Zip Express Installation

I used Zip last year. At that time they sent a pc whiz to my home who did a fantastic job. I was very pleased. I called Zip this time on a Saturday and asked for a Monday appt. The rep told me they no longer do house calls but someone would call me and do the repairs on line. Also the cost went from $150 to $200. This seemed odd since it wasn't ever a house call like last time. I waited for a call on Monday. I called 3 times Monday afternoon asking where my pc guy was. The first person said they would call soon. The second person didn't seem to know who I was. The third person said David, the leader, would call me when he returned from lunch. He never called. On Tuesday I left a message for David and told him to call or I would take my business elsewhere. Finally I received a call but not from Dave. First this person told me the company is no longer Zip;they were bought out and then he tried to sell me a monthly subscription for PC maintenance. I took my PC to Staples and it was fixed in 2 days for $150.

Zip advertises in the yellow pages as same day service. I called on Monday but no one was available so they set up next day service which was Tuesday between 9 and 11am. At 11:30am I called and they told me there was a scheduling problem but someone would come on Tuesday. By 4 pm it was clear no one was coming so I agreed to Wednesday morning or forget it! Wednesday morning Dimitri called and said he would arrive by 10 am. He called at 9:45 and said he would be a little late. He arrived at 10:15. I would have been unhappy with Zip except for Dimitri. He is the perfect pc professional. He explained what he was doing and tried a number of things before the problems were solved. After he solved the problems he tried many times to replicate the problem to ensure it would not happen again. He worked for 1 hour and 45 minutes and the cost was still $149. A competitor would have charged $225 for this amount of time. In summary, I was not happy with the scheduling but am satisfied with the work.
