Had to replace an old trap drain with a straight run. The drain flows more quickly and smoothly now. The old trap used to clog up. When this happens the old trap made it difficult to use a snake.

Fran showed up quickly after I called them, figure out right away where the issue was and got his hands dirty pulling out handfulls of what turned out to be mortar, grout, tile pieces & plastic spacers out of the main line's old cast-iron S-trap , that my bathroom renovation contractor's "tiler" flushed down the drain (that's for another review). Fran was quick, professional, and very personable. I know who I'll call for any future drain issues.

Randy was all over the house (3 stories) and figured out everything in great time.

Our tenants complained of a bathroom sick not draining properly. I called Drain Doctor and then sent someone within days of the call. he arrived well within the allotted appointment time, diagnosed and fixed the problem, and was courteous and professional. Would definitely use again.

We were having multiple problems in our new home. We contacted the company and only two days later, we had a plumber in the house. The time was not an issue, since we were not living in the house at the time. He estimated the price before the job. Once looking at the job, it was a little bit more than estimated, but the price did not change. The job took about 3 hours, but he said once it was completed that we should not have any further issues in the house.

This is the 3rd time I've used Drain Doctor and each time I was happy with the service. 'Fran' the service person who performed the service the 2nd and 3rd time, was very pleasant and quick to complete the service. My home is over 60 years old and has old cast iron pipes, and unfortunately I have been told that it is common that the pipes clog up every 1-1/2 -2 yrs.

They are very thorough and prompt. He went outside and pulled the manhole out to check to make sure the town didn't own anything. I liked his professionalism and he explained everything very well. He was polite and was not trying to shaft me. I thought his price was reasonable as well. I would recommend them.

I basically got a quote over the phone for a clogged sink. I had attempted to unclog it myself so I knew it was semi-involved. The technician arrived on time and was very courteous. I explained situation and knew where clean outs were, which helped. Had to use a motorized snake and tap through a pipe. Of course at this point it became clear the renters had poured sap down the drain! The service man shared an even better story about finding a ham bone in a drain once. OMG people!!

They are a very good company. And they have been very fair with the price they have charged.

I called on a Sunday because, to put it delicately, we couldn't use any water in the house or flush the toilet. They came within the hour. The place in the basement he needed to access was covered in all kinds of boxes and heavy things, which he helped me move. He explained everything he was doing, was super friendly and professional. Most importantly, he fixed the problem. I couldn't be happier, and recommend them highly.

They were here for 4 hours. They were wonderful. They had a hard time finding the problem & actually called city hall & had people come down after hours to help resolve the issue. They called another tech in & made sure the problem was taken care of before they left & didn't leave me in a bind! They also were very reasonable about price considering everything they did!

They are located very close to where I stay and are very good. They came right away even though it was on a holiday. They were a little bit more expensive since they came out on the holiday. They were prompt and were able to fix the problem I had. I was really glad they were able to come and take care of it. I would use them again in the future.

Matt spent two days at my house in Somerville, newly rebuilt after a fire over a year ago. He carefully snaked out all the drains leading to the sewer pipe on this second call, and came back a day later to 'camera' the lines looking for blockage. He and another Drain Doc staffer were entirely professional, exceedingly careful but thorough and explained everything as they went along. While I was not happy to have a recurring problem, I was happy that they were so thorough both times and now I have a better understanding of what needs to be done to fix this. Old broken cast iron pipe somehow got into the main sewer line from my house to the city lines. I highly recommend Drain Doctor. They were much better than another well-known company that provides a similar service. Their employees were courteous, efficient and professional.

Not happy. Reporting them to the BBB and warning Angie's listers to stay away... In this economy where has customer service gone?

I like the guy who did it; he looked like a college professor which was unexpected. Having the sewer line blocked wasn’t a good experience, but having him clean it out was good. I had to wash the cellar floor twice when he was done, but that wasn’t entirely his fault. I couldn’t believe it was only $205. He was recommended by our plumber.

