Hennelly & Son Roofing & Gutters

We had several downspouts that needed to be reattached and needed to have the gutters cleaned out. Called and they initially said that they would be able to schedule us in a few days, but they were in the area and were able to get to us the next day. Met them at the house and they completed the work quickly and cleaned up the debris from the gutters. Will definitely use again.

Joe is a great communicator. Kept me up to date on progress and schedule as we progressed through a few rainy days preventing work. Executed work and cleaned up wonderfully. Honest and hardworking team. Couldn't be happier. And I'm assuming the work is great.

Based on the feedback from other Angie's List members, I called Hennelly and Son to ask them to clean our gutters. We left a message on the number listed and Joe Hennelly got back to us on the same day and was able to schedule our cleaning for the same week. During our preliminary discussion, we told Joe that we had owned the home for 2 years and were uncertain when/if the gutters had been cleaned and also mentioned that some of the seams would need to be caulked. To make matters more complicated, we warned Joe that we had used a roofing company that did a terrible job so we were certain that there would also be roofing material in the gutters. Joe arrived on the appointed day and did a very thorough job at cleaning the gutters and removing the debris. While he was on the ladder, Joe sent me 2 pictures of the roofing materials that lined the gutters and informed me that since there were so many nails in the gutter, he would have to sweep the gutters by hand in order to insure that the nails didn't end up on the ground. Before leaving the job site, Joe called us to let us know that the service had been preformed and that we should feel free to call him if we had any questions. I am very pleased with the professionalism, responsiveness and customer service that we received from Hennelly and Son and will be using them for our gutter needs in the future.

They assessed my fascia board and gutter on the rear of my house and provided an estimate. Said they would likely be able to complete the job in a week or two, depending on their schedule. Then two days later, they called and said they could do the job that day. They arrived on time, set up, and replaced both my fascia board and gutter, taking their time to do it right. When they were done, they then cleaned my property of all wood, nails, and other debris and took my old gutter with them for disposal. I couldn't be more pleased. Total professionals!

I called Joe Hennelly today (4/22) to have him come and give me an estimate on the repair work needed on my gutter and carport roof. He mentioned he was in my area and could come over within a half hour. As usual he arrived on time, surveyed the work needed to be done and quoted a price, mentioning that he had the time to do the work right now. Because I have used this company before and was very happy with their performance, I agreed to the price (which I thought was very fair) and Joe and his team got to work. Within the hour the work was done and I was thrilled with the results. As I have mentioned before in a previous review, I find Joe and his team to be fair and honest in the cost of the service they charge and the work done on a very professional level. We will soon need a new carport roof and Joe has given us a fair estimate of the work needed to be done. I highly Joe and team and will certainly have them perform our next job. Give him a call if you need a roof or gutter installed or repaired -- you won't regret it!

Did a great job! On time, very nice, cleaned gutters, replaced downspout, and took photos of roof so an estimate can be done on replacing the main roof and the roof on an addition.

Joe came out to my house on short notice to perform a roof inspection. He was prompt and was willing to accomodate my schedule when others wouldn't even do an inspection. Joe seemed very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him for any roofing work.

Joe was great!!! He responded like "lightening fast"!!!! These days when many people don't answer their phone - Joe answered the first time I called him and told me he would call me back to schedule the work. Well today - not even 24 hours later he called me to say he was in the area and could take a look. He and his son went up on the roof, etc. and fixed the problem. Done! I am thrilled - I would call him again. Thank you Joe!!!!!!

Joe showed up when he said, he used the materials I requested, he was quick, reasonably priced and he did a great job. I wil be hiring him to do the rest of my gutter work

I called Hennelly & Son about a downspout (three floors up) that was blown off my house during one of this winter's major storms. Joe squeezed me in the next morning, on their way to another job in my neighborhood. 30 minutes, a little repair work, a really tall ladder, and a new bracket to brace it against the house, and they were done, with plenty of time to spare before the heavy rain we're supposed to have tomorrow. I also asked them to take a look at the roof on my detached garage, which seemed to be sagging a bit. They didn't mind the "while you're here" at all. They explained what it would take to fix that little bit of sagging and told me it wasn't worth the expense since there was no leaking and the roof was in otherwise good condition. (Full disclosure: there may have been a little new homeowner anxiety going on there. They took it in stride.) As they were leaving, one of the guys volunteered that the gutters looked pretty new and were in good condition. (So you picked up on the new homeowner anxiety, did you? Ha!) I really appreciate knowing that, instead of getting the old "have you considered X" or "we really should take a closer look at Y." I had a great experience with Hennelly & Son. They were honest, fast, and friendly. When those gutters finally do need work, I'm calling Joe.

There was a large 14' ice dam on the exterior facade of our four story brownstone in the South End that broke free and was leaning dangerously away from the building ready to come crashing down from 3 stories up at any time. I needed someone to come quickly and remove it safely. I called about 10-15 other roofing and ice removal companies but all were busy or non-responsive. Then I called Joe and he was on his way to another job but realizing the urgency of my situation he re-routed and came to help immediately. Literally he was on-site in about 45 minutes from when I called. I was very pleasantly surprised. They came, removed the ice and we negotiated a fair price. Very professional, and excellent service.

It was an okay experience, but he said he would come back to finish a part of the job and he never did. But the weather got bad and we didn't follow up. The stuff that took out of the gutter, dead leaves etc was thrown all over the grass. Which again wasn't that big of a deal, but I prefer a company that would have cleaned up. However, they charged the price that they said they would charge us and got the job done quickly.

