Description of Work: Drain Doctor was recommended by one of our plumbers to deal with an exceptionally sluggish tub drain. We had tried our own homeowner methods, which provided limited temporary relief -- the problem always came back in a few weeks. Drain Doctor was much more thorough and intensive and did a great job. So far, no sign at all of the drain slowing.

Description of Work: Called by downstairs neighbors. They (neighbors and Drain Doctor employee) came to our unit stating that the clog was in the building's main line and needed to be unclogged from our unit's sink. Drain doctor unclogged the line, but left our sink's trap leaking. | |The employee promised he would come back to fix the trap that he left leaking, but was a no show and left us waiting all night. We called the next day and got a rude employee who said they would call us. That was a Saturday and by Tuesday no one had called us back. | |It took multiple calls to finally get them to send that same person to fix the sink THEY broke. When the employee finally came, he completely broke the trap and proceeded to lecture us on how sink traps should not be plastic and that we would need an actual plumber. Drain Doctor does not do plumbing work. | |I called a final time to lodge a complaint and was told that a manager would get back to me since they were not in the office. As of today, 5/26/2015, we are still waiting for that call. No one ever offered to cover the cost of repairing our sink, and instead my building's association had to cover the cost. | |I will never hire this company or ever let them do any work in my home ever again. They are completely irresponsible and unprofessional. | | |

Description of Work: My sewar pipes to the city street was backed up and Drain Doctor sent a person out immediately. The first man worked with a snake on it for about 4 hours but couldn't get it to clear. Since he couldn't clear clog, there was no charge. They sent out another worker with a bigger machine called an eel. After another 4 hours of non stop work the clog was cleared. They gave me a 3 month warrantee. Well about 3 months and 2 weeks, same thing happened. The man with the eel came back but this time had to go through different trap in the floor of my house, which meant cutting a hole in the carpet. I didn't care. I just wanted my utilities back working. Yes, due to the warrantee being expired it did cost me another $225 dollars but he got it done and knock on wood. I haven't had any problems since. (NOTE: I HAVE A HUGE OAK TREE IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE).

Description of Work: The Drain Doctors unclogged the main sewage pipe between my house and the sewer. I worked with three different guys, all of who worked really hard to solve my problem. In the end the pipe was broken and needed to be replaced, but they helped keep the sewage flowing out of the house until that could be done. They were extremely reasonable about what they charged me and were incredibly helpful in giving me recommendations as to what needed to be done and who I might use. I can't say enough about these guys.

 + -1 moreWhen the first person came, he was at the house for about two hours, but couldn't get it to go with the snake, or with a plunger. He even tried going through the basement. He said that they wouldn't charge us because they were unable to clear the drain, but that they would send a more experienced person the next day. The next day, the new person came and spent about an hour and was able to clear the drain with the snake. Right after he left, I noticed that our main drain stack was leaking in the basement. I called them back and within 5 minutes he was back to the house. He was able to plug the leak in the stack, and we tested it and it worked fine. All in all I was very pleased, they followed through until everything was working properly, all for the original $155 that they quoted us.
Description of Work: Our kitchen sink was not draining. They came in and snaked the drain.

 + -1 moreThis was the first time we used them. They were very punctual. They came within an hour of me calling them. They looked at the problem and told me how much it would cost. It took them the better part of three hours to fix the problem. They did not charge extra because it was an unusually difficult problem to work with. They stayed until it was fixed.

 + -1 moreOnce we found the tub was clogged, I checked Angie's List and called Drain Doctor. We were hoping someone would be able to come today, and I was told that I would get a call as to what time somebody would be over, depending on what time their other jobs finished up. Soon after, I got a call that they had just finished a job and were on their way over. Eric came over and was able to quickly snake our drain and fix the clog. We expected to have to pay a lot of money, especially since it was considered a night call - after 5:00 - but with our Angie's List discount, it only came to $150.00 and considering how prompt the service was, I think we got a great deal!
Description of Work: Our tub clogged completely and we needed someone to come over and snake it.

 + -1 moreIt was very straightforward. They came when they said they would come. He quickly got started. 'Bob' educated me on the cause of the problems. Importantly he snaked the drain 3 separate time to ensure the roots were completely removed. Very happy with the service. The price $195 is a little high, but I rang several as they were not as high as some.
Description of Work: Our main sewer line had was 95% blocked. They came in with a snake and 3" cutting blade to remove the tree roots that were blocking the drain.

 + -1 moreMy fiance and I were purchasing a home and were concerned about the state of the main sewer line in the house. If replacement was needed, it would be an expensive job. Drain Doctor was able to coordinate times and be present at the time of the home inspection to put a video camera down the pipes all the way to the city sewer, to ascertain that the plumbing was in good shape, and not in need of imminent repair. They were professional, friendly, and accomodating, and I would recommend them to anyone.

