Mr. Rego met with me initially to go over the work required and was careful to ascertain my wishes. The work was carefully done, with Mr. Rego and his crew arriving exactly as scheduled and completing the work in two days, as promised. He selected stones that match the stone wall by my drive perfectly and cut the bluestone top in a very attractive pattern. Old bricks and cement were taken away and the site was totally clean when the workmen left. The stone wall that abuts my driveway looks like new. I was particularly impressed that Mr. Rego returned my call the evening of the first day. When I observed what had been done, it did not look to me as if the step from the house to the porch was going to be the height I had wanted so I called and left a message about my concern. The next day I learned that he had checked with his workmen to be certain they had followed the plans before returning my call. And ... this is one time when I am happy to say that I was wrong. The step from door threshold to porch was perfect.

Valter and his crew prepped the area to be repaired the first day. They applied a bonding agent so that the concrete would adhere properly. The second day, the concrete was applied. Valter did much of the "finish" work himself to make sure it was done well. The repaired area looks GREAT! Thanks Valter!

Very good work. Dependable. He called back. He came and gave free inspection and explained what he was going to do, and what might happened, and that there might be some extra costs in those cases. The price was good. I would use him again.

Honestly, I don't normally write reviews for contractors, mainly because they're, for the most part, difficult to deal with. Not the case with Walter. He showed up to give an estimate within hours of my calling, gave a firm and fair quote, and started the work the next morning, much sooner than I had anticipated. He came with a full and professional crew, performed the work well, had all the necessary tools, and came back the next morning to make sure his work was of good quality. I had a strict deadline for this project, and Walter was happy to meet that deadline, and to finish even quicker than I needed him too. The final product of his work was terrific, and Walter was so easy to communicate with, and I really enjoyed working with him--I never thought I would be able to say that about a contractor! We have other concrete jobs to do around the property, and I will certainly have Walter do them for us. He knows everything about concrete, self leveling, and masonry more generally, and he knows how to finish a project and to do them right, without skimping on materials. Thank you, Walter, for your excellent work.

Valter showed up personally on May 14th to provide estimate. Was honest about several week backlog of work before he could begin our job, but still promised sooner start than other estimates we received. He began work June 20th, a few days sooner than we expected, and finished within a couple of days, even though there had been a miscommunication about the paver color that required him to exchange a large load of pavers before starting second day of work. Valter returned a few weeks later to re-work an area of paving which hadn't matched up quite the way we liked. Valter takes pride in his work, and the walkway came out great. Survived this brutal winter very well. We have had a lot of compliments.

The quality of work of Valter Rego Masonry stood out the most and they actually did it faster than what they anticipated which is a real rarity of the trade. He actually was supposed to take a certain amount of time and he actually came in fast. I was very pleased with it. He also did some recommendations on the materials and with the price which was very nice. Valter Rego Masonry was very timely, very professional and the quality of work. He rebuilt a retaining wall, we had a retaining wall in my basement, a whole store went into our basement. It was really nice what he did. I would absolutely use him in the future.

Great experience! I found Valter Rego Masonary on Angie's List. I called on a Saturday and was surprised that they answered the phone. My appointment for a quote was setup the next week. Valter was on time, discussed what was needed and gave me a very reasonable quote. I had received other quotes from chimney sweep companies that quoted me much higher. I felt the chimney sweeps were just throwing out a price. I'm glad I looked into a masonry company. He and his team were on time, professional and cleaned up very well when they were done. The repairs took about five hours to complete. The crew built scaffolding, ground out the joints and repointed.

Valter was on time, provided a great quote and finished within the timeframe requested. His workers were polite and accommodating to small changes I requested during the process. I would highly recommend him for any masonry projects.

I did a lot of research when I decided that I wanted to put a patio around the deck leading to my backyard. I got four quotes - three of them were fairly close, but Valter's was a bit higher. That said, I quickly realized that the reason for that is that you get what you pay for! Based on my extensive research, Valter had all the right answers in terms of installation process, quality of materials, and dedication to the project, so I decided to go with him. Also, his 10% discount to Angie's List members really helped in terms of the cost. Valter is a consummate professional, and did a beautiful job. He was prompt in his response to my request for a quote and reliable at every step of the process. He and his guys showed up when we agreed, took the amount of time promised (despite weather obstacles), and did the installation as was discussed. When I discovered a grading issue a few days after the installation (in large part due to settling & the adjacent landscaping), Valter responded to my concern immediately, promptly came back to address it, and did so completely to my satisfaction. I was always able to reach him both by phone and email, he was always prompt and courteous in his return calls, and was considerate in checking with me on all questions. I would highly recommend Valter Rego for any stone project, and fully intend to use him again for any future work that I need.

