Called Trethewey Brothers after our gas hot water heater kicked the bucket and talked over some options with Bob. Bob did his best to check if our existing unit was covered under an existing warranty. Unfortunately it ended up being 8 months out of warranty. Bob was knowledgable and able to get a technician to perform the installation the following morning. What made their service stand out was that the morning of the installation was the start of a snow storm and they were still able to get someone out. Other companies that I contacted were not responsive and we most likely would have still been without hot water. The morning of the installation I received a call from the dispatcher who was great and accommodating even though snow was starting to come down. The removal and installation took a bit over an hour (I had turned off the unit and drained it the night before). The installer was professional and respectful of our home. The total price was much higher than what some friends had their A.O. Smith hot water heaters installed for, but those were in other states. I suspect was we paid is somewhat in line with the markup for labor and parts in the Boston area. If we had more time I would have done more research on the A.O. Smith website and opted for a more efficient unit.

As always with T-Bros, efficient good job. We always use them for plumbing work, never disappointed. Could be cheaper but it's worth the little bit extra not to worry.

Came on time, did careful. neat work. We've used Tretheway for years and we're always had good service They're not inexpensive, but they are pros.

Demolished old unsightly tile and walls around tub, installed rockboard and new tile up to but not including the ceiling and also modernized the 1950's shower fixtures. Installed a combination light/ventilator fan along with electrical switches. |We have always been happy with the quality of T-Bros work but this is the first major project we have done with them. Everything went exactly as described, the workers were friendly and helpful and electricians, plumbers and tiles cleaned up everyday such that the non-shower functions of the bathroom could be used. |I have always thought that Trethewey Brothers were a little pricey so I did give them a B for that. But if the category was value, it would be an A.

They were wonderful! It was a difficult installation due to space constraints. They made adjustments to accommodate the space and home needs.

I was able to set up a service appointment for the date I wanted. They gave me a morning window of 4 hours and promised to call 10 mins ahead of arrival. That happened as promised. The technician, Billy C, arrived on time, was polite, professional and clean with the work. He identified a leak in a circulator pump (showed it to me), tried to fix it but couldn't, and discussed options with me. He had the replacement part on the truck, and in another hour the work was completed. Also got some helpful information about weighing pros and cons of different boiler replacement options (standard vs high efficiency). I'll get at least one more season out of my aging heating system.

I've used them for about 20 years. They're timely and competent.

Arrived when stated - very professional - The bathroom is extremelly small and the pipes in the wall were coming out at an angle which made the installation difficult and more lengthy than usual, increasing the labor cost. That said, the plumber was awesome! He did an excellent job in a not so easy situation! He was professional and really wanted to do the best installation like it was his own home. I really appreciated his effort. He made sure that the sink and faucet arrived from the manufacturer with no problems and completed the installation and cleaned up like he had never been there. Have used them in the past and will continue to do so.

They are very friendly and easy going and I use them on a consistant basis. They are the ones that I call for any plumbing issues.

Very prompt reply to my call. They contacted the company they used for sewer work. Things were taken care of within 2-3 hours of original call.

They were excellent! On time! They were in and out in about an hour! The did more than what I thought needed to be done, with no extra cost compared to the original quote! The price reflects on the quality of the work done!

I had called them ln Dec 2011 for a similar problem. That plumber said the problem was that the original plumber had not drilled a hole in the pipe causing the pump not to work. He charged me $98 for the service and advised me to call for a refund since it should have been done when installed. Typically, the owner never returned my calls. Recently when I had to call again, despite my request to have someone else, the owner sent his "expert" on sump pumps who installed it in the first place. He claims he did drill the hole, but I needed new sump pump. Though for the moment it is working, the pvc pipe is positioned to discharge the water near the side of my garden, eroding all the soil and washing soil, mulch etc over the stone wall in front of my house. I now have to find someone to correct this mess! I would advise strongly against using this plumbing service!

Plumber was put off by age of house (standard for JP), botched two jobs, had to return the next day to fix things he botched. He was unable to fix the dripping faucet--broke off a part. Have had two very good Trethewey experiences, so may try them again, but this time was not good at all. Did come on time, however, and was prompt to fix the botched things the next day.

My overall experience with Trethewey Brothers Inc was good. Everything was fine and the guy was pleasant. He came on time. He seemed to know what he was doing which is one of the more important thing.

