SG Contracting

Steve and his team were very friendly. We are happy with the new look but the attention to detail was not here. Not sure if it was because the owner (steve) did not oversee much of the work or because he did not inspect final work done y some of the contractors he brought in. Example, the electrician failed to anchor and position the light switches and plugs. This resulted in a space between the wall and the light switch and can be a safety issue as my kids have small fingers. The plug is crooked and which does not give a clean look. The plumber he brought in, Dave Silva Plumbing does not stand by his work. Shortly after he finished installing a shower with a diverter so we could switch between the show head and the shower wand the shower wand stopped working. Each time we used the wand the shower made a loud noise, pipes rattled and the water flow stopped. We call the contractor (Steve) who told us to call the plumber. after about a month of phone tag he set up an appointment to come look at it. My wife took the morning off. 15 minutes prior to the appointment time he called left a message "sorry can't make it" . No apology, reason why, no followup. I called him and told him how disappointed I was that they wasted my wife's time. The plumber called my wife back telling me how he did not appreciate my tone. Wow!!! Oh and when he installed the sink handle it came loose as well and wiggles every time we use the faucet. The plumbers craftsmanship and professionalism is poor and he clearly does not stand by his work as he will only come by an fix it if we pay him again for it. We called two other plumbers and they told us they stand by their work whether a defect part or workmanship they will make it right without charge. Wow. A quick word about the painter, we noted the walls showed brush strokes which should not be visible and we suspect because he rushed to paint a second before the base coat dried this caused the the brush streaks. We are very disappointed in the contractor as he is ultimately responsible for ensuring what we paid for actually works as expected. We asked him to make this right but as of today that has not happened. We would not recommend this contractor as he apparently does not stand by his work and the work of his people.

He is reliable, prices, he is responsive, prices are reasonable and he is honest. I can leave the house and have him do work.

I realize this review is on work done 2.5 yrs ago, but just joined Angie's List. Steve came over at the time promised. performed the estimate and work was scheduled. i had 3 bids all within 200 dollars of each other, but Steve included the aluminium coping and disposal in his estimate. The sills were added as they were discovered. He would show me the sill and ask permission to replace. It took 2 days to replace 17 of the windows. One window was ordered incorrectly and had to be reordered. The measurements were close and he could have tried to 'make' the window fit but Steve took complete ownership of the mistake, made no excuses and orderd a new window on the spot. The window was installed approximately 1 week later at a time of my choosing. It is a small but important thing, Steve used good silicone caulking vs acrylic. Silcone is more durable and less likely to seperate because of expansion and contration in the heat/cold. Steve and his co-worker took care of all the work. They were both courteous and friendly. Each answering any questions I had. I have no problem highly reccommending SG Maintenance and have used their services several times since.

Start to finish SG Maintenance was very easy to work with. The initial discussion regarding the estimate and choice of windows was very thorough and extremely helpful. Everything was clearly explained and the work was done well and a very timely fashion. We will definitely work with SG Maintenance again. We're extremely happy with the project.

He is extremely meticulous, very fair priced, and was good about telling us how long it would take and how much. He was good at managing his time.
