 + -1 morePaul came out and reviewed the project with us. He spent a little more than an hour talking through some initial ideas. He provided us with a ballpark figure for us to consider. From the start we felt like we could work with Paul and that our project would be in great hands. Ultimately his pricing was very reasonable but out of our budget. Rather than go with a design to build we decided to go with a general contractor and we worked closely with Kitchen Cabinet retailer to help us layout the space as it was very straight forward in our case. In the future we will definitely call Paul when we need to look at a full design for the space with complete project management services.

 + -1 more* detailed 3 month schedule and costs followed nearly perfectly * weekly meetings assured us all complexities are handled and gave us ample opportunity to change our minds before progressing too far. * final touch ups were prompt and unobtrusive, even over the Christmas holidays. * mistakes made by subcontractors were painlessly remedied I have never seen this level of professionalism in a contractor, and I would never have expected to see this level of professionalism in the Boston area. Boyd in particular was an exceptional project manager.
Description of Work: Remodel kitchen, bathroom, dining room, family room. Bathroom was previously just a laundry room.

 + 1 moreWe found Paul through someone who hires lots of carpenters for various people and projects. The someone else said he doesn't do the carpentry himself anymore but if it was his house he wanted worked on, he would choose Paul. This seemed like a good recommendation and we have been happy with the results!
Description of Work: We had shelves built into the eaves in two upstairs bedrooms. We had also hired Paul Morse a few years ago to take down an old garage and un-pave our backyard, install a retaining stone wall and put down loam.

Description of Work: My architect referred me to Morse to get a proposal for some renovation work on my second floor. I spoke to someone who I believe was the owner. Before he would discuss my project at all he sort of began this rather disturbing financial qualification process, First he wanted to know who else was bidding on the job. He told me he would not give me a proposal unless I told him what the other bids came in at. I balked at this and gave him a ballpark of my budget. He then told me I probably could not afford to do the sort of work I wanted to do (install a dormer for a bathroom add on) but he would take a look if I would deliver plans to his office. My architect told me to pass. I had 4 proposals come in at well under half of his minimum range. I took a bid from the middle and the work game out great. I don't know what his problem was. When I called his office to explain that I decided not to take him up on his offer to look at my plans, the young guy I spoke to was very nice and said someone would call me back. It seemed like the sort of response you might expect. But no one ever did. I guess the owner felt I was not good enough. Too bad, I won't call him for the work I have coming next.

 + 2 moreOverall, we were very pleased. They provided us with a detailed quote, were incredibly professional and great to work with. We ran into some delays on the project due to delays from a subcontractor on the cabinets, but the contractors genuinely understood the frustration and tried to do the best they could with the situation. There were some unexpected charges that came up during the project, we thought the architectural design was included in the general quote- and it wasn't. All in all, they worked with our design and tried to help us save some money, but we still came in over budget. However, we LOVE our kitchen and would work with Morse Construction again.
Description of Work: They remodeled our kitchen: removing a wall, opening up the dropped ceiling to cathedral height, installing an island, new appliances and custom cabinets, moving a door and window.
