Company was responsive to come out and review the project and provide a quote. Scheduled a date for the work to be performed and contractor showed up as scheduled and completed the work in the morning. Everything went smoothly.

They did a great job. The floor already feels much warmer and its hardly cold out. The great thing was they could have come up with much more expensive solutions but they were truly concerned with getting done what I needed at a price I could afford.

The entire process was absolutely easy, customer oriented, competitively priced and the execution was very good. We choose to go on vacation while the installation was in progress and our house was left behind spotless after they were done working. Thank you!

It was fantastic! Jimmy does all my work. I have been using him for 4 ½ to 5 years. He is very knowledgeable and nice. His projects with me range from $3-8,000 depending on the size of the job. I trust him to do the job right. I feel that his pricing is within a reasonable range. I have never had a problem with him. The guys he sends don’t complain and stay until the job is done. He runs a good company.

The crew did not shop until 9:30-10 each day. They smoked frequently leaving cigarette butts on the my property. The insulation was everywhere from in the house to all over the property.

I am not one to write this kind of review, but I feel compelled. This project went so badly, I just couldn't believe it. First, they said they would come on a particular date in April 2013, and I had a siding contractor lined up to come after them. They blew that date by two weeks, giving an excuse that they didn't have the materials. (Ever heard of ordering your materials ahead of time?) Then they had massive mechanical problems and took over two weeks to finish a job they said would be done in two to three days. On top of that, they got overspray all over my property and when I complained to have them clean their mess, it took them weeks to do that and they failed to fully clean their mess up. They also got foam overspray on my new siding that I spent over $20K on. Great job guys! Finally, I had an electrician come and do some work and he opened up a fixture on the outside of the house and guess what, no foam! So I have no idea how much of my house was actually insulated by this crew. To top it all off, they were completely unprofessional when I would call and bring these issues up. They even went so far as to blame the vinyl siding team for their problems. Bottom line: did not live up to any part of their agreement and now I have a house that has an unknown amount of insulation in the walls.

The Green Cocoon does not conduct its operations in an honest, professional matter, from the initial estimate they provided to the condition they left my property after finishing the job. I would not recommend them. I asked them for an estimate which is based on the square foot of the walls. They estimated 1746 sq.ft. Then I learned I could get a rebate from the MassSave program, which came in and measured the walls to arrive at 1304 sq.ft ? a 439 sq. ft. error on the part of Green Cocoon, which at $2/sf equals an $878 miscalculation in their favor. The president of the company ? Mr. Materkowski ? apologized. (The same person who did the initial calculations also did the initial efficiency test on my heating system. While standing next to it and leaning on my 250-gallon oil tank, he asked me if it was a gas-fired system.) On the first day of work, The Green Cocoon interrupted my job so they could deliver an extension cord to another work team that was a few towns away. To do the work, they needed access to my basement and outlets. After the first day of work, when I was at work, they left my garage door open, and within it, the DOOR TO MY BASEMENT. Repeat: The Green Cocoon left my house open to the public after the first day of work. The first crew that Materkowski sent out severely damaged the siding on my house; the MassSave contract protects insulation companies from siding damage. So be it. But because they really botched the work, I complained and Materkowski promised to send ?his best crew? the next time. They were good and did not damage the siding. So the siding wasn?t the issue, just the poor workmanship of the first crew. The three-day job took The Green Cocoon all of July ? 27 days. They started and stopped work intermittently. Materkowski e-mailed to say that his trucks were broken and he couldn?t get to the job. The workers thought it would be easier for them to blow insulation from my attic down through the walls, so they tore up insulation in my attic and did not replace it. They disconnected my gutters to get to the siding but did not replace them before a rain storm, which resulted in my basement flooding. And they never replaced the clips that hold the gutters to the house. Green Cocoon workers left their tools on my yard and on my neighbors? yards; I collected a hammer, screwdrivers, a putty knife, large dustpan and numerous face masks, and returned it to them. They trampled vegetation around my house. They drilled holes in the house, did not fill them with insulation and did not cover them for days at a time. I sent photos of this grossly incompetent action to the president of the company, Materkowski, who agreed it was ?unacceptable.? For nearly 30 days, after ripping off my siding and drilling holes in my walls, this shameful company dilly-dallied, causing me to leave work on numerous occasions and clean-up for them after they left. Two weeks before mistakenly hiring the Green Cocoon, I had a roofing company, Arya Roofing, replace my roof. They did it in 2 days and picked up every nail around my house. I can only compare the two companies: Arya were major leaguers; The Green Cocoon is a poorly managed T-ball team. Avoid at all costs.

