+ -1 moreBEWARE of Marc DiVerdi, Owner/Operator of FIREPLACE REFITTER, Shrewsbury, MA. He's an unlicensed contractor who ripped us off big time. We hired Marc to install a woodburning stove insert into a space that was housing a regular fireplace. Marc tore out our fireplace, installed a woodburning stove, and we couldn?t pass inspection. The manufacturer?s installation instructions clearly state that the woodstove must be installed in a masonry fireplace, which we don?t have. The building inspector told us that the installation put us at risk for burning our house down. We had paid Marc $10,372 representing a 1/3 deposit and another 1/3 at the start of the project. We didn't pay him the remainder because the project was rendered a fire hazard; therefore, not completed. Marc refused to remediate this problem; he just took our money and ran. After taking Marc to small claims court, he did repay some of the money we had given him.
Description of Work: Fireplace Refitter installed a woodburning stove insert and completely disregarded the installation instructions. He left us with a woodburning stove the building inspector deemed to be a fire hazard.

+ -1 moreHe was absolutely fabulous. He is very polite and very professional. He came out in the middle of a snow storm with an estimate. He called me at couple of weeks after the estimate just to make sure we were still on track. I would highly recommend to him anybody. I would use him again.
Description of Work: I used Fireplace Re-Fitter in December. He rebuild the whole stove and cleaned it everything.

My "NEW DESIGN" is the patent pending conversion of o-clearance [sheet metal] fireplace into energy efficient, clean burning,center pieces using the stove of your choice at great savings to the customer. I reuse what is there which can be done in a day with no waste filling up the land fills. The stoves are sold a whole sale prices.