Called two plumbers for a replacement price. Hub from S. Boston wanted $1500 and were determined to install what they knew and not what I asked for. Tretheway came a day earlier than expected and did job for $950. There was a communication screwup between us. The Tretheway plumber asked if I wanted a nice price and I said of course. He substituted an AOSmith. I was initially upset but was pleasantly surprised when they offered to swap it out for free for the added cost of what I originally wanted.

They stole fixtures from my bathroom and replaced them with plastic ones. I never asked them to replace these fixtures. I took them into the bathroom and I showed them the problem. He was messing with the fixtures and I asked why and he said that he needed to check them out. I called them after I realized that the fixtures were stolen. I called and spoke with the receptionist and she said that she would need to speak with the tech. They called me back and told me that it was the techs word against mine. He stole my original fixtures that go on my shower and tub. The company said that I was lying and they never stole the fixtures.

Tee entire T-Bros experience was outstanding. The sales rep/estimator was very responsive, professional, and friendly. And the installation team was exactly the same. They were professional, neat, clean, and quiet and caused minimal disruption -- an amazing feat for a complex multi-day project that required working in extremely confined spaces. We'll definitely call on them again for other work.

I have used Trethewey Bros. since the early 90s. They are very reliable, very friendly, very responsive, and know their business. And that's how it was this time, as well. From call to completion was less than 90 minutes. The repair person (Paul) wasn't even sure that it was a plumbing job, so I was impressed that he made a couple of calls to help him figure out what was the best course of action. It took T-Bros less than 20 minutes to bring the part and no more than a half an hour till completion after that.

I had very high expectations of Trethewey Brothers and I'm afraid they did not measure up. The team from Trethewey and all of their subs were very nice and pleasant, but this was not my issue. My issue was that I hired them to be a general contractor for this project. This means oversight. Over the course of this project (which was quoted to take 3 weeks but took nearly 3 months), I had a number of issues. The tub I purchased was chipped shortly after installation. Instead of resolving this issue right away, they continued construction around the tub without properly protecting the surface from debris to prevent further damage. Next, the sink and toilet were not installed in the correct location in this rather small bathroom. I had ordered a small vanity cabinet because of the limited space, but it seemed like it was not considered when installed. When I complained I heard a lot of "we'll do what make sense" versus, "don't worry, we'll fix it so that you are happy". This vanity cabinet was also damaged during installing due to the plumber not paying attention to the height of the fixture and improperly locating the trap - so they cut up the inside of the cabinet with a reciprocating saw instead of fixing the trap. The toilet was installed so close to the wall that you could barely slide your hand in to flush the lever. These things seemed to me to be obvious oversights for any professional plumber, but again I had hired Trethewey to provide general contracting services which I feel were neglected. Lastly, other damage occurred during the course of this project that just added to my overall frustration. I had to reorder the medicine cabinet, because the first one they installed got damaged by one of the subs. I had to alert them to the damage (chipped mirror) because nobody on their crew told me about it. The screen in my bathroom got damaged with a bunch of holes. This was never repaired, so I have to take care of that myself. The hardwood floors in my hallway were damaged by painters tape and by some corrosive liquid. The flooring company they hired to "repair" made the damage worse. Again, I will have to fix it myself. When the project was nearly over, I started hearing that "well, we typically don't work on projects where the homeowner has purchased their own fixtures". If this was a problem, why wasn't I told this at the beginning when they were quoting the job, I would have chosen another contractor. Overall, I am very unhappy with the level of concern that was paid to my project. It makes me wonder if they would do this kind of work in their own homes and just live with the mistakes. My project has been over now for several months, and not once have I received a follow up to ask me if everything is working okay. The only reason that this project did not receive an "F" rating is because they agreed to make adjustments in the final bill.

They have been around for a long time. They are a little pricey, but are very good. They are reliable. They show up when they say they are going to show up. We can call them and get the job done.

Trethewey Brothers did some plumbing fixture repair at our home. They have also done some routine maintenance at our house. I just had them come out for an estimate for sink installation. I like that they are a local family owned business. They are a great company however their price is a little expensive.

I never spoke to them about it, I just paid it. They were very helpful. Someone came out on a Friday but he could not do the estimate and a manager came out on Saturday and looked everything over and gave us an estimate a couple of days later. They gave us an estimate on putting in a new boiler. We won't be using this company in the future.

Everything went fine and I would use them again. I had them replace some other faucets in the house as well with ball joint type levers instead of the handle faucets where there were plumbing cut-offs. Over time those turn-handle faucets wear out and leak. Their prices were reasonable and the work was done fast and efficiently.

They do a good job. The only issue I had was price. I had a clog they could not fix so they sent another person to fix it. They did not charge me.
