We won't know until next winter if the snow fence works, but we're very happy with the rest of the work. Castle slate diagnosed and fixed a pesky roof leak that we had had for years. Our previous roofer tried to fix it a few times and, though it improved, it was never completely fixed. Since Castle finished up the roof work with us, we have had heavy frequent rains. The roof has been watertight and we are very relieved and pleased. Kevin and crew were very easy to work with, communicative, courteous and tidy. We will be using them again next time the slate roof needs any work, and have recommended them to our neighbors.

Not much to say, except perhaps that the roofers wsere carefuly not to damage plants.

In the quote process, they came and got a ladder and went up the roof, that was better. It's been fine, I can't ask for anything better.

I had originally signed up for Angie's List after our roof leaked following a Nor'easter. I called a few roof contractors with good reviews in the area. While trading messages with Kevin, another contractor had come by to patch the roof. Unfortunately, the problem persisted and the contractor was surprisingly unresponsive so we turned to Castle Slate roofing. They were refreshingly responsive and Kevin's dad demonstrated his expertise and experience as he was able to quickly diagnose the problem (using binoculars from the ground to inspect the roof!). They flexibly accommodated a Saturday job to fix the leak and it has thankfully solved the problem especially after our poor experience with the previous roof contractor.

Everything went perfect. Kevin was responsive to initial call for estimate. He quickly came out to give a detailed and itemized estimate. The price was reasonable. It was easy to follow up with him afterwards. I was planning on a long holiday trip, and Kevin was kind enough to put me on the schedule before my departure so that I won't have to worry about the roof during my trip. He is very pleasant and professional. In short, if you have a slate roof, look no further.

If you have a slate roof, these are the guys to call. No question in my mind. Their price is fair, and they really know what they are doing since they do the work themselves. I spent a few weeks going back and forth with Kevin Sr., getting the quote just right, but he was very patient and gave me good advice regarding the project. His quote was perfect, everything was itemized and explained and he said that I could pick and choose which things to do and when. They showed up to do the work as scheduled, cleaned up after themselves, and left me with a completely refurbished slate roof. I couldn't be happier with their performance and work product.

Kevin and his dad are great. They don't always call you back right away, but they do call you back. They came to look at the roof as scheduled and let me know where they saw issues; they also let me know that we have great Black Munson slate that should last 300 years. They sent the contract over email and followed up by mail. We had a soft start date for the end of October depending on the progress of other jobs and weather and they were able to do the job November 5th. I was pleased as I thought there might be a longer delay due to Superstorm Sandy. They arrived at 8 and got started and did a great job. They also cleaned up really well: taking the leaves out of the gutters while they were at the roof, and they blew the leaves out of the whole driveway, not just the area they were working in. Kevin Jr. was also great with my 3 year old son. They also told me what to watch out for with the new Nor'Easter coming in the next day.

They were excellent and their price was agreeable. I found them on Angie's List.

We looked them up on Angie's List. I didn’t dislike anything. The gentleman's name was Kevin Williams. I called, and he came out and gave me an estimate of what the work was going to be. Because we had a lot of rain, we waited maybe two and a half weeks. We waited a little bit, but the weather was a factor. He didn’t come out the day the work was done, but three other gentlemen came out. They worked for a few hours, they left everything spotlessly clean. There was no extra noise considering that they were on the roof. Then they were gone. We actually asked for a proposal on some other work we needed done if necessary to the roof. They were good.

As stated above, a good overall experience. These will be my go to guys for any future roof work.

Kevin and his team arrived promptly at the agreed-upon time. They were friendly, professional and most importantly, honest about the work that did and didn't need to be done. He took the time to explain what to look for in future maintenance. While this was a small job, I would definitely call Kevin and his team in the future for bigger work.

They were timely, completed the work before moving on to other jobs, and they were fast. The work was done within a week, at most. They cleaned up after themselves, being meticulous about finding all the loose nails around the home and taking care while dismantling the staging. Their work quality was professional and detailed.

Kevin Jr. and Kevin Sr. and their team were very polite and helpful. Every day they updated me on what was planned or called if they were delayed. They worked with us on determining exacting where the snow guards would be placed as they are not pretty and we did not them to be visible from the street. It was an expensive job, but we are hopeful that the problems with ice dams is solved.

