Any homeowner knows there are endless things to fix with any house. I worked with Joe last year to have my bathroom remodeled, my hardwood floors fixed, and other smaller tasks. When my ceiling started leaking last year, I called Joe and he got it taken care of. When I needed my driveway fixed, I called Joe. When I needed to replace my heater, I called Joe. Recently some family members needed some work done, and I put them through to Joe. When there was something he cannot do himself, he able to put me through with somebody else to get the job done. Joe is reliable, professional, and communicative. You cannot expect every project to buttery smooth, and I love that Joe excelled working with me to resolve problems that came up. Noone can foresee all the problems that will happen, but he will definitely work with you to fix issues even if they come up. He is somebody I trust to get the job done if anything happens; I cannot recommend him enough. If you are looking to work with somebody reasonable and professional and can give you honest and good recommendations to a solution, this is it.

This is the 4th time I have hired SILMAC for a project, and this was the largest job by far - a full gut renovation of my kitchen, adding a powder room, and putting on an addition with a laundry/mudroom. I’m so pleased with how everything turned out - it is truly the space I had dreamed about when I bought the house! Joe and his crew are extremely reliable and responsive. It’s inevitable that bumps in the road will arise during a large renovation like this, especially in an old house, but Joe was proactive in addressing them and always kept me informed. His level of service truly stands out! It doesn’t surprise me that he has over 200 reviews and nearly a 5 star rating - he is that good! You will not be disappointed hiring SILMAC for your next project.

This was our 3rd project we contacted SILMAC Construction and Joe over the years. We need a complete refresh of condo unit in Charlestown in order to list and we working on very tight timeline. The refresh included refinishing wood floors, overall interior painting of the unit, electrical updating and final deep cleaning for showing of the unit. Joe jumped on the job on a Saturday less than 24 hours after our rental tenants moved out and completed the entire refresh in less than 10 days within the price he quote. We will continue to work Joe and Silmac in the future.

We could not be more pleased with the work that Joe and his carpenter did to refurbish the porches and basement entryway of our 1890s home. The work was performed promptly, on-budget, and looks beautiful. Trash was picked up neatly and disposed of promptly. Joe is highly responsive and a pleasure to work with. He also helped us with a last-minute plumbing problem. 10/10 would work with again!

Joe is professional, knowledgeable, incredibly reliable, and will deliver on the services he promised. Joe and Silmac were hired to do a complete gut and renovation of my master bath to something sleek and modern that my designer and I had put together. I got the recommendation for Joe from a friend who did two bathroom renos with him and the work was beautiful. This bathroom scale was much larger and the quality of the work was top notch. Joe is a perfectionist and it shows, he wants it done perfectly and for you to be happy. I even tacked on adding a wall and enclosing my office space part way through the bathroom and Joe executed that with speed and helped me to make some fast decisions. Joe is responsible obtaining all the necessary permits and inspections and hires quality people. The final product of the bathroom is just what I dreamed. The only major snag we encountered was the shower glass supplier (who was not Joes usual supplier) encountered some delays in the delivery and it impacted timing for the final completion of the project. I’d recommend Silmac again wholeheartedly!

We were very pleased with Silmac. Joe was responsive and friendly. Cost was very competitive. (The price below was for labor for my unit, decking materials were separate.) And Nei was efficient in doing the work on site.

I am always really happy to see their results, Joe makes sure to take care of everything so that it is done professionally, up to all building and code standards, and that it looks spectacular in the end. Joe DaSilva from Silmac has become my go to person for all house projects! Ive remodeled my bathroom, laundry room, and built a new deck with Silmac. Recently I needed an electrician to install an outdoor outlet and Joe sent out an electrician that did the job in a few hours. Ive also recommended Silmac to a friend whom is currently having her bathroom renovated. Reasonably priced and friendly help. Can't recommend this company enough!

Joe managed our bathroom remodel and we are very pleased with both the process and the result. Joe brings years of experience which helped define the scope of the project. He is great at communicating details involved for each step, always responsive to any of our questions. Joe was responsive on email, which was very important to me, and polite and helpful, and the deck ended up looking beautiful and within budget. My only issue is that his subcontractor made a few mistakes and omissions along the way which delayed the project, and I did have to do one fix afterward (re-gluing a piece that fell off). I also want to add that Joe was great dealing with me OR my husband, and was not at all sexist. Unfortunately, you cannot take this for granted among contractors.

I recently complete my third big project with Joe and his team, he is very responsive, reasonably priced and you can trust the job will be done with very high quality. Joe is also amazing at following up on any issues after the project is complete. You can always count on him as a person.

I’ve worked with Joe and his team twice now - once to finish a basement, and most recently, to take care of a laundry list of items I needed done that were beyond my skillset. He’s timely, professional, and detail-oriented, and the subcontractors he works with are as well. Always on budget, no surprises, and awesome to work with whether the project is big or small. My dad is a retired contractor and gives his thumbs up too.

Joe and his team were fantastic. We have done a few projects inside and outside (new deck) and their quality and workmanship is wonderful. Also, they are extremely responsive and professional. All of the projects have been a great value. I recommend them highly.

Joe and his team at Silmac did a terrific job on a pretty complicated basement renovation. It's an old Boston house with a few old-house surprises lurking behind the walls and under floors. To be clear, none of these issues were Joe's team's fault--just our home's age. Each time we encountered something, Joe promptly let us know what he found, what would need to be done about it, and kept us in the loop. These unexpected issues aside, his team was professional and courteous. I think the thing that really stood out to us was Joe's availability and communication throughout the process. A project this big--it involved digging a few feet into the basement floor, pouring new concrete, etc--was new for us, but Joe generated a lot of trust, both with his knowledge and with his transparency and communication. And at the end of the project, our basement was transformed from a really rough basement into a place that our whole family enjoys spending time. So the process and the end product was really great. We don't have any immediate projects in mind, but when we do, we'll reach out to Joe at Silmac again.
