+ -1 moreEasy to deal with. We had some last minute changes that we knew would effect the price and were very pleased when re-quoted. Working with them to hammer out the details resulted in a design that was better than we asked for at first. From time of contact to time of final inspection was outstanding. Now we get to enjoy our new outdoor space all season. I would not hesitate to include them on a short list of contractors you get quotes from. Its now been about a month with tons of rain and heat and the deck looks great and sheds the water the way a deck should. All in all end to end we could not have been more pleased.
Description of Work: Constructed a new larger deck replacing and old small deck. We went Pressure Treated and the wood they used was of high quality. I am very demanding on ensuring proper permits, structural quality and general workmanship is maintained and was not disappointed on any account. I was home most of the time for the construction. They worked clean and showed quite a bit of experience evidenced by the very efficient and effective way the deck was built. They are extremely customer satisfaction driven and all involved were friendly and cared about their work. If I would call or e-mail the response was very quick, often if there was a concern they just came and modified as I requested without question. Did I say the deck came out great !!!!

+ -1 moreThe price they quoted was double of what other people gave me. So I'm not bothering to pursue them. They were very polite and very accommodating. They were there on time. Everything else was great but the price was double of everybody else. I called them back to check the reason why the price was so high and he basically stood by it. I found their price very high. I would not contact them in the future because I would assume their price would be double of everybody else.
Description of Work: I got a quote from FixItForU2. I did not use their services. They came out may be two weeks ago to give me the quote. They were going to remodel a bathroom for me. The price included labor, to reface the bathroom and to replace the tiles.

+ 0 moreWe paid about $4000 for the porch. He did a good job on that. He worked hard and showed up everyday. He got the job done in the time frame as he thought he would. He was flexible when he ran into problems. He told us what was going on and communicated well. The porch looks good. He did a second job for us, but we weren’t happy with that. He did a good job for us on the first one, but he didn’t do a good job on the second one. I don’t think he knew what he was doing when he installed the storm doors for us.
Description of Work: FixItForU2 rebuilt our porch in October and Nir Davidson is the person we dealt with. He also installed some storm doors for us later on.

He arrived on time, worked doggedly and without break to accomplish the assembly. It looked like a nightmare with all those pieces. But at all times Nir was calm, courteous and professional. He met his deadline and indeed it cost just what he said it would. He e-mailed me the invoice and I sent a check right away. It could not have gone smoother. Nir was awesome!

He arrived on time to our first meeting and was extremely courteous and professional. He provided an estimate shortly thereafter that we felt was very reasonable. Nir was able to start work quite quickly. He again showed up on time and was extremely clean and conscientious of our condo. He completed all the work and noted a few areas where additional work was necessary. We have been very satisfied with all of his work and would hire him again for any small or large job.

Description of Work: He did several unfinished projects for me. He finished installing my hardwood floor, removed laminate countertops and leveled them, replaced a bi-folding closet, did framework on my garage, and put-up new aluminum siding. Once the granite countertops were installed, he came-back and put in the faucets.

+ 2 moreUnfortunately, the problem was far larger than just removing pieces of drywall, patching, and repainting. Due to extensive water damage from insulation that had retained water inside the wall, Nir had to remove the entire wall on the first and basement levels of my home, including moldy insulation, which he did and called to let me know that was what needed to be done. He left the area very clean and put up plastic to contain the space, which was extremely helpful and made it possible to live with the situation. At that point, I had some decisions to make about more extensive repairs and I moved to using a General Contractor for that. I would highly recommend NIr for jobs that do not require a GC.
Description of Work: Nir gave me a quote for patching and painting dry wall that had been damaged by water and redoing the fencing and deck in my backyard. His prices were reasonable and Nir was very responsive. The backyard I'm going to leave for another time, but Nir did get started on the drywall in my home.

We also appreciated his attention to the odd jobs that we had neglected and his commitment to painting the exterior of our home in the scorching heat.
Description of Work: Nir re-tiled our bathroom floor, repainted our bathroom trim, painted a section of the exterior of our home in addition to other odd jobs like fixing a screen door that came unhinged and replacing a broken garage door window.

