Valter Rego Masonry

They did a great job. They came when they said they would, did an excellent job, and charged us exactly what their original estimate was. When there was an unexpected delay due to inclement weather, they contacted us pro-actively and gave us an updated time of when they would do the job. Great to work with.

Overall very well. Unlike many contractors Valter shows uip on the date promised and his crew works until the job is finished. He has also done jobs for relatives. Work is generally of high quality.

After leaving multiple voice mails and even trying to contact the company via email over a two week period I can't even get a call back from this company.

Superb job and workmanship. Went from a disaster zone to a perfect patio that greatly improves the look of my house. Valter is knowledgeable and showed enormous attention to detail. One small surprise, which could have been avoided; when Valter adjusted the drainage piping, I assumed that was included in the original price (it was not). While not unreasonable, I wished I had asked or he had volunteered that information. Despite that small glitch, I would hire him again in a minute. The patio looks at least as good now as when it was done almost a year ago. Valter cleaned up perfectly and came back a month later to seal the job (without prompting).

Valter arrived on time to look over project. He was on time and professional. Once we scheduled the work, his crew arrived on the scheduled day and performed the work very well. They cleaned up afterwards. This was a good contractor experience.

Delayed due to severe winter but once started work went quickly and efficiently. Valter and his crew worked long and hard to give us a beautiful entrance to our home.

Excellent service! Valter did many extras such as fixing broken sidewalk and garage lip. Cannot say enough about their work. Great job!

Walter was very thorough and prompt. He did a great job replacing an area in the floor of our music room that had to be ripped up to replace a drain pipe section. We serve adults with disabilities here at our day center and he was very patient with all the activity that was going on around him. At one one of our clients dropped something on the newly poured cement floor and he came right back and fixed it without any hesitation. Highly recommended!

responsive and quality of work was good

It went VERY WELL! We'd gotten an initial quote early in the spring and then revisited the idea with him during the summer before going ahead. We were both flexible in terms of time frames which made it easy to work in some additional landscaping at a reasonable additional charge. Most importantly, Valter was very accommodating with my erecting a decorative concrete block retaining wall around the base material before the final pour of the driveway slab. His crew alternated work days around my weekend efforts. I couldn't be happier with the final result.

Valter was very quick to come out and give me an estimate. They did a fantastic job on the wall - it looks beautiful. The only draw back was that it was a couple of months before they were able to come out and actually do the work, even though I had been told a couple of weeks. It was only a small job, so I understand it getting pushed back because of larger jobs, just would have appreciated a call to update. Would definitely use him again though if needed because of the quality of work.

The Estimate: Valter Rego, himself, came to my property on the promised date and time. When I got stuck in traffic and called to say I was running late myself, he waited. It was after dark and I was over 20 minutes late: This was a positive sign. He toured my basement, where I had requested an estimate to repair the crumbling fieldstone walls, dig out and pour a concrete floor with French drains and install sump pump. He appeared completely knowledgeable and self-assured, and promptly created a written estimate that day before departiing. I had sought one other estimate from a competing firm, so we sat and digested the information contained in both, then discussed our impressions (both were extraordinary) before selecting Valter Rego for the work. Though his estimate was more competitively priced, I can honestly say it was his compelling personality and self-assured demeanor that drew us to selecting his firm. Will update this review after the work is complete.

My elderly aunt called me because her insurance company stated that her front steps were unsafe and not to code. She had approx.8 large steps sitting on a foundation that was crumbling. Mr. Rego and his crew demolished the old steps and replaced them with beautiful new and safe steps. He provided her with all of the up keep information and her steps look fantastic. Mr. Rego was professional and very patient working with me acting as a liaison for my aunt. He started on time and ended on time. Neighbors have commented on how beautiful the steps look. I would use him again if I needed any type of masonry work.

After receiving several quotes from local vendors we decided to go with Valter Rego masonry. Unfortunately, after three missed commitments over the course of 5 months, this contractor never showed up. I've made 7 phone calls to reschedule but have not been successful. I'm sure that the lack of attention to my job is due to the low $ value. We are quite frustrated with this contractor and would not recommend him to anyone. Nothing worse than a contractor who does not show up!!!

Great job. Looks great. Very professional. Good communication. I now have a mason for all future work. I will use again without hesitation.

He did not end up doing the job

The wall looks great and the work site cleaned up very well as small wells had to be dug on the upper dirt part of the wall to allow the water to drain properly. A large crew completed the work in one day. All seems good but I will have to see how it does when it rains and snows. Valter was knowledgeable and I'm confident the wall will last for many years. Thanks to Angie's list for the recommendation and Valter Rego for the discount.

Valter was professional, punctual and a pleasure to work with. He was able to install brown stone steps and landings in 1 1/2 days. This included cutting radius' in the brownstone on-site and designing a beautiful pattern. We are thrilled with the work he and his men performed. We highly recommend him.

Called him many times always retuned my calls did exactly what was told to me-very professional,very honest!!

I thought they were pricey but in line with other providers. The workers were polite and did a very good job. They came out and responded to my phone call request done quickly. We had issues timing because of the weather but the quality of work was excellent.

Valterwas very responsive to my first call for a quote and came out the next day. He discussed several options on terms of design and materials, and offered a lower cost material if that is what I wanted. Once the work was scheduled, he spent the first day with his crew ensuring that the area was exactly as we had discussed. He also brought samples with him for the final selection. There was a lot of work involved with pulling up the old patio. They stacked it nicely in the driveway as it was being 'repurposed' at my sister's yard. They dug 8 or so inches down to lay out the area. They moved patio furniture and dug up and replanted plants. There were at least 3 crew members each day on the project except for a rainy day. Valter was on site each day, communicating instructions to his crew if he needed to leave. It was impressive to watch the building of the seating wall and the skill of the masons. It is exactly what I was envisoning. Valter used top quality materials and did not skimp on the amount of gravel/stonedust. The bluestone was laid very nicely and was laid at a grade to keep water against the foundation. Valter came back the night it was finished and asked for my feedback to ensure everythign was complete and it was what I wanted. The patio exceeded my expectations. Although the project was expensive, I feel that the amount of labor and skill, and the quality of the materials supported the cost. I chose Valter Rego Masonry based on Angie's :List reviews and would highly recoomend him to anyone/

Mr. Rego was on time, professional and detail-oriented. He wanted to do the job right and was meticulous in his attention to the correct installation of the sidewalk. He performed exactly as he said he would and was intelligent and polite. I recommend him highly if you want your masonry done well.
