I can't imagine a better experience with a landscaper! Brett has a formal education in horticulture, as well as 20 years of experience in gardening and landscaping. He is also an artist. My front yard was loaded with overgrown, boring plants, with no color other than green and white, and a very dated lay out. I had a general plan for revising my front yard, and told Brett what types of plants and colors I like and gave him my general goals -- easy maintenance, four season interest, lots of color, maintaining privacy, etc. Brett is very down to earth, respectful and easy to work with; he had no problem with the fact that I had my own vision; he tweaked it appropriately and within about a weak, presented a specific landscape design that included a long list of plants he planned to use. He went over each plant selection with me, describing it's characteristics and the role it would play in creating the garden I desired. He dealt beautifully with certain challenges, such as steeply sloped areas. He and his crew arrived exactly when he said they would and got to work in earnest, implementing the design just as I expected, and at an incredible pace! I felt like had realized my fantasy of being on HGTV's "Curb Appeal", having a beautiful front-scape materialize before my eyes! And his price was so reasonable! I appreciated that Brett was respectful of my budget and that he proposed transplanting some of my previously unwanted plants to other, barren parts of my property that I also wanted landscaped. They look great in their new location. Brett is lovely to work with, completely professional, fair, honest, efficient, and he knows exactly what he's doing. I've just given him another list of projects and I'm looking forward to the results.

This was a disaster on several fronts. We have an antique house located on a small urban lot. During the fall and winter construction was done on our kitchen, we were not living in the house and were not able to adequately do fall cleanup. In April I contacted Bret Roberts who does work on my neighbor's yard. I was hoping for a cleanup of leaves, some tree branches, perhaps some trimming and a regular maintenance contract. He said that he would be able to do the job in the latter part of May and that he would consult his schedule. Nothing happened, he did not contact us, and when he was called about a schedule he was grumpy, rude, and unresponsive. Weeks went by, and I began to think about finding another landscaper. Then suddenly he appeared early in the morning at the very end of May. I was eating breakfast and by the time I got dressed and outside he had already performed a severe pruning on a Japanese Maple tree that we had planted three years before. We did not want this done, the tree was a screen between our house and the next door house. My wife, who was very attached to the tree, was devastated when she realized the damage done. The rest of the clean-up was very harsh leaving bare ground everywhere. When I got the bill, I was astonished at the amount, nearly $600. You can see by his description above what was done in a very small urban lot (4,500 sq ft, including the house). The main problem with this company is communication. Bret did not tell us when he was coming or what he was going to do. If you don't care what is done or when or how much it costs you might hire East Side Landscape. Otherwise not.
