Ed gave me a quick estimate which sounded reasonable. I had a tenant moving in about a week later, a Monday, and asked Ed if he could do the job by Friday. He said he would do it. On Thursday I texted him to make sure that our verbal agreement was still solid. My text was 'Ed - expecting you to do this work for the price quoted'. He responded 'Yes'. Figured I was all set. On Tuesday of the following week I queued up Ed's payment and texted him to make sure it was all done. Text was: Ed Is this done. I queued up your payment to Bofa. Ed's response: Is what done? Understand that we had previously both texted and spoke on the phone. Ed told me he liked texting. If he scrolled back he would've seen the pictures he texted me of my chimney and may not have been so befuddled by my question.. Ed called me and could not remember anything about the job. He did not remember taking pictures or us talking about it. He was totally confused. I had to remind him of driving out there and climbing up my chimney and taking pictures. After several minutes he remembered but the told me (because his memory is so good) that I never gave him the go ahead. Somehow, he could remember that clearly. After a couple of minutes of trying to remind him of that I gave up and asked him if he could just do the inside work before the tenant moved in. He hemmed and hawed to the point where I said 'Do I need to call somebody else' and he said 'yeah, call someone else'. The guy left me in a bind by not doing the work as agreed. He is completely disorganized and forgetful. On top of that, when I told him that we had agreed he just denied it instead of trying to work out the misunderstanding. Then he totally left me in the lurch ... Back to square one when I thought this problem was long solved. So, my experience was awful. I never write bad reviews but this warrants one. I own 8 homes and deal with vendors all of the time. This experience was one of the all time lows. I think I am just as happy that he never got to work on my house.

Good- after a quick inspection, the serviceman indicated that the flue was functional and that at some point we should get it cleaned but that there was no rush since we do not use the house year-round. very helpful and reasonably priced.

Someone working on our roof said that the chimney, which is not visible from the ground, needed work. Ed was working on a neighbor's house and I asked him to take a look at our chimney. He checked the indoor sections and said they were fine, then went on the roof. (I then left town for a few weeks.) Ed sent photos showing the top courses had partly fallen off (there were loose bricks on the roof) and gave an estimate. The estimate seemed reasonable compared to cost of chimney repair given in Angie's List reviews by others, so I asked him to do the work. A few weeks later, he sent photos of the completed work. Looks great. Ed was very pleasant and easy to deal with. Communication was excellent. No problems at all!

I called the chimney pro ,he was at my house the same day and within a week the job was completed. He did a good job and carried himself well.
