Hennelly & Son Roofing & Gutters

Joe was supposed to come out on 11/27 to replace some of our gutters and some of the wood behind the gutters. He called on the 27th (the day after Thanksgiving) to say that the supplier that had the gutters was unexpectedly closed that day so they could not get the materials they needed. I was understanding and thought that would mean that they could pick up the materials on Monday or sometime the next week (or even 2 weeks) and come back and do the job. I was dead wrong. I repeatedly texted and called to see when they could complete the work. I was getting the runaround for a couple of weeks. Then I was able to get in touch with Joe and he said that things were "going bad" for him recently. He said that he had hurt his arm, had a bunch of workers call out, etc. He said he was not going to be able do the work at my place at all. So I am beyond frustrated because of 2 reasons. 1) I could have had another contractor do the work but instead I'm waiting on Joe because he has all of these good reviews. and 2) I see reviews on here where he is actually doing jobs for other people when he supposedly cannot possibly do my job. This does not seem professional and I am highly disappointed. I felt compelled to let other Angie's List users know about my experience.

crew showed up when scheduled, and called on the way. so far the work seems good, I'll know for sure when it rains / snows. Very professional, response was great for the most part.

Joe was very responsive. Set a date and sent a crew of two out to the house to clean gutters that were so dirty they were growing grass in them. Also asked if I could get a quote to re-do or fix some flashing on one side of the house. Had other quotes already for $1,000+. They cleaned out the gutters, looked carefully at the flashing and recommended that they didn't have to do any additional work because the problem was related to clogged gutters. They also drove by my office so I could cut them a check. Just excellent service all around.

Joe was very easy to work with. Hie and his crew arrived and completed the job in one day. They needed to replace rotted wood underneath and replaced the shingles. They also cleaned up and took all the debris away. Looks great!

after a few emails he gave us what was a reasonable estimate and said he would be out right after Thanksgiving. We have not heard or seen him since. (except in passing on the road on my way to work on the highway). I guess the job wasn't big enough??

Joe was responsive, professional and friendly from the first phone call. He was able to visit our home that same day to see the work that needed to be done (replacing our rear gutters/downspout which had been damaged by ice during winter 2015). He scheduled the job in a timely fashion, and his crew were punctual and clean in completing the work. Great job- we are very pleased!

Joe was great. He was very responsive to phone calls and emails (especially compared to other roofers with whom we've worked in the past). He checked in with us beforehand, made sure he had all our specifications met and materials ready, and even coordinated with our contractor (we were gutting the kitchen at the same time). His price was fair based on other estimates. He and his crew showed up promptly on the scheduled day. Joe called us when he had any questions. His crew worked efficiently and was done on time. They did a thorough job of cleaning up; we haven't found one stray nail. We have already hired him to come back and clean our gutters!

Joe and his team were very responsive and squeezed us in to their tight schedule on short notice. Joe followed up before and after the service to make sure we were satisfied.

They were very courteous and proffesional. I thought they would only be able to take care of the gutters but when I asked them about the rotted wood we had they fixed it all on the spot. I was very pleased with their work. I wll use them anually to clean our gutters and next spring to power wash our deck.

Joe Hennelly and team replaced a flat rubber roof and gutter for me last Fall. I received several quotes for the project, and Joe's was on the lower end. He was more responsive than other providers in providing a quote, as I think he met me the day after I initially called him to take a look at the project. Joe even had some recommendations on how to reduce the cost of the project, which was helpful. After his initial inspection, he noted that the neighbor's roof (attached to mine, as this is a city rowhouse) was experiencing some issues. We're lucky Joe noticed this, as that issue ultimately would have impacted my roof as well. Joe ended up doing the work on that house as well. Despite some delays in the work due to weather-related issues (tough to find a streak of dry days in late November), Joe was in constant communication throughout and kept me updated on a daily basis, which I greatly appreciated. The work went well and Joe's team did a nice job. We made it through this past winter with no issues. Would definitely recommend Hennelly and Sons, and in fact I'm using them on a separate project now.

Amazing experience!!! From my first phone call with Joe, to my final handshake with Mike, these gentleman are class acts and hold true to their word. They priced the job incredibly fair, showed up early so I could still make it to work, cleaned out the gutters quickly and effectively, and educated me throughout the process to ensure I was properly maintaining my recently purchased condo. We will most certainly use Joe and his team each fall moving forward and have already called him back to come do some work on our roof. Thank you Joe, Mike, and Mike for your service! Joe was extremely professional. After having contacted several contractors who either never showed up or got back to us three weeks later, Joe was great. He came to see the garage roof and provided a quote the same day. He left samples of the roofing material he would use (Timberline high def) and basically just needed a check to get started. We ended up going with another contractor that came through a work connection only because he gave us an extremely discounted price that Joe (nor any other contractor) could match. We would absolutely call Joe again.

