Woodward Fence & Supply Corp.

We hired Woodward Fence after receiving two other estimates. Lou Woodward's was the lowest, but not by much, but we liked him and because he is very local and had done other fences in the neighborhood and received good reviews on Angie's List, we hired him. He was more than 3 weeks late starting the project but we weren't worried about it. When they did come, they removed the old fencing which was quite a project and took a day longer than expected. That was fine, too. They put in the new fence which looks really good overall and we were quite happy with it except for a couple of little things that are still not resolved to this day. One of which is that the driveway gate had to have 2 poles to stabilize both sides when it was opened (to allow the car in and out) and only one pole was put in. They eventually came back after being reminded but put in a much shorter pole on the other side which does not, in fact, hold the gate open (they are self-closing). So we have lived with this for several months even though I called to complain that it was the wrong size and didn't work. No response. The other item that has gone unaddressed is the hole they were to leave for a granite post. The post was not delivered while they were here because the saw wasn't working. By the time the saw worked, the fence was installed and everyone was gone. I tried digging the hole myself but ran into concrete that they had poured for one of the fence poles by a gate and did not leave enough depth or space for a 7" granite post. The workers installing the fence had discussed with me where the post would go and how much space to leave. I called Woodward and asked them to come by and fix it but have neither heard from them nor seen them. By the time I realized no one was coming to fix anything, I felt pretty disgusted with them. Two small but critical items to finishing the job went undone. And so I have to hire someone else. Not happy with that.

Fence - good. Service horrible. Could not reach them to schedule. Then they just showed up one day unannounced and started. Crew was terrible. Did not ask to use hose and then left hose dripping. Left a hidden pile of dirt in the back of the yard that had to be cleaned up at much effort. Tried to reach them to complain with no response. Sent a letter with final payment to complain, which was then sent back with a thank you card. I would not use this company again.

It was a very good experience. I bid the job prior to hiring a provider. Their price was very competitive. The quality, materials, and installation was very good. I continue to recommend their services.

Overall everything went well. The crew came on time, they were polite and neat, cleaning up after themselves. The fence was finished in one day and the crew returned the next day to install the gates. The fence looks great and it gives us some privacy in our back yard. I would hire this company again.
