+ 0 moreKevin and his crew fixed a small section of slate roof including installing copper flashing and custom copper gutter. They did an excellent job. Since they needed to order matching slate for my roof, it took a little while for them to get to my job, which I expected. What was great was that they came right away to do a temporary fix since I had a slight leak. Kevin explained all the work that needed to be done, gave me some different pricing options, and took pictures of the finished job. I would definitely recommend Historical Slate Roofing without reservation.

He has helped us through many emergencies and most recently this winter after a hundred foot tree decided to find it’s way onto our roof. He knows where to source the perfect colored slate, installation is fast and top notch, and he always goes above and beyond. It’s nice to have someone treat your home as if it were his own. He is honest, trustworthy and shows up when he says he will. He leaves the job site in perfect condition and has always stayed on budget. Can’t say enough good things about Historical Slate!

+ 0 moreOverall the work was excellent. The heating coil was installed, worked properly and the slates repaired and areas caulked. Subsequent to the initial work, they would send emails to check in and when we had need for some follow up issues to be resolved they responded promptly at no additional cost.
Description of Work: We have a slate roof on an historical home that was experiencing water issues due to ice dams and other problems. Historical Slate provided estimates for several approaches and we selected adding a heating element that would be activated when snow occurred to eliminate the ice dams. They also replaced missing/broken slates and sealing up potential areas where water could get under the slates.

+ -1 moreI couldn't ask for a better experience. Kevin was very friendly, had deep knowledge of slate roofs, and competitively priced. I had questions throughout the selection, planning and pre-installation process - and Kevin was very responsive with his replies. Installation day went very smoothly. Kevin and his crew came at 9 am and finished by 4 pm - all 3 skylights installed and house and yard cleaned up. In addition, Kevin noticed some missing slates and patched up for me. Would definitely recommend and use again for my slate roofing needs.

+ 0 moreKevin and his crew are phenomenal! Calls and emails were always promptly returned, quotes were very reasonable and quickly supplied to me, and no extra work was done without my permission. The replacement slate that was needed took some time for him to find, but he did and it was seamlessly integrated in with the existing tiles. Some sections of copper gutters were also replaced and they fixed what the last contractor had attempted to install. His crew was so helpful, knowledgeable and respectful, and all of my questions and concerns were taken care of. Not that I ever want ice **** damage on my roof again, but if there is, there is no doubt that Historical Slate will be the only ones I will trust to get the work done.

+ 0 moreThe job went very smoothly and was completed in one day. There was some delay in the scheduling as weather and other factors slowed them up on jobs before ours but they were in communication with us throughout the waiting period.
Description of Work: We needed repairs to our slate roof (replacing missing or broken slates) and copper gutters (bent or broken) and a solution for ice dams that were happening in a particular area of the roof. We were given two suggestions for the ice dam problem to choose from with an explanation as to the pluses and minuses of each.

+ 0 moreKevin answered my call the next day, came for an estimate on the same day, emailed me a proposal for fixing the roof one day later. Comparing to 2 other proposals I got, his was very knowledgeable with the problem, provided a more thorough solution, listed out his work in more details, his price was in the middle. He also gave me options for fixing the gutter and downspout which were also damaged by the tree. After we chose his company to do the work, they came on the day as promised, finished the work on time, kept work site clean, his crew was friendly, even cleaned some of my gutters when they were on the roof. They are a great small business, who is good at what they do, value and respect their customers, I highly recommend them.

Description of Work: My house which is two family dwelling that is over a hundred years old has a slate roof. I Have lived at that address for 48 yrs, during which time have hired several roofing contractors, to check for broken or missing pcs of slate. Had one I used for 20 odd years. During the real bad winter we had in 2015, like many other home owners had ice damage causing water to enter the house. He said he could not come for three weeks. I understood but was disappointed since we were good customers. Well along came Kevin Williams and his crew to shovel of the flat garage roof, plus put pellets in gutters to try and melt some of the snow. After three weeks the other roofer called and said he could remove the snow and ice. The cost to do that was quite substantial. By that time it had started melting. The following fall historical roofing put water shield under snow bars that were installed previously by the other roofer. This year in May we decided to have the bars and shield put on the other side. By of course historical slate. They also installed a rubber roof on the garage. Kevin and his cousin Fred are the nicest people you will ever meet as far as contractors go. They explain what their going to do and take pictures as they repair the roof so you can actually see what is under the slates. Historical roofing goes above and beyond to please their customers. I could go on and on about the company. Their ranking is not just an A, but A++.

They cleaned up the area they were working in at the end of every day. My comment about the price being fair and not excellent is because I was not able to obtain any other bids to compare it to. Plus, the reality is that copper work is expensive.

+ -1 moreFew of the people I had called bothered to return my calls. But Kevin called very promptly and told me that while they were very busy, they would get me on their list. He gave me an estimated date the work would be done, and called when he relized , due to the weather, in would in fact be one day later. He came with 2 other guys, all of whom were very friendly and professional. His rate was very reasonable, and in fact he charged me less because my husband had already done some clearing. I have heard lots of stories about people being gouged on prices for roof cleaning, or worse, having roofs destroyed by people who do not know what they are doing. He knew what he was doing. I will call them if I ever need any roof work done. His company says "historical slate roofs" but he told me they do all types of roofs.
Description of Work: I called Kevin Williams of Historical Roofing at the suggestion of a co-worker. We needed snow removal in the midst of the February snowstorms.

+ 1 moreI spoke with Kevin and asked him to come and give me a proposal. He was there within a few hours very cooperative and helpful when I asked him what needed to be repaired. He was very knowledgeable about slate roofing and how to takenon thenjob a section at a time and didn't try to up sell me on other areas in need of maintenance. I was surprised when I received the quote and the price. It was $2100 difference from the lowest bid we received... They showed up early to work and were very cconscious of our flowers and outdoor furniture . They also cleaned our gutters free of charge I have found our slate roofers and recommend that you give these guys a call you won't be sorry.
Description of Work: They replaced two tarred old copper valleys. Removed my chimney from the roof and repaired 36 broken slate tiles.
