I didn't like that company at all. I gave them a big, big deposit of $74000 and about $10000 worth of work. It took them three months to pull out a permit. He showed up with two laborers. It's an extended family house we're talking about. I have fire. I'm still in legal action into trying to get some of my money back. I do not recommend that company at all. He had three different contracts. It was like a shell game. Once I realized that I signed the contract with him, I was trying to get him to lower the price. I feel totally swindled. The only reason why I gave him the large deposit because he was a good friend of a family. I knew his father. It was the worst possible experience. I do not trust this guy at all. The replacement windows were temporary.

George was fantastic to work with! We had three estimates done. He took the most time by far to look at our property, and was much more thorough in discussing what would need to be done (for instance, pointing out areas where the wood was rotting). Therefore, I was expecting his estimate to be the highest -- but actually, it was about $1000 less. It took about six weeks from the time we signed the contract for him to be able to start the work, but he kept us updated as to how his schedule was looking. It was hard to give us a firm date because so much of his work is outdoors, which of course relies on the weather to be good. When it came time to do the work it was done quickly and very professionally. It took about six days over a week and a half (given that they weren't here on weekends or rainy days). There was no mess and very little disturbance to us, even though we both work from home. As the work progressed, George pointed out several issues that could only be seen once the floorboards had been removed. Fixing them added about $1000 to the cost, but I believe that if we'd gone with one of the other two contractors who hadn't been so thorough with their estimates, we would have had much more additional cost. Communication with George was always very clear and professional -- unlike many other contractors I've worked with! We were never confused about what he was doing or how much it would cost. The only caveat about hiring George is that he is EXTREMELY busy! We were lucky to get him because we are located so close to his home base. I would recommend contacting him at least a year in advance if you can.
