Groom Construction Co Inc

I called Groom twice, once leaving my contact information with office staff and once leaving a voicemail. I never heard back and was going to write them off but decided to make one final attempt. Well, I should have saved myself the time. I was able to get in touch with the office staff on my 2nd attempt of the day and was asked a couple questions about my project. I was then told Groom only does "high end residential projects". I explained why I was in need of a GC and was then asked how "big" my job was. It was very clear that they weren't interest, which I find surprising seeing they had never seen the job. Groom certainly has a right to pick and choose their business but it's too bad they so quickly decided they weren't interested. This is by no means a small project and is actually the first of a future larger house renovation and they just lost a potential repeat customer. Maybe they do good work but I have no idea. Don't waste your time if you're not "high end" (whatever that means). I was not impressed and will not be calling them again, even if I plan to rebuild the Taj Mahal.

I have used Groom Construction on 6 projects and they are exceptional, from start to finish. Now...this IS GC work and...there are ALWAYS issues that come about. It is the manner by which the Groom Team: Tom Groom, Tim Dougherty, Brian Gauthier et al., deal with the challenge. They NEVER get flustered and serve their clients as they would themselves. Also...we first used them in 1999...so we have 13 years of history with them. Groom is a VERY different company from 1999. They are one of the most successful residential and commercial construction firms in Eastern MA, yet they never forget to "do the right thing" at all times! In fact...5 weeks after a big remodel, we received a check in the mail for $5,862 and...I wondered what it was for. Well, I called Tom Groom and he said, "Craig remember when I said that I need (X) percentage for profit? Well, that check is over and above the profit I needed for that job"! Are you kidding me or what?? Can you EVER imagine that happening??? Anyway...Groom has a "customer for Life" with my family!!

Excellent work. Done on time and within budget. We have used Groom on several projects since and will use him again. We have referred Groom to several of our friends that have used him and all had excellent experiences.
