These guys were great! They were there when they said they would be, completed the job on time, and were very professional about it. They told us from the beginning that it would take about 3 weeks to get the permits and set up an appointment. In the third week, they called and said they'd be there on Thursday. They did the entire roof in 1 day. The clean up was amazing, you wouldn't have known they were there, except for the brand new roof. Not a nail in sight. At one point during the day, there was a miscommunication in that we wanted a vent added, and the roofer thought we wanted one replaced. He called and advised us that the vent we had selected was too small, but offered to go out and get us the correct one right then and there! He was really willing to go above and beyond. The price was fair, and we were really pleased with the work.

After researching roofers on Angie's List, we contacted several roofers for estimates. A & J seemed to have the most reasonable price and their representatives seemed to be more professional than the others. We were in contact with them several times as we wanted to be sure we had picked the right roofer as we had heard so many horror stories about inferior roofing work. The sales representative came over and went over the entire contract with us and changed a couple of the terms, per our request. It took awhile to actually schedule the job due to a rainy couple of weeks. A & J showed up on the day appointed and the job was completed in one day. They did a nice job of cleaning up afterwards. We requested a small cosmetic change and they took care of that right away. We are happy with our new roof and would recommend A & J.

Had called this contractor based on the A ratings on Angie's List. I had contacted them last year for another job, but found it difficult nailing down an exact time for a representative to come to give an estimate. We would play phone tag leaving message on each others machines; decided to go with another person for the deck work. This past Winter 2011 we decided to give them another chance as we had roof leaking and wall damage due to ice dams and snow build up; we left several messages on the answering machine - but received no call back. We called twice and each time got an answering machine - granted it was a busy month for this kind of work and snow removal, but felt that it would have been nice to make a courtesy call back to the customer to let them know 1) They got your message and 2) They had too many jobs and couldn't work with yours right now. Other contractors either had an answering service or secretary to make the appointments promptly getting back to you. We felt if getting in touch with them when just trying to get an estimate and appointment set up is difficult then anything else after this would be just a nightmare in case we had to get in touch with them during construction or had a question about something; I will leave it at that.

Two men came to the house to remove snow from a flat roof. After about 10 minutes of shoveling the entire gutter--a long long gutter--came crashing to the ground. Would it have fallen otherwise, in the spring when the snow melted? Who knows...... ! They did not apologize or suggest that they woud help fix the problem. A month later, I called the same company-- I know: I'm an idiot!-- to help fix an ice dam that was causing a leak in the house. The man said someone would be there "first thing in the morning." No one ever showed--and no one bothered to call. They completely ignored me--after specifically saying they would be there!! I spent hours on a ladder and fixed the problem myself

After three snow storms, ice dams collected along some of the edge of my house causing obvious leak-type damage to an interior wall and a couple of ceilings. I called A & J, and they were incredibly sensitive to my situation and made my house a priority despite their having received many similar calls for roof clearing that day. I was quoted their "usual" charge for such a job, fully expecting a surcharge after the fact since my house is a Victorian and has a high roof with steep angles. They arrived that afternoon and removed all the snow from my roof and broke up the ice dam. The price did not change, despite the precarious nature of the job. I would hire A & J again in a heartbeat for this service (although I hope I won't need to) and intend to call them in the early spring for a quote on the new roof I'd already planned to have installed this year. The owner is professional and went out of his way to meet us to go over estimates after work and explained in detail the work that needed to be done and the cost. He was pleasant to work with and extremely professional. His contractors did an excellent job with the roofing, the gutters and the clean up. They completed the job on time. The owner also was accessible on the phone whenever I had questions. I would hire them back to do any work on the house.

It went great. They were in and out in one day. They replaced two panels that corresponded to the locations of two leaks I have on the inside. The all seams/flashing/drip edges were cleanly installed. My roof looks awesome. I left their sign in front for four weeks. The only thing I'd say they could improve on was communictaion. They were tough to get on the phone. But even if the communication wasn't perfect, the work was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again (I've got another couple small sheds to do), or recommend them to a close friend. I'm very happy with this contractor.

Andy and the guys did a great job. They were here early and got right to work. They are very professional. They came to repair a job and actually made the house better than before the accident. They had to do a couple of extra things that came up (unforeseen) and charged a very modest price. No shortcuts taken here. They do good work and are very clean. I recommend them very strongly. We don't need any other home improvement company. These guys are 100%.

This is the third job they did for us. Previously they completely replaced a roof on another 1800's house and porch. They also replaced the roofs on the porches of a third house. All three prices were fair. The work was excellent. Andy, the owner, was super-responsive and reliable. He immediately addressed all our concerns. Communication was easy. Work was completed in a timely fashion. Crew was very considerate and professional. They cleaned up nicely after the jobs.

Andy came the day after we called and examined our problems--most caused by the badly installed exhaust fan--and he gave us an estimate. He had a crew open the next day. The men arrived promptly with all needed equipment, and using care around our lawn and gardens, got to work. Andy arrived later in the morning to check on the work and it was completed that afternoon. Cleanup was excellent--no evidence of them ever being there--except my fan works fine, no more leaks from it, and we were completely satisfied. Cost was as given to us in the estimate. We would call them again for any repairs and recommend them to anyone.

We are very happy with the service from A & J Home Improvement. Andy is thorough, knowledgeable, articulate and quoted a very reasonable price. I would definitely call them again for further home repairs.

They did a great job. Everything was really professional from start to finish. They were on time with their bid. They did the work when they said they were going to. They promised to be there if we needed them in the future. We didn?t have any problems with them at all.

Andy was very responsive from the start. His team was quick and helpful. They completed my roof in 1 1/2 days and another team installed gutters in 1/2 a day.

Amazingly efficiently. Took 3 1/2 days (Mon. Wed. Fri. Sat am) for the complete job (Tue & Thu were rainy days) with complete clean-up each night. Very professional crew of 7 or 8 with company owner on site every day. Used Roofers Buggy, ladder elevator and nail magnet to ensure a clean and efficient operation and worked on 1/3rd of roof each day plus 1/2 day for porch to ensure there was no risk from unexpected showers. I had called several references and they couldn't have praised him more - and they were dead right.

Excellent service. Crew arrived on schedule and worked quickly. Andy (owner) was present and working along with the crew. They cleaned the yard thoroughly after each day of work. They got the job done to our satisfaction. I would definitely work with Andy again.