I liked them. They were very good and very responsive. They communicated well. They did the job when they said they were going to do it. They cleaned up after themselves. They did a good job. They were very polite. They did not use any foul language. It was a hardworking Portuguese family business.

During the 2013 blizzard, we had a number of trees uproot -- their close proximity to the house caused damage to the old 'stone and mortar' foundation of our home. We found 'Valter Rego Masonry' through Angie's list, and we're so glad we did! Valter Rego (the owner) came to size up the job, explaining exactly how he would go about doing the foundation repair. Additionally, he would remove and replace the cement stairs and landing, also cracked by the uprooted trees. Since excavating would be required, he indicated that he would also take care of removing and disposing of the remaining tree roots near the foundation. Since their specialty is masonry, we decided to have him also include repointing our chimney and put on a stainless steel chimney cap as part of the entire job. He also followed up with a prompt quote, which we felt was very fair, given the magnitude of the job. He and his crew arrived when they said they would, and spent 3 days to complete the job. While they were on-site, I remembered that we had a small stone knee wall on the back of the house that had started to crumble, and had always wanted to have repaired. I talked to Valter, and he offered to repair it for us at no additional cost (unheard of in this day and age). The completed job exceeded our expectations -- in fact, they went the extra mile to grade the earth near the foundation and threw down grass seed (we didn't even ask them to do this!). We were pleasantly surprised when Valter came back to do a 'touch-up' on a void on the cement landing. As best we could tell, a chunk of pine bark mulch must have landed in the wet cement -- it clearly did not meet his standards, so he removed it and filled the void, again without asking. It became obvious to us that he treated our job as if it were his own home -- we can't express our gratitude enough to the crew at Valter Rego Masonry for doing such a great job, done professionally and with attention to detail. We can't recommend them enough!

Look 100 times better- very pleased

I got quotes from 3 companies. He came the day after I called so it was a pretty quick response. I was very satisfied with the response from all 3 of them. The quotes ranged between $700-$4,000 because they had different ideas of how to fix the front stairs. I asked them for suggestions on what to do and they were helpful.

Everything went really well. The repaired area looks great.

Really great experience. I thought he was just going to cement in the missing bricks but he pressure-washed all the dirt and moss away, installed the new brick and put additional cement in areas where it was wearing away. He also spoke with me about how to keep it fantastic looking and make sure the repair held for a long time. I think Mr. Rego takes a lot of pride in doing a good job and we have received a lot of complements.

I submitted a request for quotation from 4 masonry contractorsfor the construction of a kneewall at the end of my property. I received prices back from all 4 of the masonry contractors. The firm I selected wasValter Rego Masonry. Valter's firm was not the lowest price nor were they the highest price. I selected Valter based on his jobsite visit and the discussion that we had on site about the project. I could not be more pleased by the way the work turned out. Valter was on site when he said he would be and completed the work in one day. He and one of his employee's cleaned up the area and hauled all the debris away. You would not have known any new construction had occured.

Valter does high-quality work that has definitely enhanced the appearance of my home. He is professional, his quotes are reasonable, and he completes the work within the time and budget estimated. I plan on using him again and would recommend him to anyone.

excellent. Valter is a pro....they arrived on time and finished in the estimated time frame. it was during one of our heat waves and one day also had a fierce thunderstorm so the job took one day longer than the original estimate which is very understandable. The team worked hard, they asked me for my input and followed what I asked for. They cleaned up after themselves. One night I had to move my lawn chairs out of the way to get my car out of the garage...but I am sure if I said something they wouldn't have left them there. the patio looks wonderful....my neighbors have all stopped by to make comments. highly recommend Valter.

Last year, we had a mason tear down our brick fireplace and build a stone one. That mason did a terrible job. We called Walter Rego Masonry to fix the poorly applied and crumbling mortar. They were knowledgeable, professional and performed the work in a timely and neat manner. They are excellent masons.

It would take two coatings of cement actually ended up taking 3 layers of cement and didn't up the price he said once he gives an estimate he sticks to it. He moved some of the things that were in the way. He also replaced windows that I had purchased before hand. He even picked up the windows after I purchased them. First day he hit the water main and he never charged me to use my own plumber to fix the issue he paid for it. He also added a 4 inch slab for the washer and dryer to sit on.
