Dave's Fuel

Description of Work: We discovered Dave's Fuel a couple of years ago. At the time, (novice homeowners) we actually thought that our tank was out of oil. Our furnace stopped working in the middle of the night and we searched the web for emergency oil service. We called several places and left messages as instructed and waited for someone to call us back. We didn't have a contract with any company; we just ordered oil on demand. So a few companies told us they would only offer emergency service to current customers. We asked if we could become customers and sign a delivery contract just so that they would come out and help us. No dice! But Dave of Dave's Fuel did call us back. (As a side note ... there are some companies that never called us back, even the next day!) He said that he didn't think we were out of oil and speculated instead that there was something malfunctioning on the furnace itself. He said he'd come out and take a look with his maintenance van. He arrived quickly, as promised. He was professional, polite, and clearly experienced. He troubleshooted the furnace, fixed it, and had us up and running. We decided right then that he would be our oil guy and we've used him ever since. I don't remember what the cost of that initial repair was, but it was definitely reasonable. He now does our annual cleanings and treats us so well every time he's here. At our last cleaning he pointed out a piece that will eventually need to be replaced. It was nice the way he explained it to us and gave us options about it. We opted to just replace it right away and it was really inexpensive. But we really appreciate the way he explains where things stand. We've never, ever felt pressured to buy or upgrade anything. To get oil we call and leave a message specifying the amount and he usually comes the next day. At the beginning of this month (December 2012) we had another issue. The heat wasn't turning on. We were able to trick it into working a few times but then our luck ran out. My husband called and Dave was nice enough to call back and walk him through a few questions to try and figure out where the problem was. It turned out that we needed him to come by after all. He arrived, showed us where the issue was (very outdated part!) and replaced it. $160 seemed reasonable and it's been working great.