They were fine and did a good job. I liked their services and will use the same in future.

They arrived within an hour of making a call, used the right tools to unclog a stubbornly blocked drain in a few minutes. Well done.

Great company -- professional, prompt, because I'm a regular customer they typically charge me the same rates no matter when they come.

We had been problems with several drains leading to drywells (i.e., backing up) for some time. I wasn't sure if they were clogged or the drywells had failed. Drain Doctor answered my call immediately and scheduled an appointment within a few days. Eric arrived on time. He was very professional and determined to find out what the problem was. He went beyond the call of duty and determined that the drywell in front of the house, which was supposed to have been installed by another contractor when the driveway was rebuilt 10 years ago, in fact, did not exist! That contractor had simply buried the drain pipes in the ground. The situation in back was much more complicated, with two downspouts and a patio drain, leading to one or more drywells. It was further complicated by the fact that the drywell(s) may have been under a new patio or an attached apartment. Eric was dogged about trying to figure out what was going on. The next business day (he didn't charge us for the first visit), he brought another team member, Matt, who used a snake on which a camera and radio beacon were attached. Although they were not able to clear the drains, they were able to determine two important things. First, the pipes were all connected, so there was one drywell. Second, they were able to determine the approximate location of the drywell. As a follow-up, in front, I have hired a firm to install the drywell. In back, I was able to observe Drain Doctor using a piece of equipment to attempt to clear the drain. I was able to purchase that piece of equipment (about $70) at a local plumbing supply store and after many treatments over many days was able to get two of the drains cleared, and for the third one I was able to redirect the overflow away from the house. This saved the expense of a drywell in back, which may have included tearing up a new and expensive patio. I cannot emphasize how long and hard Eric (and Matt) worked on figuring out what was going on. They were at the house for many hours, and, in addition to taking the usual steps using the regular equipment, they even spent a lot of time and energy digging holes to get to the root of the problem. Although they were not able to unclog the drains, their diagnostic efforts were very important in pinpointing the problem and, in the case of the rear of the house, saving me a lot of money on a new drywell. They even charged about 10% less than the estimate. If you have a difficult problem, beyond just snaking out a drain, I highly recommend Drain Doctor.

Mark arrived within 1/2 hour of my call. He had to get into an impossibly stuck ancient valve to do the floor-level clean out. You could see that the muck was so thick, It was a wonder that any water had been passing through that drain in the last 35 years for which I've owned this Cambridge home. He spent at least two hours on the first visit, hosing water through as he used the snake with cutter. He went all the way to the street. Because there was another segment of sewage pipe which entered that pipe from the ceiling of the basement, with a hopelessly frozen rusted cap (which I decided I wanted the plumber to saw off), Mark had to come back to finish the job. It took another couple of hours to clear that impacted section, and I wasn't charged anymore than the original $205. For the first time since I bought this house in the 70's, water is draining properly from the downstairs apartment. (I always thought the problem was that the pipes have almost zero inclination.) Mark was great, and I will NEVER NEVER use anyone but Drain Doctor. They are good, inexpensive, fast, effective, polite, informative.

They were able to come within a couple of hours and they were able to clear out the clog finally. It was not a particularly difficult job. They came right when they said they would.

They were very prompt and professional and did excellent work.

Serviceman showed up at the time specified. The work, including "snaking" was done in record time. Both sinks are great now. Serviceman also gave advice on how to avoid future problems.

My wife called at 9:15 this morning and they said they could be here between 10:00 and 12:00. The man showed up at 10 on the dot. He was very friendly. My wife recieved a quote of $140 over the phone but because he didn't have to snake anything it was cheaper. He also showed me how to do the work myself next time which I'm sure will be very helpful with the time comes.

The representative from Drain Doctor came at the very end of the promised time window but was courteous and professional. He examined the drain and concluded that it was actually a dry well drain and not a storm drain. He told us that there was nothing that they could do but he would not charge us for his visit.
