Will continue working with Dave.
Description of Work: Dave has done a variety of projects for me over the past six months. He gets back to you in a timely manor, does quality work and does not leave a mess behind. My projects involved working in very old, historic homes and involved a good amount of expert knowledge and skill. Dave delivers.

Dave was helpful and professional on the phone and was available within a week of calling. He spent about 6 hours completing all of the above work. Dave showed up on time, was very knowledgeable and professional and NEAT. He protected the floors beneath each installation and even wiped up the floor when he was done! I thought the price was very fair for the time and amount of work done. Nice guy.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 dimmer switches, two 3 way switches, and an overhead light. Installed box for another overhead light and installed electrical for new light over vanity (attached both lights). Two new dedicated circuits to box. Installed 3 new outlets. Changed an outlet to gfci. I provided most of the switches and fixtures and Dave provided about $100 worth of wire and breaker switches and other materials (remaining charge was labor).

I couldn't have had a better experience. Not only was Dave personable and punctual, he installed the new outlet AND moved my dryer across the basement. He also vented the dryer so it was ready to go. With three small children in the house, he really went above and beyond the call of duty to make my life easier. On top of that, he charged me $60 which seemed like such a bargain compared to what I had paid electricians in the past. I will never call another electrician after working with Dave.
Description of Work: I purchased a new clothes dryer and when the appliance was delivered, the delivery team informed me that my current outlet didn't have enough amps to accomodate the new dryer. I called Dave to install a new outlet. Since the new outlet was necessary, I asked Dave to put it on a different wall, halfway across the basement.

David was very prompt in returning my phone call and explained to me that he was in the middle of a job but would stop by as soon as possible. He called 2 days later while I was at work but my wife was able to meet him and show him the work we had requested. He walked throughout the house and in the basement looking for access points and to get a feel for the job. He said it would be a couple days before he could start, we said that was fine seeing there was no hurry to have the work completed. Dave called me 10 days after the initial visit to schedule time to start the job, and he showed up at 9 AM as promised. After meeting him for the first time in person I felt very confident with his professional demeanor and his knowledge of what needed to be done. The job was very messy and time-consuming yet David never became frustrated and when we hit problems trying to snake the wall he would try another method. On the first day he completed three outlets and the remaining four the following day as well as switching out the defective outlets on first floor. David cleaned up every room, vacuuming or sweeping as needed, and thoroughly tested all his work. My wife and I are both completely satisfied with the work that David performed and the final cost. I would not have any problem recommending David for electrical work. In fact will be calling him to work on some upgrades to the second floor shortly.
Description of Work: I called David to see if he could upgrade the wiring in a third floor apartment for a tenement house I own/occupy. My house is over 100 years old and there were only two circuit breakers for that apartment. My tenant was constantly tripping the circuit due to power surges while using the air conditioner or microwave. I wanted to have new power outlets in the bedroom, 2 new outlets in the kitchen, 2 new outlets in the spare room, and 2 new outlets in the living room. I also had loose outlets on the first floor apartment that were unusable.

I called David last night after finding him here on Angie's List - he happened to have time this afternoon - and as planned, he called after his 1st job and then came right over. This in itself amazed me! He quickly and neatly completed the 'change-outs' at my house. I then talked to him about another (larger) electrical problem/project I have and he was very thorough, and knowledgeable about getting all the information to give me an estimate. Which he said he could get to me later this week or weekend. Then he followed me to my mother's house, where he (again) quickly and neatly changed her doorbell system. he explained what he thought caused the problem and showed me exactly what he meant.. very knowledgeable and willing to explain it to me (which I liked a lot). Throughout this entire process he was very honest, kind, considerate (my pets were being a bit of a pain- he was great with them!) and personable, chatting while he worked. I would not hesitate to hire him again and will recommend him to all my family and friends!!
Description of Work: David changed out 2 electric sockets in my home & replaced a doorbell 'system' - (the bell & the transformer) at my mother's home 3 blocks away.

Dave is a real nice guy. He shows up on time and is responsive to phone calls. He is also a very skilled electrician. My realtor gave me his number after we bought our house. She told me that once she arrived late for an appointment with him at her house because of a snowstorm and he had shoveled her entire sidewalk while he was waiting. This is just the kind of person Dave is. I would recommend him for whatever project you have.
Description of Work: We have had Dave do several small repairs in our old house including putting in new outlets and wiring and installing wall sconces.

I called David Charron to make an appointment. He came, exactly when he said he would, and assessed the problem with my ceiling fan. It needed a new command module. He ordered the part, then returned 10 days later, when the part came in to the distributor. He installed the part, repairing the fan. He then repaired two other problems with my electrical system that had been pointed out by a home inspector. The main panel was wired wrong and we had an open junction box in the attic. He charged me a straight hourly rate and did not "mark up" the part. He was pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. I would certainly refer him to anyone needing electrical work.
Description of Work: My 10 year old Casablanca ceiling fan was not working properly.