I have been working with the Green Cocoon for several months on this project. And before I write the full review - I want to point out the only "B" grade is price, but that is not against the company, but the fact that the product simply is an expensive solution (but worth it). I have a summer home in Maine built in the early 1900s. It was never designed for year round occupancy, but that said - over the years we have been adding insulation and tightening it up - and last winter was the first year the entire house was fully occupied (prior years we have shut down water in unused areas and left them unheated). Knowing we were moving in, about a year and a half ago I started reviewing data on spray foam technology, it's benefits, etc. and convinced myself it was worth pursuing. After talking with several energy auditors, doing a lot of research on my own, and asking contractor friends for references - I contacted the Green Cocoon. They initially scheduled a site visit and spent a good deal of time going through the entire house and talking with me about my overall goals and timeline. They made several suggestions but focused on insulating the attic first (as I had been told by other auditors). Due to the size and age of the home (~4000 sq. ft. with two large chimneys) there were really only two options: - manually locate and seal every air leak into the attic from the second floor, and then add ~18 inches of loose cellulose. - spray foam the roof. Over the winter I continued discussions with them, and doing more research on the technology and expected outcome. Finally this Spring we exchanged several proposals and settled on a final statement of work. Last week over three days they came onsite and actually did the insulation. I must say, their crew is exceptional. They again worked directly with me confirming all the details, and were very thorough about covering / protecting anything exposed in the attic that should not get "foam dust" (small plastic beads from the overspray) including the brick on both chimneys. The weather was hotter than any other time this year and temperatures in the attic were well over 130 degrees (I measured this personally). Yet they were careful, thorough and very professional throughout the entire job. I am (almost) eager for cold weather again to see the actual benefit. From everything I have read and everyone I have talked with it will be dramatic. I would strongly recommend these folks to anyone who is considering an insulation project (large or small). (had I known how the work would go, I would have had it done last fall - but I was being *very* cautious and thorough before committing to the job).

The service provided was good. They were reliable and they came on time. They gave a thorough estimate and definitely followed-up.

The Green Cocoon were thorough. Their communication was good. The owner of the company was there an hour before hand and he actually sort of participated in the installation as well. They cleaned up after themselves. Their price was reasonable.

They were more expensive than other services, but they came with high marks on Angie's List & we wnated to "go green." The manager was friendly but very disorganized. The project was started almost 5 months after we first made contact with him. The delay wasn't caused by a back load of jobs, it was simply his disorganization. Anyway, when the project finally started he informed us of some tax benefits that the other contractors did not which, in the end, saved us quite a bit of money. When the job was finished he called to set up a time when he could come by & receive the remainder of his payment. Well, as was typical, it's been 6 weeks & he still hasn't come by. We've called him twice & reminded him that we'd still like to pay him what he is properly owed. I think we've done enough. The workers were a bit sloppy & there was a lot of detritus to pick up after the job was finished. If they were more conscientious about the clean up I would have given them a higher mark. Bottom line: I'd hire them again, but I'd be more insistant about my concerns.

I collected several quotes on spray foaming my attic. Green cocoon had the best price and they were very professional. They took care of submitting all of the energy rebate forms. They cleaned up well. I was very satisfied, and our heating bills have dropped by about 40 percent.

The owner of the company came to assess the job and provided encouragement and great insights. The Operations Manager, James Materkowski, is knowledgeable, honest and service oriented. These guys know what they're doing. Now my home is airtight and super warm. I'm saving over $250. a month on my heating bill cmpared to what was paid last winter. I recommend the Green Cocoon without any hesitation.