+ 1 moreHe was very responsive and polite, almost to a fault. We needed to have a lot of odds and ends repaired and places to be repainted, especially our front porch. His approach, which we knew from his web site, was to be paid for the hours worked, and not provide an estimate for the entire job. Overall, we were satisfied with his work, with only 2 complaints: we were under time pressure to get a lot of work done, and admittedly didn't give him much notice, but he did promise that our job would be finished by a certain time, which turned out not to be the case. Secondly, the paint job in certain places was messy (drips etc. which I had to clean up) which we suspect was due to his assistant and not being able to supervise him carefully enough. In the end he gave us a discount on our job. Having said all that, the ceiling work turned out well (and he brought in a plaster specialist/friend to help him with this), and the repairs turned out well. He was professional and courteous, and we would use him again. The reasons for not giving him an 'A' for professionalism was due to over-promising and some sloppiness with the paint job.
Description of Work: Prepared our home for an open house - painting, touchups, repairs: drywall, baseboard and moulding, ceiling.

+ 4 moreAbove I factually described what he and his guys did. However, I have saved the best for last. Aside from Nir’s efficiency, ability to manage workers, and attention to detail, he has the gift of magical details. Using left over fence pole segments, Nir built a beautiful bench. After observing my 4 year old daughter’s distress with “baby swings,” Nir built two wooden swings – one long and one short. Of course, he reused the chains from the original swings. For me and my husband, he ran wide wooden planks around the bottom of the fort. These benches allow us to have “picnics” without getting muddy grass stains. In other words, he learned how each family member would use the garden and then made thoughtful accommodations. Nir even programmed the timer on my automatic sprinklers. Lastly, he ran the street facing stockade fence **through** the branches of the Japanese Maple tree. He pulled off several planks, cut a graceful hole to accommodate the branches; and then put up the planks back up. It looks like the tree grew through the fence. Aesthetically, we enjoy the tree when pulling up into the driveway. On the other side, the girls read under it’s shade. And that’s what this summer will be about – kids playing on the swings and reading under a tree. I strongly recommend Nir Davidson.
Description of Work: My eight year old daughter declared, “Mom, you are not going to get grass until I am in college and you are old!” We live in Roslindale. Before the project, we had a small, dumpy, weedy, poison-ivy infested lot, a garage with peeling paint, and no secure area for our labradoodle to frolic (without escaping). Now we have a jewel of a hideaway with a swing set, a custom made reading bench, a flower bed, green grass, and a dog run. In five days, Nir Davidson and his crew did the following: Cleared out the detritus; laid down weed block, spread five yards of dirt; applied fertilizer; laid out 400 square feet of sod; built an 8 ft by 2 ft vegetable bed; and installed 32 linear feet of stockade fencing that blocked off the poison ivy which was growing from another neighbors property. I am happy to report that our grass is still lush green because of Nir’s custom irrigation system. He plumbed a new spigot through the house’s foundation; dug a narrow trench (and cemented over) to lay down piping under the driveway; installed sprinklers in four corners of the lawn and tested the sprinklers for the volume and direction of the water spritz. Nir also installed a drain running under the garden to draw off the water build up that used to turn into a stagnant mosquito haven in the summer and a treacherous ice field in the winter. The yard is edged with 4 by 4 lumber. One day into the project, it was clear that the garage needed to be painted. Instead, Nir suggested that we use the left-over 7 ft long cinnamon colored cedar siding shingles from our house. Not only was this the right aesthetic decision, it also was more time/cost effective. He shingled the garage in only 7 hours! Painting the garage would have taken at least twice as long. Nir located a used, wooden Creative Playthings play structure taking into consideration the small footprint of the lawn and the short distance between the fence and the garage. On the other side of the garage, he and his guys laid down weed block, spread out 5 cubic yards of woodchips, installed a stockade fence around the perimeter, and built a swing door out of extra fencing to prevent the dog’s escape.

