He had a very good write-up on Angie's List. He did what he said he would do. He came not right away, but it was the time and the place that he said he would. He did an excellent job. He came with two people, and they really got it done and very effectively. Their price was fair. It was almost the beginning of the fall season, and he couldn't come for three weeks. And I had a lot of stuff, but he came. I didn't think he would, but he came. He was good.

They completed the job in the same day or two days. They were excellent.

Joe was great about scheduling my gutter cleaning around the horrible weather and my own travel schedule. He and his crew did a great job, and I'll be calling them again this fall.

Called on Friday and received a return call on Sunday. I was told that they were working in our neighborhood and were available that day. Because the weather forecast predicted a fall in temperature and possible snow, they recommended that they perform the gutter cleaning on that day which was a Sunday. They stated that they would arrive @ 12 although the actual arrival was @ 2 pm. The gutter cleaning was done throughly and they raked the removed leaves from the ground. This gutter cleaning experience was expedient and painless. I will use this company for future services requiring gutter cleaning.

Joe and his team were the perfect team for our job. I had 3 contractors quote this job and Joe's was the low quote. I often don't go with the low quote, because low bidders often cut corners or find "surprise" extra work when on the job. I went with Joe because I felt he was the only one of the three contractors that quoted the amount of work that actually needed to be done. Other contractors where sure we would need to replace the facia boards and one even said we would have to reflash the entire roofline along the gutter. Joe was the only contractor that got on a ladder and checked out the gutters when he made his quote. He said he could not guarantee that the facia would be sound, but it was his best guess that it would be. He also quoted a per foot price in the event the facia would need replacing. As it turned out, the facia was solid, it just needed a bit of paint touch up which he did. Overall, Joe did a great job at a great price because he only did the work that was necessary and did not overcomplicate the project with unneeded work. You can trust him!

A water spot appeared the day before Christmas on the ceiling in my infant son's bedroom. We put out requests to several highly rated roofers on Angie's list. Joe responded by the next morning & was even available to come for an estimate that afternoon. To our surprise & delight, he identified the problem quickly and repaired it on the spot. He identified what looked like a patch applied some years ago (before we bought our home, 7+ years ago) that had begun to fail an allow water through and he repaired it. Joe & his assistant Kevin were polite & courteous, generally conducted themselves in a professional manner in our communications and while working on our issue.

Joe was great to work with. Super responsive via phone. It was really handy that we didn't have to be home in order for them to do the service. They cleaned our gutters, etc and left the invoice in our mailbox. Easy peasy!

Did the job with real professionalism. Property borders next to heavily wooded area so gutters get loaded with twigs and leaves,. Did a great job of cleaning up. Would definitely hire them again.

I procrastinated and did not make the appointment to have the gutters cleaned until late December. They were very busy completing other jobs before the weather got too cold, but they managed to fit me in. They arrived in the morning but found the leaves encased in ice due to an overnight cold snap. They told me it was not a problem--they would rearrange their schedule for the day and come back in the afternoon, giving the leaves time to thaw. They returned in the early afternoon, a large crew of five people, and did an efficient and thorough job of cleaning the gutters and reattaching one of them in a spot where it had come loose. They gave me a very competitive price quote for replacing another section of gutter that is obviously starting to fail.

Joe is the ultimate in service and quality. He diagnosed and fixed a very tricky basement leak over the summer. And also repaired the gutters. He is friendly and a pleasure to deal with. He is extremely fair and reliable. I recommend him extremely highly.

Update: Though it's late in the season Joe came as promised. He is prompt and knowledgeable. Gave the project his full attention though relatively quick to do and added his concerns and insight about the property and what needs to be done in order to prevent further damage. (Update) Received response from Joe. We scheduled an appointment within a week. Quick turnaround compared to the other service providers.(12/17/14) Called him and was told to leave a message on voicemail and he would get back to me. Three days later he has called back. Ironically his voicemail said that he would absolutely get back.

It went awesome. Joe actually came on Sunday because he knew the weather wasn't going to be very good the day of my appointment. Joe and his coworker worked so quickly, they went above and beyond to fix a leak in our gutter. They even removed an old roof shingle that was wedged behind one of my shutters. Hennelly and Sons is a GREAT company & I would recommend them to anyone.