Excellent job. Showed up on time, kept me informed of progress, did exactly what I asked to be done. Kept within promised budget. Very good work.

It went very well. Joe came out within two days, checked my roof, and determined that the roof was in good condition.

had asked Joe to take a look at a potential issue with the edge of the roof where a leak was entering the house above a couple of windows on one side of the house. Joe showed up on time, took a look, and assessed the situation right away. He cleaned the gutters and identified an issue with the gutters which were pulled away from the edge of the roof which was allowing water to run down the side of the house which was causing the water to enter the house. He repaired the problem and cleaned all the gutters all before my approval but when he called me to tell me what he had done he did mention that he took care of it and if i was not ok with paying him for the work because he did not get my approval first then i would get a free job. I told him that i would pay him but if the issue was not resolved that he would come back and do the necessary work to repair and he was ok with it. It was a reasonable $250 for everything. Update: the leak came back. I contacted Joe a handful of times that included calls and texts and it took over a month to get back to me. he finally came back, took a look and re-applied silicone to holes that he saw on the gutters and said our gutters need to be replaced and that he was booked until March 2016 and was on his way as if the visit was an inconvenience to him. I've updated the rating to reflect responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism.

Joe was really responsive... In fact he was one of the only contractors who could help is out in a timely manner. . We had some serious damage from this past winter and needed repair. . Most roofers said it could be done in December some as late as February/March! He got the work done quickly and his team did a great job of cleaning up too. . The job was done in 2 days with a return visit to fix a skylight that he saw was damaged. . 2 months went by and I noticed water runoff did not look right so I called and he came that day and cleaned out our gutters and took care of everything.

Joe told me that he would be by to give an estimate on October 7th. We were home, accepted his estimate, and scheduled to have it installed on October 26th. Then 48 hours, to our surprise, we had a gutter on our house. He realized that he could squeeze us in as he was in the area. He is very professional and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. We had tried to get several other companies out and they didn't bother to return our calls.

We had an ice dam during that awful winter of 2015. It caused some damage to one section of our roof and gutter. I had a lot of trouble getting around to repairing it--over the spring and summer it was an inactive problem, and I had a lot of other things on my plate. But then we got a really bad rain storm at the end of September, and suddenly it became an active problem--water started leaking into my house. The first couple of Angie's List roofers I called the day of the storm said they were booked up solid. When I called Hennelly the next day, he sent a guy (Dominic) over within two hours. Dominic surveyed the situation, outlined a set of things he thought needed to be done to correct the problem and make the house water-tight, and wrote me an estimate. He went to get an assistant and supplies and came back in early afternoon. By the end of the day they had completed all the work, in time for the next wave of the storm. Dominic thinks he was able to address the full problem, but told me to call again if I see any signs there's some vulnerability he missed. Now I feel like I have the right company in my contact list whenever I need gutter cleaning or repair, or if this coming winter brings more ice dams.

A fantastic experience from start to finish. These guys responded quickly to a phone call about a leak in our roof and made room in their schedule to check it out later that day. They pinpointed the problem as a relatively easy to patch leak and they did the work right then and there. We had previously lined up a far less reputable roofer who had said it was going to be a major fix - that roofer also kept claiming they'd show up to fix it, but never did, prompting our call to Hennelly and Sons. Bottom line, Hennelley & Sons were professional, efficient, and honest - we'd definitely call on them again in the future.

First, the team went to Winter Street instead of Windsor, and called to say they were coming to do an estimate. I said, no, that this was a fix-it job. When they arrived, they worked fast. Dominic fixed the gutter problem and climbed up to see the lower roof situation. He said it would cost me $350. I said, whoa, that Joe had said over the phone that he would give me the best price around. So Dominic lowered it. We agreed on $200. He applied silicone, not tar as my plumber had suggested, but that was okay with me, as I know nothing about sealing an old roof. All this took less than one half hour. He also straightened one of the other gutters, which I appreciated, and checked the other two, which were okay. They were about to leave when I said Joe had mentioned painting the gutter, that I wouldn't want it white when the house was yellow. Dominic said he would take off $25 or he could paint it if I wanted. We agreed to the discount. The issues with my house were dealt with but all in all this was not a very satisfactory experience, and I will shop around more the next time I need a handyman.

Joe was very responsive and punctual. He provided quality work and advise at a fraction of the cost of other estimates. He has made himself available over the phone and via email. I look forward to working with him again in the future.
