My phone call was returned immediately even though it was after hours on a Friday. I was able to turn my water off but he knew I was anxious and came to fix it the following Monday. He was very nice and professional. He also checked some other items for me which took awhile including inspecting my upstairs neighbor's area to check for a possible cause for a different link but yet, didn't charge me for the extra time he spent doing this. I would definitely call him again for assistance.

Initial phone contact was clear and helpful. Very patient with scheduling. Michael was friendly, knowledgable, and did the work well and quickly. Very much appreciated!

They were quick to respond to my message and scheduled the repair within a few days, understanding that we could not afford to have our water heater fail before the weekend. It turned out our old water heater was still under warranty, so they were able to install the new one mostly for the cost of labor/disposal. After Mike installed the water heater, he realized he had not checked to see if the boiler pilot light had automatically re-lit, and rather than waiting for me to come home to a cold house, he let me know that he'd have to get back into the house to check. It meant I had to come home again, but I appreciated the dedication to the job to make sure everything was all set!

Great. Lynda from the office was very polite and even offered some quick troubleshooting tips. When Mike Allen came he was very professional and friendly. Listened to my description of the problem and then got to diagnosing the cause. In the end it was a simple fix. He didn't try to make it bigger than it was. Definitely will call again for future plumbing needs.

After the 2017/2018 cold snap, seemingly half of Boston was without heat and the plumbers/heating folks were completely overwhelmed. We called a dozen people -- most of them wouldn't come at all. The ones who *did* come were either clueless or were hucksters who wanted to sell us a completely new system. (To be clear, this is a 13 year old boiler with an expected lifespan of 30 years.) Allen made time to come out to us, after hours, and correctly identified the problem as the build-up of carbon in the combustion chamber. He pulled the whole system apart, cleaned it, and reassembled it and it's worked beautifully ever since. All for about a tenth the price that some others wanted to replace the whole system.

Michael was ontime and very professional. He kept me abreast of issues as they arose.

Interactions with owner, customer service (a very responsive person), and technician who did the installation were more than satisfactory. It was a pleasure.

Can't say enough good things about Allen Plumbing. Working with Lori to coordinate schedule and work is a pleasure; they coordinate directly with tenants to take care of everything behind the scenes. Frequent updates, timely communication via email (my preference), take credit cards. I wish every vendor I dealt with was so on-the-ball.

Fine. Both Mike, the plumber, and Bobby, the electrician who came to install another pump, were friendly and efficient.

Michael patiently explored all the options and pros/cons of each option to solve our problem of not enough hot water for a growing family. After we settled on a solution, Michael ordered the parts, scheduled a day, turned up on time and was done within the day with almost no disruption and leaving the place cleaned up. Professional in every respect.

It was a last minute repair and I really appreciated them having someone available on a Friday evening to do the replacement. They came at the time they promised. Everything was done professionally and there was no problem after that.

Plumber was very nice and professional seems to have done a good job. Cost of job was probably a mere four times would it should have been.

The person who answered the phone did all the troubleshooting. Super kind and helpful, and waited on the line while I went through each step. I rarely see service this good.

Horrible, technician showed up. Turned on water and said "yep, your right" . He then told me the cost would be "a little over $400". This is outrageous! I bought the $48 part myself at Home depot and it then took me about 35 minutes to change the valve. $400 IS OUTRAGEOUS FOR THIS SIMPLE REPAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Technician then tried to get $50 for the service fee, which I originally agreed to when i made the appointment, but refused to pay as this was a very violating experience!

They were excellent every step of the way from measuring, helping me choose and coming in to do the work. Fine service like this is very hard to find. They have great follow through and great communication. The fixtures they recommended were expensive but that's what I wanted. I recommend them highly.

The plumber that Allen sent over, LB, was courteous and on time and the job appears to have been well done. The office staff are terrific and very responsive. Yes, my kitchen faucet was expensive but in plumbing I think you get what you pay for. I'd rather spend more and have the work done well then go the other way which can end up costing more in the long run. I am moving forwards with other projects in the near future and hope they all go as well. Sometimes, when they are very busy, there are delays on getting call backs but that is to be expected. I will report back after I have had more work done by them. I am waiting to hear back from them now on a serious sewer pipe issue and plan to replace a bathroom sink and toilet soon.

See above. Dispatcher and technician very responsive, even when I was hard to reach during the day...they really worked to get it done.

We woke up on a Sat morning to a 40 degree house. Our house is a huge historic house and our elderlyish, but previously reliable heating system was off. I was able to kick-start it again by what magic, I'm not sure, but it would go off again after a short period of time. One final effort resulted in it working again, it took forever to get the house warm. I had called my usual very reliable plumber, but he was out of town and his partner in the hospital. I read reviews and decided to call Allen Plumbing, which was the absolutely right thing to do. He called back immediately, told us what time he could get there and did. He knew about these older boilers, what had gone wrong, went to his store, returned with the parts and installed them with no fuss at all. We are relieved and grateful. This is definately a guy to call if you have an older home.

My heating system went out overnight due to the extreme cold and, when I was unable to restart the system, I telephoned Allen Plumbing to see if they could make a service call. Luckily, I was finally able to get the system restarted on my own. However, just as I was about to call them back to let them know that I didn't need their services, a gentleman from Allen Plumbing returned my original call. His call came within a half hour of my original voicemail message. Given their responsiveness, I will definitely use them in the future for plumbing work.

I was given a long talk about how the company "does not go down that road" of coming out to give quotes on heating systems (???). They said they don't give out estimates over the phone, and I said I didn't want that,!! (who would expect such a thing anyway?) I reiterated that what I wanted is for someone to come to our home to give us options and prepare a proposal. The woman started to give me some story about how other companies might give us a proposal and then there would be hidden costs, but that they (Allen) would just quote on very specific work. I said, that's what the other companies have given me! (I failed to understand this logic or reasoning). I finally said, "obviously you don't want the work, so I'm just going to move on. Thank you." The woman thanked me, then we hung up, This was one of the most convoluted and bizarre conversations I've ever had. Major disappointment, considering that they advertise that they provide new heating systems (see "services include" section on Angie's List profile). Do not consider this company if you are a potential new client who expects them to come to your home for an estimate on a new heating system.

I was advised of the known up front costs over the phone. I was given a quote for the diagnosing when the unit was visually seen by the tech. They were done within a few hours. The tech was able to get to the root of the problem as well as suggest a few things to prevent the problem in the future. I really appreciated the extra attention given to showing us how to perform basic safety checks on our own. Couldn't recommend these guys enough!

I spoke to lori she provided great guidance, provided great followup and sent someone who was the first available. Though there were some challenges they were able to get in and replace everything all in an afternoon.

Great experience all around. Laurie was great to work with to schedule the appointment at a time that worked for my schedule and followed up to confirm the day before and the morning of the appointment. The plumber was prompt, courteous and professional and was in and out in no time. I'd highly recommend them.