I had a ceiling leak in my three-decker and it seemed to be coming from the roof. I left messages with several roofers, but received no call backs over a couple of days. I called Hennelly & Sons and Joe Hennelly actually answered the phone. Within 30 minutes after the call they were up on my roof in Somerville inspecting it. They found a two foot long split that developed in the roofing material. They dried it out and made the repair. They were thorough, the work was done right at a good price, and they were very professional to deal with. They told me the roof still had plenty of life left in it. I will certainly call them when its time to do a replacement job based on this positive experience.

It went AWESOME! Joe came to my house on Sunday because he checked the weather report and it wasn't going to be nice the day of my appointment. I was completely taken back by this, talk about customer service. They finished the job so quickly and even went above and beyond to fix a leak in the gutter and remove a shingle that was wedged behind one of my shutters. Joe was wonderful from start to finish. I can't say enough about how helpful he's been in a stressful situation. We came home from a trip on Monday night to a leak from the roof coming through a can light in our dining room ceiling. I called Joe first thing on Tuesday morning and he happened to be working on a another job in our neighborhood so he came by to check out the leak within an hour of my call! I explained to Joe that I was obviously concerned about the leak, but that I'm also hosting a holiday party on Saturday night and didn't want to have a big trash can in the middle of my dining room catching the leaking water during the party! It was still raining when Joe came by on Tuesday morning (and continued to rain straight through Wednesday) so he wasn't able to do any patch work then, but he made it clear we were at the top of his priority list and that he would come back as soon as the rain stopped. We were in touch with Joe later Tuesday night and I said it looked like Thursday morning would be the first time the rain the would stop. Joe told me that he'd definitely be there Thursday morning but that we should also be in touch during the day on Wednesday just in case the rain held off at all. It ended up raining most of Wednesday, but we were in touch throughout the day anyway. He came first thing Thursday morning to do the patches. He charged us $350 for 5 patches and was here for about an hour and a half. He also gave us a quote to replace the roof (which inevitably needs to happen very soon). For a 900 sq foot roof (of a 3 story condo building), he quoted us $8,500 and offered to credit back the $350 he charged today for the patches. We are going to get another quote or two from other roofers to compare the price before we decide who to use, but based on my interaction with Joe over the past few days, I'm very inclined to use him. I would HIGHLY recommend Joe.

This is not an easy job as it involves a shared driveway and tight sideyards in a dense urban neighborhood. Scheduling was a breeze as Joe called us back within a few hours and they agreed to come last day of the gutter cleaning season because a neigbor's tree over my house is a late dropper. It rained the scheduled day and they called that day and came a few days later on a Saturday. This was the second year we used them and they are on our calendar to call every year. A pleasure to deal with.

Joe is awesome. He has been cleaning our gutters for three year and he has been fabulous every time. This last ime we had a magnolia tree branches too close to the house. He cut them down and refused to charge us. If we had to call a tree company it would have cost at least 200 or more. He is just fablous.

Quick response from Joe regarding price & timing. Cleaning performed on time (they called ahead on the scheduled day), worked quick and efficient. Thoroughness & clean-up was better than any other service I've used. Great Job.

After reading the reviews for Hennelly & Son, I was afraid they'd be too booked to accept more work right now. However, Joe responded promptly and was able to squeeze in cleaning my gutters before Thanksgiving and the impending snowstorm. There wasn't time to get an estimate and wait to decide if I should hire them, so Joe and I only spoke on the phone about the size of the job and an approximate cost. I don't usually do that, but the reviews were so positive, I felt he would be fair. I wasn't able to be home when they came to do the job. When I returned from work, there was a nice note explaining what they did and the cost. In addition to cleaning the gutters, they performed a few minor repairs which was a pleasant surprise, as we hadn't discussed that. The cost was still within the very reasonable and expected range I'd been quoted on the phone. When I followed up with a phone call, Joe informed me about some issues with my roof. I know he wasn't just saying this to get more business because I'd had estimates on a new roof two years ago and never replaced it at the time. Some people might not have mentioned the condition of the roof and I appreciated his expert opinion. I won't hesitate to get a quote from Joe when I'm ready to replace the roof. I'll definitely use Hennelly & Son again, as well as recommend them to my friends.