I called (4) different roofers after 5pm on Thursday night. Castle Slate was the ONLY one to call back on Friday - and that was to say that he was booked until April 2012! So the guy clearly has plenty of work, but still has the simple courtesy, time, and effort to return a phone call, even just to tie up a loose end and say he's unavailable. FYI, it's now Monday afternoon, and I haven't heard from the other (3), all highly rated on Angie's List...

As someone who has had several bad experiences with other roofers, I will say that Kevin Williams was exemplary in every way. Castle Slate's prices were fair for the quality of the work provided. They also assured me that if I had any difficulty, they'd come right back out. Most importantly, after all the rain we've had since the work was done, not a single leak that Kevin addressed has recurred. I can hardly believe no ceiling stains appear after a heavy rain! I wouldn't use anyone else.

It went very well. They finished well within the window of time they told us. They did not charge for extra materials that were not in the estimate. In terms of professionalism, I would rate them very high. The owner's son was working and they were professional and cleaned up after themselves.

Amazingly excellent experience from start to finish. They were prompt, professional, skilled and concerned about every detail, as if it were their own home. Reminded me of how businesses used to be but no longer are. They are so great you almost feel glad you had a roof problem so you could call them to fix it.

They are the best. The owner is the absolute best. Something was not quite right and he came back fixed it right away. He is highly recommended. For me he is the best of all that I have used. We very rarely see a person take that interest these days. He was very reliable, was neat, and did a good job. I wanted to pay him but he did not take it from me. I rate him a triple A. He even apologized to have come back to check something. He was excellent. A lot of people do not bother. It was easy for him to put the blame on something else. It was very easy for him to deceive me but he did not. He came back twice actually to shovel again. He is above all the companies that we have used so far.

Castle Slate was outstanding in coming back out and working out the problem when some previous fixes did not work, they had to come out 4 different times. They did an excellent job with the re-roofing. I did not even ask to get the gutters cleaned, they just went ahead and did it themselves. I recommend them highly and we have consistently good experiences with them. Roofs are tough to fix and they were very good and responsive in finishing the job. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for. I have no complaints for what was paid for the work.

It was all very smooth. This was a small job for a roofing company. Most of the companies I tried either didn't call back or didn't turn up to quote. Kevin Williams called back every time I needed to contact him. He turned up when he said he would for the quote. He was very pleasant, friendly and professional. I was impressed, and since he is very busy and the leak was very minor I was willing to wait until January to have it fixed. He let me know in advance roughly when he would do the work, then called when he had time and his son came to do the actual job with another craftsman. They were friendly and worked hard and cleared up everything afterwards. The chimney looks great Of course the main thing is the leak and we haven't had heavy rain since, but I'm sure it will be fine. The whole project was easy, relaxed and trouble free. I would definitely use them again.

Professional, responsive and efficient

After a frustrating experience with another roofer (poor communication and canceled appointments), I called Castle Slate. They came out for a quote right away and started the work within weeks. AFTER the job was completed I called for some additional work. They came back within a few days, finished the job, and (seemingly to me) charged less than they should have. Much thanks, guys.

The flatroof has been leaking for a while now but it just got worse from the past storms we had in boston. Previous installer did a half @$$ job on the flatroof which they did not run the rubber under neath the vinyl siding to prevent rain water seeping in from the side. Kevin drafted up a detailed contract of the work he is going to do. Kevin was very prompt with the email response and was able to fit me into his schedule within couple of days. Arrived on time and started working on the roof right away. Kevin and his crew finished the job that same day which he did say he would and he EVEN provided me before and after pictures of the finished roof. They took care of all roofing trash which they took with them. Overall my experience with Kevin and his company went really well. I thank him and his crew for doing such a great job, even provided me pictures which i didnt expect but much appriciate! My future job for Castle Slate Roofing is the the main roof which is in the near future.

I can't speak highly enough about Kevin Williams and the crew at Castle Slate Roofing. I've never had a slate roof before so I didn't know what to look for or expect. Kevin and team were very responsive to my first inquiry. They gave me a detailed proposal and were also clear on what didn't need to be fixed. The cost was quite resaonable, I think. I was equally impressed that they were willing to do the job in my timeframe (I wanted it done in August since I had planned to take the month off from work for medical reasons). Other contractors I had contacted gave me very uninformed proposals and weren't willing to accommodate my schedule. Kevin also inquired and showed care for my medical contion, which shows the character and caliber of the company. Clearly, that care was equally evident in their work. I will certainly call them back if I need work done on my roof in the future.