+ 5 moreFabulous! I emailed him one night, he called me the next day in work and came over that nigh to look at it. The following night I had an estimate emailed to me.I was still waiting for an estimate from another contractor that had looked at my bathroom weeks ago. When I decided I wanted him to do the job he said he would be able to start in a couple of weeks. He actually offered to go with me while I picked some things out so I met him at the store. He took down the model #s of the items I picked out so he could pick them up and spent at least 1 hour with me there. Very patient professional. I was thinking of just getting new doors for the large closet area something more modern just to make it look nice on the outside. I waited 15 years to do this because of debt holding me back and now want my whole house done. He worked fast and was neat. I am at some point going to have him put hardwood floors down for me next. Slowly but surely as money allows us to. I honestly cannot see myself using anyone else in the future. His prices are great the work is great and he can do everything right down to replacing storm doors. I feel that he is honest. You can always,always, get in touch with him no voice mail or unreturned calls. It turned out to be a not too painful, (giving up a shower briefly) experience to a good experience with a great outcome. Anytime I go into the bathroom I cannot believe it is the same room. Thank you Angies list and Nir.
Description of Work: I have a small full bath upstairs still in the 70's style. More or less gutted the bathroom except 2 walls. Everything new and installed tub surround not flimsy, with cut out needed for window inside tub area. I didn't want to lose the window. He didn't think he had to touch the outside of the house because the window would be the same size but because of the frame around the whole window he had to take shingles off outside and actually saved them to put back on. New tub, new window double hung as opposed to the crank out that was old and could not be cleaned. All new shower head etc new toilet, sink, faucets, vanity light, had ceiling fan/light installed hopefully will stop mold problems I had. New tile floor had old mosaic cement type tiles previously, new trim. Walls trim, ceiling and door painted. I have a closet or opening along one whole wall that the previous owner put in for a linen closet. Very big but ugly, particle board shelves one large door that swung out in the middle into the middle of the bathroom so you could not move once it was opened. He ended up not liking that idea he wanted it to be nice cabinet.( I didn't think I could afford it) We went out again one Saturday and looked at our options. He paid attention to the prices of things so as not to cost me a fortune. We found the perfect beautiful replacement that he managed to fit into where the old closet was and put new trim up. It is beautiful! I waited 15 years to do this and now want my whole house done. The few days of not showering in the morning and showering at the gym at night was well worth it.

The bathroom remodel transformed a tired bathroom and although there were some unforeseen snags along the way (not Nir's fault), the finished project was great and on budget. Nir did this project himself. The shingles look terrific. The work was done meticulously and the finished product is beyond our expectations. Nir did use some additional workers for this project, but he was on site everyday and supervised their work. Everyone was easy to work with and communicative.
Description of Work: Nir completed several jobs for us. He remodeled a bathroom (including new tile on the floor, new vanity, new medicine cabinet, regrouting old tile on the walls and replastering a wall). He also reshingled the exterior of our home with new cedar shingles.

The work he did was great...the wall is well integrated with the existing room and our barn doors open, close and lock like new! The posts in garden were exactly what we wanted. We would definitely call him again for jobs big and small.
Description of Work: Nir built a partition in our workshop (i.e., a half-wall running from floor to ceiling). He also repaired old barn doors that were falling off the hinges and no longer working. Finally, he installed fence posts around our garden (we are going to put up the fencing ourselves).

I described what I wanted to store on my deck and he designed and made a weather proof enclosed unit with shelves that fits the space perfectly and does the job. One project was to clean my deck. Unasked, and much appreciated, he also cleaned a wooden glider on the deck. I had a long list of projects that Nir completed in one day. He arrived with all the materials he needed and worked very efficiently until all the work was done. He left a very clean and orderly site and a very satisfied customer.

Description of Work: We needed the bathroom painted, and its tile floor replaced. We also had a couple of closet doors that required minor repair. In addition, we had a few minor carpentry jobs done inside the house (beverage cooler frame) and outside (deck railing paint and reinforcement).