This guy is the best. I called him last Thursday and said he would be here Tuesday early. 7;45 he was here and went to work. On the phone he quoted me 120.00 As I was writing the check he said it would only be 80.00 because of my hip roof and conditions. Not many guys would do that. Excellent response great work at a great price. I have his card now and will use him forever.

I had a hole in the second floor roof of my house. In addition to potentially letting water in, the hole was being used by a squirrel to get into my roof space. I called Hennelly and Sons Roofing (and a couple other roofers) to get an estimate and to have the roof patched. Joe was very prompt to call me back (<20 minutes after leaving my message, if I remember correctly), which I appreciated. Due to the limited daylight hours in Boston this time of year (winter), it took a few days before Joe had a chance to check out my roof, but even then he was great about calling me back and letting me know when he thought he could get to it. Before the week was over I had a patched roof at a price I thought was reasonable. I was not at my house when the work was completed, but Joe sent me before, during, and after pictures of the repairs. He also followed-up with a phone call to answer my questions. And I am very pleased with the work. Hennelly and Sons Roofing did a really good job matching the existing shingles and making the patch look seamless. The ground area below where the work was done was free from debris (shingle bits, nails, etc), so you would not even know they had been there. Also, they made sure the squirrel was out before sealing the hole. The true test came a few days later when it rained. A lot. No leaks from the patched area, so it was watertight. A day or so after that the squirrel tested the patched area, but could not get in, so it was also well secured. I would use Hennelly and Sons Roofing again.

We had a problem last year with the downspout of our copper gutter system freezing up. Due to lots of freeze and thaw cycles last winter we ended up with lots of ice building up on the outside of the downspout which was a danger to passersby. The problem due to the downspout being installed with 3 elbows in it ( NOT by Joe Hennelly but by the builder of this 6 year old building) We decided to go with heater cables for both the gutters and the downspouts Joe stopped by a week before the scheduled installation to review the work which I appreciated. The morning of the installation is was bitterly cold but Joe and his worker showed up right on time. The work went pretty quickly. They used ladders to reach the gutter on the building and dropped a line through the downspout so they could pull the heater cable up to the gutters. They accessed the gutters to clip in the cables from a roof deck. We had power outlet near our front door where we could plug in the cable when the weather required it. I bought some black plastic wire cover to hide the cable. Joe was very neat about the install to make it as invisible as possible even going so far to use a sharpie pen to cover a the nail heads of a couple of clips near our front door. All in all it took about 2 1/2 hours. I was thrilled once again by Joe's work (we used him to fix a leak in a gutter last year) Can't recommend him enough. He is a pleasure to work with.

I called Joe just 3 days ago -- very late in the season as leaves were still on many of my trees. At first he said he won't be able to come until early December since he was booked solid for next two weeks plus there is Thanksgiving next week. To my surprise he showed up today with his two hard working helpers and as always did wonderful job. This is first time I use his service for gutter cleaning as in the past he worked (fixed and replaced some of my copper gutters). I was very impressed with the quality of his work again ! He cleaned all gutters, removed 3 bird nests, clean all around the house after he was done. He even use windex to clean some trims and siding that came in contact with debris from the gutters. I want to mention that my house is very big and has a lot of small sections of gutters with very difficult access due to presence of shrubs and trees in close proximity to the building. In the past I used my landscape service to clean the gutters but watching Joe preforming this service today I realize that having professional to do it is worth very penny!

I was so impressed with these guys, I had to write a review. The day I made the call, they were here. My gutters were overflowing with sludge and leaves. Two very professional guys showed up a couple hours later and cleaned all the gutters and also cleaned up the mess afterward. They left my gutters pristine! I would totally use them again!!

Sent Joe a message through Angies list regarding services. He responded within hours and provided me a number to reach him. he was very professional and worked with me to find a day and time that would work. He informed during call that he was sending out two workers to do the job. They showed up on time and were very polite. My elderly mother was concerned with the ladders possibly damaging her flowers that border the house. The young men were very patient and explained what they were going to do and let her walk around with them and she pointed out plants and flowers and rambled a bit. At no point were they at all frustrated and never rushed her in any way. They did a great job of really cleaning out everything and making sure the water was running through properly. They cleaned up and stayed to chat about possible roof repairs in future. This was a fantastic experience and I will use Joe Hennelly and his team for gutters and roofing and repairs in the future, and am referring him to friend and family now.
