Description of Work: The previous plumber had replaced stem in a leaking bathroom faucet, but it kept leaking. He said I Would need a new sink because the present one was so old new faucets would not fit. I called Trethewey for a second opinion. That plumber found that the replacement part was incomplete. He put in a good one, the leak stopped, and the charge was less than a new sink would have been.

Description of Work: On time. Very professional. Worked very quickly and did not try to extend work time. We used this company years ago and they provide the same quality service today.

Description of Work: They replaced a hot water heater that was just under 10 years old, within-in warranty. |I called when I first noticed the water flowing onto the cellar floor. The woman on the phone said they would be there later in the day. I had a contractor in the house to let them in so I went to work. At 4 pm, I received a call that they did not have the model they needed, so the service would have to be the next day. I was upset because, even though I had closed the intake valve, water was still leaking. |They did come promptly the next morning and installed the new hot water heater and a CO detector. They were quick, professional and neat. I am satisfied.

Description of Work: A plumber came out to evaluate the job for a fee. He assessed the problem and the job and stated that he wouldn't want take the job if he had to do it personally. He was to report back and have the company provide an estimate for the job. We never received the estimate. We called Trethewey brothers 2 or 3 times to ask for an estimate for the repair but never received one. | |So we got a paid professional estimate of our problem and no possibility of getting the repair executed. Other plumbers had the decency to refuse the job over the phone rather than waste a day off of work to evaluate a job that they had no intention of taking due to the scope of work. | |If you have an easy job, I bet they would do high quality work for a much higher price than other plumbers who would also take your easy job. Don't call them if you have a complicated job, they will likely waste your time and money.

Description of Work: Searching for a contractor to extend hvac system to 2 bedrooms on third floor. Field rep was nice enough, kept his appointment, yet after 3 calls and two emails never received a quote or a "we're not interested in your job", from them.

Description of Work: I had heard that Trethewey Bros were expensive... I believe that you get what you pay for, I can sleep at night and not worry about the work that was done. I am using them for two more projects.

Description of Work: Services an old boiler in the house. Were professional, punctual, and did a great job. Answered all of my uninformed questions.

Description of Work: We had used Trethaway in the past for adding a heat zone, plumbing repairs and had been pleased so we used them most recently to convert from oil heat to gas. All went well with them though the utility company was difficult to deal with!

Description of Work: I have used them a few times before but this particular time, my bathroom sink was leaking. I called another plumber first but they couldn't fix it so I called Tretheway. I didn't call them first because they are more expensive but in the end, I think it is worth it. It was a simple fix the other plumber didn't notice. They charge by time so it was still expensive even though they didn't have to replace any parts, but I'm glad it's fixed!

Description of Work: We had bought a home water filtration system from Trethewey Bros. We have impurities coming out. We changed the filter twice at a cost of $40 each time. The Trethewey person -a nice guy- promised to get back to us as our expensive system must be still under warranty. The company failed us afterward despite multiple calls. We have decided to go slesewhere and forget our investment

Description of Work: Although we had used this company in the past, they FAILED to return multiple phone calls requesting a quotation to convert our heating system from oil to gas. I was promised communication by their friendly and efficient staff on the initial call, but never got my calls (plural) returned by their estimator for this type of work. I'd like to add that our house is only about four blocks from Trethewey Bros. Since they seemed uninterested in following through on a job that ended up costing a fair amount of money, we used another Angie's list member who provided the kind of expertise and follow-through that you would expect from a professional company. I sent an email to Trethewey after completion of our job detailing our experiences, including dates, times, and failures. I got a pro-forma apology from one of the office staff, but nothing from someone in authority. I guess these folks are too busy making comedy sketches on This Old House.