David did extensive electrical work for us. He was in my home for 6 days. Our home was built in 1914. Although the wiring had been updated, the outlets were few and far between. The ones we had were so old they weren't polarized. The few newer ones had reverse polarity. In addition, we couldn't use our coffee maker and run the microwave at the same time without tripping the circuit breakers. We had the same problem if I used my hair dryer with the microwave. The job was difficult because my basement is finished and the walk-up attic had a wood floor. The house also had blown insulation work within the past five years. So David had lots of drilling and snaking of wires to do to add all these additional outlets. One of the outlets that I did have on the second floor ran up the outside of the house due to the difficulties with actually installing new outlets (done by previous owner). David installed or updated a total of 22-25 outlets (the majority of these were installs requiring placement/drilling, etc.). He changed the outlet that was running up to my bedroom externally to an internal outlet. We have to use window air conditioners and he made sure that the outlets for the air conditioners were 220. (While he was here we realized we couldn't put an air conditioner in the space we initially designated, and David was willing to wire one of the other outlets for this purpose after the fact.) Many of these outlets were very tricky to place. His ability to figure out where in the house he was and where the outlets needed to go (by looking at the basement ceiling and walls (!) was really amazing. Same in the attic. I just don't know how he pulled some of this stuff together. In addition to this work, David installed a ceiling fan in one bedroom. He added flood lights outside, changed a flood light outside to a more decorative light and added a subpanel in the attic to feed the outlets on the second floor. I know this work was difficult because I had had a few other electricians come in an evaluate the work needed and provide estimates. Everyone was okay with the work on the first floor, although the finished basement made this a little problematic. However, most of the time the electricians looked at me like I had two heads when they realized what I was asking for on the second floor. They all remarked that they were going to have to drill holes in the attic floor, and how hard it was going to be to get wires down. Most wanted some type of open-end estimate because "they just didn't know what they were going to run into." Honestly, they didn't instill confidence. David also stated the job was challenging. However, he made it clear he could do it and we worked out the details regarding time/hours. He talked to me about what was happening, any difficulties he was encountering, etc. He did all the work I asked him to do and a few other things that popped up along the way. He is a very good-natured man who takes pride in his work. He made sure to have drop clothes so as not to track dirt into my house when this was an issue. He vacuumed up after his work each day. I'm sure I haven't covered it all. In addition, David came to give me an estimate on the job after a long day's work one Friday night. He ended up spending several hours because there was something wrong with a basement light in the laundry area and I couldn't do laundry after dark. He was taking the next week off, so he stayed until he found and fixed the issue with the basement light (there was something funky going on with the light that I can't explain). David's prices were fair and reasonable. His work is exceptional. In my opinion, you get more than what you paid for!!! David will be returning to my home to do some other work. I will always call him if I ever have electrical needs. I have already recommended him to individuals as well as organizations. I recommend him wholeheartedly and without reservation.
Description of Work: Replace/update 22-25 outlets (majority were new installs), install ceiling fan, fix light fixture, install outside flood lights, install subpanel in attic, put microwave on separate breaker, fix outside light

We were very pleased with David's work. He was very responsive, professional, and quick. When he came to look at things to give us and estimate, he even fixed a couple of things (that he thought might be dangerous) right on the spot, for no charge. He was a pleasure to work with.

Overall I was impressed with Dave's service. He came and quoted the job a couple of days after I contacted him. He was helpful and not pressuring at all as I asked him about what my various options were for the upgrade. After I gave him the go ahead, that I wanted to do the work, he was at my house in about a week. He worked quickly, thoroughly and efficiently. He didn't get annoyed when I asked lots of questions as well. He pointed out to me several sketchy setups in my electrical system that he found along the way, which I appreciated. The electrical service in my house was a real mess, with a hodge-podge of four different fuse boxes. He did a nice job of tidying up the area as he installed the circuit breaker box. He cleaned up all the residual mess.
Description of Work: Updated electrical service in my house to 100 Amp (from 45 Amp), including the stringer on the side of my house. Converted from fuses to breakers.

Dave was friendly and very personable. He listened to what my needs were and really came through - he also was a straight talker and tried to save me money where he could. Dave doesn't cut any corners. He's very thorough. Dave also cleans up after his work is done, which I can't say was the case with my other contractors. Given my experience with a previous bathroom renovation, I can Dave's rates were pretty average, but the quality or work was top notch - even the inspector thought so.