We called Joe Monday morning about a leak coming from the roof our condo. Within a few hours his son and crew were out on the roof clearing the snow and the ice dam causing the leak. They were super prompt and had the issue resolved in a matter of hours after contacting them. We definitely plan on using Hennelly & Son for any further roofing needs. And their prices were not crazy even though given the circumstances created by this winter in the North East they could've tried gauging us, they're fsur and honest. Most importantly prompt, professional and get the job done.

After calling 6 different roofing companies to try and find someone to clean the snow off of our flat roof, Joe Hennelly returned our call right away and was able to do the job within the hour. We discussed the job and was given a very fair estimate cost. Joe and his crew arrived on time and got to work cleaning all of the season's snow from our flat roof. They did a great job getting all of the snow off, showing us pictures of the work they did. We hired them again to clean the roof off of our carport. Dennis, one of Joe's worker, arrived the next day and got right to work. We were concerned because the carport roof was very old and were afraid Dennis might fall through. He did a great job clearing all the snow off the carport roof and also cleaned up all the snow that fell in the yard. We were very fortunate to find Hennelly & Son. They were responsive, friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. We were extremely pleased with their service and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

in the middle of the worst winter in boston in 100 years, and despite a fully loaded schedule, hennelly and son came and made an opening in a completely iced roof that diverted the water flow that had caused a major leak inside the house. he came the same day i called, despite -- as i said before -- already being completely over-booked. i called 7 different roofers, and he was the only one that (a) actually answered his own phone and (b) came to help. my whole roof needs to be done, and i know what joe did may only be temporary, but bravo for him for coming to the rescue for a very reasonable price.

Once they came to do the work in the spring, they were very efficient. The new gutters look great and improve the look of the whole house, especially now that the color matches the off-white trim of the house, instead of the old, bright-white gutters.

This is the third time I have used Hennelly & Son Roofing & Gutters to clean my gutters. He always answers his phone or calls back right away. Shows up when he says he will be there. Very pleasant. Recommended company to my employer. Will continue to use him in the future.

I contacted Joe in early Nov 2014 regarding having him clean our gutters. He was very responsive and courteous. Despite being the late fall, he assured me that he could do this. We scheduled a time later that month, but poor weather caused a delay. He promised that he'd call me to reschedule, and though I tried on several attempts to contact him and his promises to come out and do the work, he ultimately never responded and simply stopped returning my calls. Not sure why he gets such great ratings. I guess he wasn't going to make that much money off of us to bother traveling to my town. UPDATE 2/25/15 - Joe called me after I posted this review and apologized. We had a good discussion, and he offered to clean our gutters for free this spring once the snow melts. I have changed this review to a C rating for now, and assuming that he follows through, would upgrade it again. UPDATE 6/8/15 - Joe was true to his word. I contacted him about the free cleaning he offered me several months ago, and his team was out within short order. I appreciate the effort he put into connecting with me and keeping his promise; thus, I've upgraded his rating.

Among the approximately 15 contractors I called to inquire about snow removal from our 3-family building, Mr Hennelly was the quickest, most responsive, and most willing to fulfill our request ahead of an approaching storm. Due to a scheduling snafu with another contractor, we were not able to use Mr. Hennelly although we had hoped to do so, as he also quoted by far the fairest price for the work. When I called to apologize for the scheduling error, he was extremely polite and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to use his services in the future.

After we had a record-breaking 70 + inches of snow in Boston, my gutter broke off of the wall and was hanging down into the alleyway next to my house. I was concerned that it would fall, and I wanted someone to come out and fix it. I looked on Angie's List and found Hennelly & Son. I called Joe, and he immediately answered the phone. He came the next day to look at my roof and gutter, and then the following day, he and his team came on time and scraped off all of the ice and snow off of my roof, and took down the gutter. At all times, Joe and his team were very responsive and professional. I appreciated that Joe was able to come so quickly, given how busy all of the roofers and gutter people are with these snow storms. Joe was excellent, and I would recommend Hennelly & Son to anyone.

I waited six months to submit this review because I wanted to see how well the gutter guards Joe and his team installed would hold up. They really work great, especially during the heavy fall leaf season as well as during the recent snow storm. I am extremely happy with the service I received and the price was very reasonable. We had a basement problem possibly due to gutter overflow because there are tall trees around the house clogging the gutters. We had called another gutter company in for cleaning and they charged us about $300 a trip. It was expensive and we almost needed to clean every 2 weeks during Spring and Fall. I called Joe and he personally answered the phone and came out quickly to look at the job. He showed us several options for the gutter guard. He was very honest and recommended one design he liked (actually the cheapest option). I looked up online myself. Consumer reports also suggested that that particular design was the most effective one based on their testing. So we went with that particular design. It is made of steel (feels very study, not the flimsy plastic ones) and easy to clip on and off for cleaning or gutter repair. On the day of the installation, Joe and his teammate came on time and they installed the gutter guards after they cleaned the gutter. In addition, Joe also noticed that two flashings needed to be changed. He made two copper flashings on the spot and fixed them next to the gutter and they look great. Joe also repaired a few leak spots in the gutter and re-pitched one of the gutters next to the porch. He was meticulous and really nice and honest. His price is very fair considering the service we received. Joe's installation of gutter guards for the house only cost us less than $700 including material compared to $300/ cleaning we had been paying. I highly recommend him and his team. Not only was his price very fair, his service was superior to others. Our basement problem did not come back and the gutters work great.

Very pleased with service. Because of bad weather we had to reschedule a couple of times but he was very responsive.