I was hoping to get it done in the next couple of days, but was happy to have such fast service. The guy arrive on time. He came in, cleared both drains very quickly and didn't leave a mess. He gave me a $20 discount from the $217.50 estimate, because the drains were easy to clear.
Description of Work: I had 2 bathroom sinks, that were very slow to drain. They came out and cleared them.

 + -1 moreWater in our basement from a slow main drain from our house to the street. Called around 9:00 in the morning and was told someone would be out between 11-1. Eric arrived at 2. Luckily my husband came home in time to help because the main drain clean-out access was blocked with a built-in bookcase. He considered other access points as well, but this was the best option. My husband and Eric removed the bookcase and Eric got to work cleaning out the drain. The job took longer than expected because of this ''carpentry''. Unfortunately, Eric forgot to tighten the cap before he left. We noticed the cover dripping when we ran the water about 15 minutes after he left. We called Drain Doctor immediately to find out if we needed special equipment to tighten the cover, but it was after 5 pm on a Friday. I left a message requesting a call back but still haven't heard from them (more than a week later). My husband tightened with a wrench, and it seems to be holding. Billed by the job, not hourly.

 + -1 moreTHEY SAID THAT IT WAS A NEW MACHINE THAT THEIR EMPLOYEE HAD NOT USED BEFORE. THEY SENT THEIR INSURANCE ADJUSTER WHO CAME OUT AND ASKED US TO GET TWO ESTIMATES FOR THE REPAIR. WE GOT THE ESTIMATES. THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER SAID THAT THE LOWER OF THE TWO ESTIMATES WAS FINE BUT THAT DRAIN DOCTOR IS ONLY COVERED FOR THE SECONDARY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THEIR WORK AND THAT THEY (TRAVELERS) WILL ONLY PAY $700 OF THE $3195 ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIR, OF WHICH DRAIN DOCTOR MUST PAY A $500 DEDUCTIBLE. DRAIN DOCTOR HAS YET TO OFFER TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE. THEY'VE SIMPLY TOLD US THAT THEY DISAGREE WITH THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY ON THE COVERAGE. WE ASKED THE REPAIR PLUMBER TO CALL THEM AND HE TOLD US THAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO CALL US BACK, BUT NO ONE HAS RETURNED OUR CALL. WE CAN'T GET THE WORK DONE UNTIL WE MAKE SURE THE PLUMBER IS GOING TO GET PAID. AND IT HAS NOW BEEN THREE MONTHS SINCE THIS ALL STARTED.
Description of Work: I HIRED THEM TO CLEAN OUR DRAINS. THEIR SNAKE GOT HOOKED ON SOMETHING IN THE PIPE. THEY YANKED ON IT IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY ENDED UP PUTTING A BIG HOLE IN OUR DRAIN PIPE.

 + -1 moreI CALLED DRAIN DOCTOR AND THEY SENT TIM OUT TO DO THE JOB. BEFORE HE ARRIVED, THEY CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT HE WAS ON HIS WAY. I THOUGHT THIS WAS VERY NICE. HE ARRIVED ON TIME (DURING THE 2 HOUR WINDOW THAT THEY GAVE ME). IT WAS A BAD CLOG, BUT TIM WORKED AT IT AND FINALLY GOT THE WATER FLOWING FREELY DOWN THE DRAIN. HE MADE SURE TO CLEAN UP AFTER HIMSELF, AND BEFORE LEAVING HE GAVE ME SOME POINTERS ON HOW TO KEEP MY DRAINS FROM GETTING CLOGGED. I WOULD DEFINATELY USE THAM AGAIN. THESE GUYS PICKED UP THE PHONE ON THE FIRST RING AND RESPONDED WITH "I'LL HAVE SOMEONE THERE WITHIN THE HOUR" AND DELIVERED EXACTLY THAT. THE PLUMBER WAS FRIENDLY AND DID A GREAT JOB, INCLUDING CLEANING UP SOME OF THE MESS THAT I HAD MADE ATTEMPTING TO CLEAR THE DRAIN. HE ALSO GAVE US INSIGHT INTO WHAT MADE OUR DRAIN CLOG, GIVING US SOME PEACE OF MIND. THE PRICE, WHILE PROBABLY A LITTLE HIGH, WAS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS QUOTED ON THE PHONE, SO THERE WERE NO SURPRISES.

 + -1 moreI THOUGHT THEY WERE A LOCAL COMPANY, HERE IN DEDHAM, BUT MY CALL WAS RETURNED FROM SOMERVILLE AND THE MAN WHO PERFORMED THE WORK WAS FROM NORTH REDDING. THE QUALITY WAS GOOD. I FOUND OUT THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED HALF AS MUCH.
