We originally hired this contractor as we knew someone currently using them and at the time that their house was being worked on, the work seemed good and they had no issues with the contractor (which in the end didn't turn out well for these people as they had similar issues with this contractor). Unfortunately, once we hired him to do some work, he left that job site unfinished and began working on ours. We had some remaining remodeling projects around the house that we didn't have time for having a newborn at home so we hired Zach to finish the last remaining projects. Perhaps it was the lack of sleep of having a 2 week old but now looking back on the quality of work, we never would have allowed things to pass our inspection. I would never recommend him and am highly disappointed with their quality of work. We purchased majority of the items he needed ourselves: tile, grout, cabinets, kickboards, paint, railing spindles, etc. so he wasn't making many purchases out of his own pocket, however, he seemed very concerned with money and requested the remainder of the amount be paid even though the work wasn't even half way done. Below is our comments on a few of the items he worked on for us: We hired him to install a couple cabinets in our kitchen, install kickboards around all cabinets, install handles on all cabinets, tile the backsplash, install hood over oven, install a new railing on our staircase, replace a backdoor threshold. Installation of kitchen cabinets and handles - overall they look like they were done well, considering that our house was built in 1900 and no walls or floors are particularly level. Installation of handles went fine, however, one of our handles was scratched and Zach said he'd go to the store and swap out for us. He then told me they wouldn't let him exchange it and that scratched handle went missing. Backdoor threshold - Terrible. He should have removed the old threshold and installed a new metal/solid wood threshold but instead he used an indoor threshold and stapled it over the existing outdoor threshold. I could have done that myself and he should have done it correctly. Railing - Sloppy, told me the railing only had to be a certain height despite my own research proving him wrong. Overall, he seemed friendly but it turned out that he wasn't a very honest person and based on his lack of punctuality and responsiveness and quality of work, I would not recommend him.

Description of Work: He took a deposit of $1,000.00 for a $2.000 project (stripping wallpaper and painting the room). Never came when he said he would-he promised to have it completed in two to three days-I had to hire someone else as he never showed up when he said he would-always an excuse. He was sub contracting for a very good company, NE Moulding and would have his own projects when not working for them. I thought he would have the same ethics etc has this company. I was sadly mistaken and paid twice for the same job as it was never even really started-maybe 6 hours of work performed at most. Shame on me--Saw him on Angie's list after the fact--same type of review.

Owner underbid job and overbooked himself. All things I could have lived with if he had re-scheduled us to finish the work in an appropriate manner. He was rarely on site after the demo of our porch and the installation of the concrete footings. His guys while friendly were never on time and made countless mistakes including railing systems not to code, boards not nailed in correctly, un-even router and mitre cuts and nails and screws up to 4 inches in length use to install lattice which are now creating a serious hazard underneath the porch. The stone planters that were built has rocks falling out, and the worst part was the lying. He convinced us to pay him in full early since he had underbid the job and from that point on he never showed up to do the finish work and his workers did a lousy job. We would get calls that he was coming and he wouldn't show and then would say he got caught in traffic. He also used his upcoming wedding as an excuse. We finally terminated him from the job, have since hired a new carpenter to do the finish work, and a mason to correct the stone planters. Luckily the new carpenter was able to fix our stair railings in order for the inspector to sign off on the project. The rails were not installed in line with the edge of the first step nor were the railing grippable (2 well known code points by other contractors). This has been one of the worst experiences I've had and 2 to 3 items in the contract were actually never completed despite payment in full. We will be seeking restitution through legal channels.
Description of Work: Hired to completely tear down and rebuild large farmers porch and some demo of old concrete in back yard. Services included demo, installation, and carpentry.
