable to me and they took care of the gutter cleaning right then.

+ -1 moreThe process went very well Joe and his team were extremely responsive. Originally I'd only wanted the gutters cleaned, but it became clear that they would need to be replaced. Being very responsive, hat same day I was provided an estimate. I live in an older house (late 1800s) and the team was very knowledgeable as to where there should be gutters and where there should not be. They went through it fixed what apparently was some rather poor work that was done in the past, and made sure that I was aware each step of the way. The team showed up early in the morning and finished in the early evening completing the project in one day. Based on this experience I will happily be working with the team again, and am planning to have them come out in the fall to clean the gutters.

+ 0 moreExcellent work! My roof was leaking from an ice dam. I got right through to Joe when I called and Dominic was able to come to my house the next day. I was most impressed by the respectful way in which Dominic explained my options and answered all my questions. They were able to fit the job in the next week. I was unable to be there when they were working so they took pictures of every step during the job and sent them to me. They even replaced a rotting board they found under the shingles at no extra charge. The work has stood up beautifully over time and I had no problems with the roof this winter. Highly recommend!

+ 0 moreJoe Hennelley Best way I can describe Joe Hennelley is to call him a knight in shining armor. We had a major flood on the first floor from second floor so I,called Joe. Even though he did not know whether the flood was the result of a burned pipe or from ice build up on roof, he dropped the job,he,was on and was rushing to get to us. It turned out that we needed a plumber but Joe was coming because we were in a crisis. A wonderful man, a true professional and obviously cares about his customers. He has been doing our gutters for years , and always a great job. If you don’t choose him over other gutter cleaners, it’s your loss.

+ -1 moreHennelly & Son could not have been better. We needed to have our gutters replaced because they were leaking. Domenic was so great! He explained everything that was going to be done. Unfortunately we needed to have our facia boards replaced because they were rotten but they were so great to replace it even after we had originally told them to go ahead and put the gutters up on the rotten facia boards (wanted to save some money... bad idea by us.) They worked really had and were so great about coming back when we needed to have a few downspouts. A+ to them for everything.

+ 1 moreDomenic encouraged me to get more estimates and he said that they wouldn't be the cheapest but would be competitive. Because I had done my research, I decided to proceed immediately. Impressively, the supplies arrived Monday and Tuesday (we had the estimate on a Friday) and on Wednesday there was a full crew of 12 guys on the roof working. The work was extensive! Under the old rubber roof was two layers of asphalt shingles (probably what saved the water coming in), a lot of damaged plywood and even rafters that needed to be sistered for added support. We also decided to have the 4X4 skylight replaced with a newer model which luckily they were able to pickup in Boston same day. And not to forget, the seamless 6 inch gutters with gutter guards and the newer hanger system to distribute the weight evenly. John the owner took videos throughout the day and showed all the work that was being done. With the poor prior job, it was great seeing the prep work, and all the stuff that was skipped in the prior job. He even took our dogs out for a walk and helped calm them (I'm sure all the commotion on the roof had them unsettled). Anytime there was a question, he called me. As I as in Philly on a business trip, this was very helpful! The guys worked into the late evening even using lighting to get the job done the same day. I can't say enough about how professional everyone was and the next day they came out to walk through the work and check to make sure that the site was totally cleaned. Like they said, they may not be the cheapest company, but I would highly recommend for their expertise, honesty and integrity! Great job guys!
Description of Work: Over the last several years, little by little we've lost gutters due to ice overhangs. We finally decided to get the gutters replaced this year. Doing our due diligence, we had three estimates performed. The first two estimates were performed by what I'd call salesmen and while a roofing company was one of the parties, the estimates were limited to guttering. I will say that the guttering only company noted that our rubber roof (half of the house) was not terminated correctly and would need to be fixed before they could do their work. The third estimate was done by Domenic at Hennelly & Son. First I'll say, the big difference was that he did not come across as a salesman but instead, a very knowledgeable installer and roofer. About 15 minutes into the estimate, he came into the house and told me that I should come up on the roof. What he showed me was pretty scary. The rubber roof over our addition and the dormer'd half of the house was installed incorrectly! The seams were backward, the flashing around the skylight was done wrong, the vent pipes were wrong and had holes in the rubbber. In summary, it was a mess and water had been getting under the entire roof. I saw this with my own eyes and everything he showed me was a real problem. We were lucky that the entire second floor and the addition didn't have extensive water damage! While this was a massive hit to the budget (4 times what we were hoping to spend on just gutters) we were grateful that he caught issues that two other estimates and the original home inspection missed. I will have to say that I wasn't totally surprised that the roof was done incorrectly, as when we moved in we had the asphalt half replaced, and the installer said that they didn't even use underlayment and he was surprised that we didn't have water damage!
